YES HELPERS NEEDED now: Summer is here with a vengeance, time for vegetable gardens, garlic processing and much more! Of course there is the everyday bits and pieces of watering and landscaping and the renovations have been going strong.

HERE NOW: Stewart

TODAY: 13 February 2019 Jordan and Meg came Friday and left today to a paid job in Launceston. Good luck to them.

3Feb. Rachel came with little Angus and helped process the Zucchini and onions. We made 10 kg of Zucchini Pickles!!! Wow!

31 January Barbara is off to King Island with young Quin who is going home. She will be away for three weeks nursing at the local hospital there.

29 January Stewart delivered garlic today and little Angus came for a two day visit. Lucie and Theo arrived early afternoon after a harrowing journey out of the burning Huon Valley bush fires. We will get stuck into cleaning dried garlic tomorrow and hopefully get some weeding done as well.

WELCOME TO TASSIE!!!

Available: now
We do prefer to host couples, but if your funny or skilled try your luck.

We have a 50 acre property in Snug which is 30 minutes south of Hobart along the coast.
We have 3 children (7,11,12) and are busy raising them. Be warned they will kick your ass at "connect 4" and" "uno"
I am a podiatrist and work in Kingston, and my wife is a silversmith who works from her studio at home.
On the property we have sheep, chickens and bees and lots of native wildlife (including our hand reared wallaby Ruby).
The property is within walking distance to the beach, shops, local cafe, bus stop and the snug river.
We have a small veggie garden at the minute. We farm our own meat so its always available for the evening meal if your not on a vegetarian diet.
At the minute on the farm we are doing a lot of tree planting, earth moving, road building, fencing, firewood collecting and building. Mel always needs help in the silver studio. T... more inside

Peter and I live in a small coastal suburb called Margate. It's is 22km from Hobart city centre. You have your own private cabin to stay in on our property which is separate to our house. We have a dog called Humphrey, chickens, three sheep, goldfish and a large vegetable patch.
There is plenty of gardening, weeding, wood chopping, grass slashing, painting and general handyman maintenance to be done in return for meals and accommodation.
We supply:
Breakfast- bread, cereal, milk, tea and coffee
Lunch - sandwiches (ham, salami, salad)
Dinner - variety of foods
You prepare your own breakfast and lunch from the food we supply and we will share the cooking for dinner.
The bus is in walking distance (about 3km away). We both travel into the city every day and could do drop offs or pick ups.
Flexible work hours (4 hours per day or 8 hours one day and nothing the next day) and free wifi located by the main house. You can stay for up to two weeks if you are doing a good job. Any l... more inside

We run a small gourmet mushroom business, supplying growing cultures to other growers, and fresh mushrooms to local restaurants. Our farm is home to Tasmanian Devils, Platypus, Quolls and other wildlife, as well as our chooks and ducks. We have 2 children, 13 and 15 yrs old, a large dog, and a cat. We are establishing an orchard, large vege gardens, and a small goat dairy, and a few sheep. We would like help with building, gardening, milking the goats, as well as general farm work. Happy to teach helpers how to grow gourmet mushrooms. Accommodation is in a caravan, down by the dam. Wifi is in the house, sometimes it reaches the caravan. There is mobile reception in the van.

We have work for 5 people from early April to early May, helping us with the harvesting and processing of the walnuts. This is a complex process and we will need your commitment for the entire period of about 4 weeks so that we can complete the harvest successfully. We prefer couples if possible because we only have 3 double bedrooms.

We are able to provide all documents to satisfy second year visa. We have recently had 3 of our helpers achieve their second year visa after audit by Dept of immigration.

We have a 10 acre (4 hectare) commercial walnut orchard fronting onto the Coal River (sometimes we can see the platypus who lives there!), with 4 bedroom house on 30 acres (12 hectare). You will have your own bedroom, bathroom and living area within the main house. We have wifi throughout the house and good internet access.

We live 3 kms outside historic Richmond, 1/2 hr drive from Hobart. There is a bus to Hobart but life is much easier if you have your own car. Often we ... more inside

FOREST CAMPING opportunity at MARGATE - IF you have a car.

If you're stuck for accommodation, can't find a job, just finished fruit picking or don't want to pay for a hostel (like many others) we have a great property at Margate south of Hobart in the forest by a creek where you can camp in exchange for 2 hours of work per day per person. We will provide everything.

You can come to our place in Hobart once or twice a week to do your laundry, have dinner and check messages using internet if you want to.

This will only suit people who are very independent travellers. We are very friendly but we are based in the middle of Hobart with 2 teenage daughters. We work full time, our kids play lots of sport and our lives are generally very busy so you won't see us much.

Our house in Hobart is not really suited to helpers due to layout as we require privacy however we have had some people stay at this house. During late Feb and March we have too many visitors coming to host help... more inside
