We have an outdoor challenge events business which organises cycling, walking, kayaking and swimming events raising money for charity. We operate from a farmhouse on the shores of Loch Tay in Highland Perthshire where we also have airbnb accommodation. Our business is very seasonal so we need short term help over the busy months to help us run our home whilst we are working. We are looking for willing helpers to join our friendly family team. Due to the nature of our business no two days are the same around here. Staying with us best suits flexible and self motivated individuals or couples who love wild open spaces and could help in the house/garden. We have three children and three springer spaniels. Due to our remote location (no public transport and no shops within walking distance) staying with us will give you a true highland experience in a stunning part of Scotland and a taste of scottish rural life. We have hosted helpx friends for several years now and we look forw... more inside

A "Natural" Building Project in the Scottish Highlands.

Hi HelpXers,

We live in a beautiful wooded glen (valley) near a village called Spinningdale about 50 miles (80 km.) north of Inverness in the northern Scottish Highlands, where we have a 6 acre (2.4 hectare) former croft (a "croft" is a traditional small Highland farmstead).

We are surrounded by 1700 acres (700 hectares) of stunning natural woodland belonging to a conservation body called The Woodland Trust. We help look after the woods as Voluntary Wardens.

Jim is an environmental scientist with a particular interest in ecological design and sustainable building using natural materials.

Saddhavati is an artist and teacher.

We are nearing completion of our "natural" home. It is a "passive solar" design based around a traditional post and beam timber frame with "breathing" external walls clad with untreated larch and a living green roof. The building is insulated throughout with hemp fibre and sheep`s wool... more inside

We have self catering tourism businesses in Aberfeldy and Pitlochry, Perthshire in the Scottish Highlands. We previously had a guesthouse and have hosted happy volunteers for a number of years!
We have just refurbished a beautiful old manse house next to Loch Tummel and are currently letting that out as well as our self catering lodges.
We need people to help with weekly changeovers between guests. This involves cleaning, tidying and preparing the properties for the new arrivals.
We are also looking for volunteers with a love of gardening and outdoor work for help with landscaping a large pond and garden we are currently re-establishing in our two acre garden in Foss.

We are Tina and Norman, we are very adaptable, friendly and have run all aspects of our own small businesses for a long time now.
We have two daughters Kirsty, 26, Ailie, 25 and a son Calum who is 18. Our five dogs Whisky, Coco, Millie, Beauly and Tala are very friendly and popular with our Helpex guests.

*** We need somebody from now for at least one month, preferably longer ***

Join our lovely team. Make new friends. Discover Edinburgh.

We are a friendly and relaxed wee hostel right on the historical Royal Mile in the very centre of Scotland`s stunning and lively capital city. We`re one of the smallest but also cosiest and friendliest hostels in town. And we`re smack bang in the middle of all the sights and our favourite bars are 5 around minutes walk away (some even less).
I think we would describe ourselves as a relaxed, easy-going kind of bunch rather than a crazy party hostel. We like nights with a drink or two and some banter in front of the fire place. But there are also weekly events in cooperation with our bigger sister hostels, like a Ceilidh (Scottish dance), our Pub Crawl and Ghost tours.

We`re looking for someone who likes to be around people from all over the world and wants to help us keep our wee hostel clean and tidy. A friendly atmosphere is very import... more inside
