To help to renovate and maintain a big house in its own large gardens in a beautiful and peaceful location, but near to shops and facilities.
We are 30km from Manchester and direct trains and buses leave to the city from close by. Just above the house is the boundary to the Peak Park with magnificent walking trails, rock climbing, and panoramic views.

Please ignore the photos of our bungalows in Ireland, you will not be staying in them if you visit us in the Peak District. The top left photo is of the garden here.

Through April and into May 2019, Andy is reroofing and reslating an outbuilding behind the main house and some help with that would be very welcome. Labouring tasks, grading slates, tidying the site up, moving materials, clearing up leaves, lighting the woodburners in the house, collecting fuel.

We will be away in June but in July, August and September we will be in Ireland and also need helpers there.

There is the possibility of helping us and playing with ... more inside

Hi, my name is Andy and I have been a hosting people for many years on Helpx and through other organisations. I have been lucky as many of the people who have stayed here have become great friends and have left me with some great memories.

I am an open person who appreciates spending my time with people with a similar outlook on life, people who want to learn more about this strange and wonderful planet we all occupy. I get on with people who care about others and want to learn more about themselves. I have learnt a lot from my time hosting people and this journey continues :-)

I consider myself a well-educated person and believe that life is a continual learning experience, I like listening to the music of most genres, watching a good film, writing, and watching documentaries. I am interested in current affairs, psychology, history, politics, philosophy and technology. I have a good sense of humour, I like to share a joke and tell a story. I like to laugh and of course to hav... more inside

We run a small, attractive 4 bedroom guest house, in picturesque St Ives Cornwall, England, which has 4 stunning sandy beaches and a working harbour. Our guesthouse is very close to the surfing Porthmeor Beach.

We are offering a part-time opportunity for 4-6 weeks,(depending on your availability), covering the period between mid June - late September 2019, though some periods have already been taken, we are now looking to fill remaining weeks.

We are very flexible on the timings and happy to discuss your preferred dates.
Approx 13-16 hours per week - spread across 6 mornings - usually between the hours of 10am - 1.30 pm usually . Therefore 1 day per week and all afternoons and evenings are free. Plenty of down time for the volunteer, which is particularly good news for any EU citizens who may wish to seek a small part-time temporary job.
Our helper will work alongside the very friendly management couple who run the guesthouse - sharing all aspects of their work - no cooking... more inside

The work will mainly involve: Renovatinging/decorating/DIY. But also cleaning the house, gardening, shopping, furniture restoration and whatever else is needed

I am very interested in hosting professionals with building skills. Plumbers, plasterers. carpenters, electricians, bricklayers, builders etc. I can host people for long periods (6 months +) if needed.

For professionals I am also interested in paying for extra hours worked, so please contact me if this is something you are looking for.

I would ideally like someone with some experience, but this is not essential.

In exchange for free accommodation and food, I would expect 4 hours a day help. If you have experience that would be excellent, if not then as long as you're hard working and quick to learn then I can guide you (I've renovated a few houses before)
I can be flexible as to how you work your hours, but this needs to be mutually agreed in advance

I do not allow smoking in the house
I do not want peopl... more inside

In need of help in the garden for first week of May 2019 and beyond. However, I am a strictly non smoking place both inside and out. Smokers including those who vape, will be asked to leave.

Can you speak English, do you like animals and working outdoors?

I ask for about 5 and a half hours a day which translates into 5 hours work plus opening the poultry houses in the morning and closing them at night keeping the ducks and chickens safe from predators.

I am in The South West of England a lovely area in the country close to Dartmoor National Park and also the Devon/Cornwall border. very scenic close to great walking country. 2 kilometres away there is a huge supermarket which sells everything from food to washing machines, it is open 24 hours.

Help is needed for ongoing gardening work and also looking after ducks and chickens two cats and two dogs, all the animals here are free range, I eat meat but none of my own birds who are pets.

The garden here is very large... more inside
