*** Covid-19 update. We are looking for a replacement for our lockdown helper who has been brilliant and will leave in the middle of May after spending three months with us. If you are available and it is safe to travel, and you would like a long term placement with us then please get in touch. As we have no guests at the moment much of the daily chores are outside and are physical / manual and ideally suited to a male or someone not afraid of hard work!! Couples welcome :-)

Katie and I own a small crofting home in the rural heart of the Scottish West Highlands in a small village called Lochailort.

During the summer months and peak times we offer Bed and Breakfast or Self / Catering to paying guests.

We are always looking for good helpers (a couple ideally or a self-motivated individual) with a minimum stay of 4 weeks or longer if possible.

Places are available now.

We are remote, but the area is stunning and can be just the most beautiful in all seasons.

COVID-19 UPDATE: We are still operating and supporting the young people in our residential communities. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to some of our brilliant volunteers who returned to their homes due to the pandemic. We've started recruiting again and are looking for 4-5 volunteers to start in June-August for a minimum of 3months (if you can stay longer that's even better!) to take the places of those who had to leave and replace current volunteers at the end of their placements.

Thanks to those who have messaged about the places and apologies for the delays in getting back to you. We are compiling new information for applicants based on recent guidance from the Scottish Government and Care Inspectorate and will be in touch as soon as this is done. Thank-you for your patience

A "Natural" Building Project in the Scottish Highlands.

Hi HelpXers,

UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO THE CONTINUING COVID19 PANDEMIC, WE HAVE RELUCTANTLY DECIDED TO SUSPEND OUR VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMME UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. HOWEVER, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT US TO REGISTER AN INTEREST IN A PLACEMENT AT A FUTURE DATE.

We live in a beautiful wooded glen (valley) near a village called Spinningdale about 50 miles (80 km.) north of Inverness in the northern Scottish Highlands, where we have a 6 acre (2.4 hectare) former croft (a "croft" is a traditional small Highland farmstead).

We are surrounded by 1700 acres (700 hectares) of stunning natural woodland belonging to a conservation body called The Woodland Trust. We help look after the woods as Voluntary Wardens.

Jim is an environmental scientist with a particular interest in ecological design and sustainable building using natural materials. Saddhavati is an artist and teacher.

We are nearing completion of our "natural" home... more inside

DUE TO CORONAVIRUS WE CANNOT HAVE ANYONE TO STAY AT PRESENT. ONCE WE COME FULLY OUT OF LOCKDOWN WE WILL START AGAIN.

Keen and enthusiastic garden helpers needed.

We live in a lovely rural location five miles from the town of Oban, on the West coast of Scotland. We have a naturalistic garden and a separate vegetable patch as well as an extensive wildflower meadow and native woodland. We try to manage our land to encourage the greatest biodiversity. We normally need help from the end of March with general garden work, including feeding and mulching shrubs and trees, planting and potting on as well as cutting and splitting firewood, and some house maintenance.

We are looking for 1 or 2 cheerful, adaptable, nonsmoking omnivores who will help us for an average of 25 hrs or so per week (jobs are very weather dependent). The Erraid Community is a small island off the Isle of Mull (Inner Hebrides) and part of the Findhorn Foundation Community. As a spiritual land-based community we live and work together as custodians of the island and cottages that were built for the northern lighthouse board in the 1860s. Our life is very practical whilst living with spiritual principles. Our main role here as custodians of the island is to maintain the cottages and outbuildings. This involves: painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, maintaining the many sash windows, metal work, fencing and much more. Our second priority is keeping our aim of trying to live off the land as much as we can, we have organic gardens, two poly-tunnels and many chickens. Alongside that we are running a guest programme called Love in Action, and we offer retreats. Please read more on www.erraid.com.

We have space from Saturday 15th August 2020.

**************Looking for couples from March 2020 onwards - any horticultural knowledge, interest or passion for gardening and growing a plus! *************

I have a small petting farm and farm shop in the Highlands of Scotland - John O'Groats a bucket list destination for many. I bought the farm in Sept 2016 as a running business, there is lots to do to try to get it where i would like to be long term. Running the farm by myself with only so many hours in a day means any help is really appreciated!

The work is varied, there is the morning routine with the animals, feeding and mucking out the pens, walking my lovely friendly dalmatian dog, cutting the grass, weeding helping water and tend to the fruit and vegetables growing on the farm. I have a 2 bedroom B&B so helping get rooms turned around and ready for guests, chopping carrots for visitors to feed to the animals and general farm maintenance.

A two berth caravan is on site for volunteers, it is dry, warm and cosy wit... more inside

We are retired but active couple, we have 8 acres of ground full of wonders such as horses, chickens, a dog and a cat, out buildings, a wind turbine, gardens and a vegetable plot therefore we would like some people to come and help us out in and around the house annd land.
We are sociable pair. we have 4 grown up children who no longer live at home so we have space to host people and we want to share our home and stories with interesting people who like to do the same! We have rooms on Air BnB too, so guests often come and go, as do friends and family. Having Help Xers will be a great practical help but also fun and interesting for us and you too!! Please note
we are NOT a farm

Time wise ,looking at end June , thro July perhaps, but we are flexible.

We are located between Stirling and St Andrews in the beautiful county of Kinross-shire 40 miles from Edinburgh, in a village called Drum. There are regular buses between Stirling and St Andrews with connections to Edinburgh, ... more inside
