Good day to you all.

My name is Dennis.
I live with my cat in a village that's sometimes nicknamed Uutonen.
The village is a part of Tohmajärvi town that borders to Russia.

Uutonen has had a little bit of a bad reputation in the past, maybe still has.
The village has 20 or so factory worker houses. Aka barnhouses that are rotting away. I have two of theese houses, live in one.
The house is off-grid, dry toilet and so on.

At the moment Im working on a energy sufficient little house.
In the outskirts of the nearest "bigger" city Joensuu, in a suburb called Kulho.
We started a sustainability project, it is in its grassroot stage. The project is called nomadtown, rented land where we are alloud to raise temporary little houses, yurts, tipis or new kinds of structures.
Ideas are welcome.

Helpers are hosted both in Uutonen and Joensuu, depending on what is going on.
When in nomadtown housing is tent with tiny stowe. Its cold I know but we are lucky to have a sauna the... more inside

We run an internship program for people interested in working with huskies in a semi-professional capacity. In other words, we don`t just take people as volunteers and expect them to poop. Rather, we have a systematic training system in place which is an extension of the system in place for paying clients who want to participate in the husky lifestyle for short periods of time.

Interns learn about and participate in the daily and weekly tasks that need to be completed on the farm. The first week is a bit of a baptism of fire guided by a daily mentor in which there is complete immersion into every aspect of life here.

The degree to which people can participate in the range of roles available on the farm depends on the length of their stay, their expertise coming in, and the level of interest in the various roles.

Duties change with the seasons from one-on-one dog training and construction / maintenance work in the summer, to dog-conditioning and safari preparation work in... more inside

Hi there!

We are a Finnish family living on a historical farm in the Eastern Finland close to Russian border. We are looking for handy helpers to help out with various kinds of tasks on our land.

We run a business in tourism, forestry and agriculture on our farm. We have lakeside cabins that can be rented for spending a holiday and a smoke sauna area for arranging functions in a unique setting. At the moment we are concentrating on ecological tourism at our lakeside area and we want to offer our guests authentic experiences with the minimal effect on the nature.

We have two cats that live in the house with us, but we don't have any other animals of our own. However, in the summertime we have some sheep that we look after. Around our house we have big gardens with apple trees, plum trees, berries and in the summer we grow some vegetables. The fruit, berries and vegetables we preserve for the winter. Our land is next to a lake and our home is surrounded by fields and forests... more inside

We are a family of four (mom, 43, translator; dad, 45, theatrical set designer and doing this and that in the field of culture; boy, 14, into robotics, football, hockey, floorball, mobile and PS gaming; girl, 13, into all kinds of animals, especially horses, environmantalism, cooking, reading, music) who live in a big old house that we are slowly renovating. We also have a little dog.

We need extra pairs hands for all sorts of jobs around the house and garden depending on the time of year and whatever projects we have going on: scraping, painting, cleaning, wall-papering, basic carpentry, yardwork, gardening, basic forestry, chopping wood, cutting grass, picking berries, cherries & apples etc etc. There might be some light work with our ten or so chicken as well.

We also have a few beehives, and helpers are welcome to help with their care if they so wish, but that is not required. ;)

Our helpers normally stay for about two weeks, and unfortunately long-term stays are not po... more inside

We are a family of four; Maisa(38), Antti(37) and our kids Anna(5) and Oiva(3). We live on a small farm near lovely & lively Fiskars Village. Both of us do social work with teenagers and we are also a foster family. During summertime we rent two cottages via Airbnb in our courtyard. People from all around the world come to enjoy the finnish summer as our guests. We have icelandic-horses, shetland pony, friendly dog, cat, and chickens. We are looking for a help during summer months; Light housework, hosting guests, warming up sauna, riding, training foals, cooking, babysitting, walks with the dog. Nothing too onerous, but just an extra pair of hands would be nice. Some days free, of course, some days with few working hours. We hope you to be able to stay 1-3 months between June and August. You'll get your own room in the main house and meals. We are easy-going people and the atmosphere is welcoming and cosy.

How about spending winter in Finland? :)

We are a young family of four; Janet (25), my husband Toni (26) and our children Hugo (3) and Doris (1). Also we do have a small dog.
We live on a countryside in Northern Ostrobothnia. The village we live in is really small and surrounded by nature. There are lots of fields, forest and beautiful beaches.

I'm a cook, so I really enjoy cooking and baking on my spare time too. My husband likes to do different sports and go hunting on his spare time.
Usually we just like to spend time as a family, watch movies, go outdoor and go to sauna, and just relax.
We also have a cottage in Kuusamo, where we often spend holidays.

We would hope you to do light housework on weekdays while we work. Like doing dishes, laundry, vacuuming (not everyday)..
Also it would be nice if you would walk the dog, and watch after the kids every now and then so I could do grocery shopping/shower etc.
If you have skills for that, you could do some renovation ... more inside

Hi traveler! Are you already planning for summer 2020?

My name is Eki and I have a dream that I invite you to help me make.

I've hosted over the past five years, mainly in the summer months, through two different international organizations of volunteers around the world who come here to my place. I have experienced this a brilliant idea for cultural exchange and received a lot. I've been able to meet different kinds of people, learned their way of living and I´ve got more understanding of the world around.

Finally, I also had the opportunity to try volunteering myself. I chose West Africa as my destination. My idea was to spend half of my time being a volunteer in Gambia, half of the time hanging around other small countries in the region, such as Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.

Getting to know the locals, living with the locals is the best when travelling. And this way of travelling is great. Daily budgets can be small because of being able to live with local families. It ... more inside
