Come and experience living on an Australian sheep farm. We own and live on the farm, currently running 4000 sheep, but are looking at slowing down in life.
Our son has now come home to do the work. So most of my work involves driving around checking ewes and lambs and waters, and moving mobs of sheep with the help of kelpie sheep dogs.so you can cruise around the farm with us. Your role would to help my wife with daily chores such as feeding dogs, shifting water sprinklers & mowing the lawn (ride on mower)and some cleaning so she prefers females or maybe couples
We have been hosting backpackers from around the world for a few years to help with work on the farm and around the house but more importantly to understand more about other countries.
Visitors live in the house with us where meals are provided. Activities varies with the season. We prefer females due to past experiences, they listen better.
We have a lot of kangaroos and other wildlife, there is plenty of natural vege... more inside

Animal encounters and local heritage...
Named for the windsong through the magestic Pepper Trees surrounding the homestead, our Estate of 10 hectares is nestled between the scenic Barossa Valley, famed world over for its fine food and wines, and the mighty River Murray, the third longest navigable river in the world and Mecca for river fishing and water sports.

Our homestead is adjacent to the River Marne, feeding into the Murray and habitat to myriad bird species and Australian wildlife. In season you may even catch fresh water yabbies in the waterholes. In the rural landscape you can explore century old farm relics and disused mines... may be gold in those hills yet. This is true `Big Sky` country, a painters delight, with dawns, sunsets and stars - Cambrai was recently internationally acclaimed as a star gazing venue for its clean pollution free atmosphere, so bring your star charts!

You will slumber in a pleasant country style bedroom furnished with bunk-beds and adjacen... more inside

I am a retired secondary school teacher and I love gardening, singing and playing guitar, hiking, presenting on community radio and travelling. I live in a lovely historic cottage on a large block with a permanent creek a few minutes walk from the centre of Willunga in South Australia. Willunga is a small country town in a wine growing region and is famous for it's cafes and Saturday morning Farmers Market. My home is about 45 mins south of Adelaide and a short drive to the beach. I can provide a room within my house for one or two people and delicious vegetarian meals in exchange for working with me on improving my organic garden and my small cut flower business. I prefer helpers that wish to stay for a few days up to one week. There is an outside BBQ for cooking meat. We live on 17 acres and produce most of our own food through a veggie garden and orchard, and have a couple of cows, sheep for our own meat, goats and a cow for milking and cheese making, ducks, chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl and a dog. We also like to catch fish in our boat.

We have enjoyed the cultural exchange through HelpX and now have many more "children" around the world.

We recently bought a beautiful holiday accommodation place called Emu Bay Holiday Homes (Google it) have some general work around there and our own home just outside of Kingscote. The main jobs are helping in the garden, some minor painting, cleaning etc.

Our kids have moved out of home and you would have your own bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Honesty and care for my home is important to me.

I would prefer non smokers, but smoking outside only will be allowed. Prefer non fussy eaters as we make most of our food from scratch from whole foods from our own produce.

We are close to Kingscote... more inside

Kangaroo Island has been my home since 1973 and now includes Tina and daughter Anne. This farm, bought in July 2010 is my 3rd farming venture.Originally a productive mixed farm, it then became a pine plantation for 30yrs during which time the infrastructure fell into disrepair. It is our aim to rehabilitate the land for animal grazing and to develope a small tourist accomodation business.
In exchange for meals and in house accom, helpers would be required to work 4hours per day average, in duties (not limited to) tree planting, gardening, fence and rubbish removal, painting, building and renovation.Helpers need to be able to cope with physical but not back breaking activities .
In your time ,this place offers you the opportunity to explore some of the best, rural inland K.Is has to offer. Many winter streams feed into the permenant Cygnet River where maron and small fish live.`Roos, wallaby, echidina, goanna, koala, kookaburra, curlew, glossy black cockatoo to pardalote and many... more inside
