Oysters are cultivated on the intertidal area of the shores of lough Larne, I love working outside with nature. Work can be hard and physical and I am just looking for help and sharing experiences at the site. Be aware of the work is outside and it rains a lot in Ireland !!

Work hours are variable and there is not one day the same. There are days with 2 hours other 6 hours (average 4 hours) Oyster farming is organic, there is not added fertiliser or feed because these animals are filter feeder, meaning they eat micro algae, a natural food source coming with the tides.

I specially like being out there within the nature and wildlife, it is common to see seals and many birds around the farming structure and the surrounding. Access is 10 minutes by boat or from small path access going across an old quarry where Game of Thrones series was filmed (Magheramorne). Oysters are farmed in bags placed above the sea bottom, in bags placed on metal frames. I receive the oyster seed from ha... more inside

We are a couple in our late fifties and live in the heart of the countryside close to the coast of Co Down and numerous unspoilt beaches. Castleward - home to several scenes from Game of Thrones and Killard Nature Reserve are close by. We have views of the Mourne Mountains which are easily accessible by car. The small, picturesque villages of Strangford, Killough and Ardglass are close to hand. Portaferry is also accessible by taking the ferry accross Strangford Lough. We enjoy being outdoors and I walk my rescue dogs on the beach every morning. My husband enjoys fishing. We would consider ourselves easy going. Our family have left home, our son and his family live in England and our daughter and her family live a mile up the road from us.
We are looking help for 5 or 6 hours a day 5 days a week. The work would include general gardening (grass cutting, strimming and hedgecutting), repairs to and re-stoning our lane, helping build a patio area and moving soil, fencing and clearing a... more inside

I run a small airbnb accommodation venue, with large garden for vegetables and chickens. On the same plot of land is my own cottage, with some spare rooms. I am hoping to find a suitable person(s) to help with general maintenance, some joinery, garden work, and vegetables. I need assistance with maintenance, cleaning accommodation venue and general house work in my own cottage. What I do here is small scale. I work as a full time artist and am away from the venue now and again. Happy to supply food and accommodation and good introduction to the area. Looking for reliable and flexible person who can act on his/her own initiative. Might need some one over xmas and into the new year 2019/20 as I will be busy with a fairly crucial art exhibition in a major Belfast venue.
