Hey you! I am a single mother of a lovely son Milo, born in Jan 2018. We live in a 3 room flat in Helsinki, Mellunmäki. Helsinki is a lively city, with lots to offer. I haven't had a helpxr yet, who wouldn't have fallen for Helsinki.

We are looking for someone to look after Milo every now n then (usually a few hours at a time), do some light house work and join us on our adventures. We are outgoing and are looking for someone, who would like to see how life in Finland is and teach us a bit about your culture too. I strongly believe the best part about being a host is not to only show my own culture, but to learn about yours too. Having such a young kid, I can't really travel all that much myself, so I love the fact, that I can still bring culture to my life!

Our lifestyle is hakunamatata, we don't want to stress abt the smallest things. Milo is super social, he gets along with everyone. I am talkative too, unless I watch netflix, which I do too much. Oh, nice to know: I am ... more inside

Hi!

My name is Eki and I need assistance with daily house work, such as housekeeping, gardening, making firewood, small renovating jobs, berry picking, mushroom picking... depending on the season.

September-October 2019 I need 1-3 volunteers at a time.

Volunteers should be proficient in English, as an important reason for hosting is that I have an opportunity to practice my language skills.

This bohemian house is an old border guarding building, total with 10 rooms, 3 floors, located close (400 m) to the Russian border in Eastern Finland. Currently, this is a private home but I have a small B&B (home accommodation) too.

I have lived here for the past 20 years, currently I have a cat and four Alaskan Malamutes sled-dogs (kept outside 24/7).

This is a very quiet and peaceful place, with the nearest shop located 25 kilometers away. Here you can enjoy the silence and nature.

Private room and daily meals (no meat apart from fish) are provided, WI-FI, sauna everyda... more inside

We run an internship program for people interested in working with huskies in a semi-professional capacity. In other words, we don`t just take people as volunteers and expect them to poop. Rather, we have a systematic training system in place which is an extension of the system in place for paying clients who want to participate in the husky lifestyle for short periods of time.

Interns learn about and participate in the daily and weekly tasks that need to be completed on the farm. The first week is a bit of a baptism of fire guided by a daily mentor in which there is complete immersion into every aspect of life here.

The degree to which people can participate in the range of roles available on the farm depends on the length of their stay, their expertise coming in, and the level of interest in the various roles.

Duties change with the seasons from one-on-one dog training and construction / maintenance work in the summer, to dog-conditioning and safari preparation work in... more inside

We are Marja (finnish sign language interpreter, homemom, from Finland) and Mick (carpenter, from Ireland) and we have two small kids Leo (born 2014) and Luna (born 2016). We live in the countryside in North Karelia 20 km from Joensuu center.

Our project is to build a small straw bale round house to be our home. We have decided to settle down in Finland and after a few years of thinking we decided to build our own home instead of buying an old house. After that decision was made we bought 5 hectares of land in December 2016. We bought it very close (500m) from where we live now and also close to an organic farm Pikkunuppu where Marja has grown up.

We have now cleared the road to the house, gotten building permission and had the trees cut to boards for the house. After we got the building permission we cleared the building plot from trees and we did a natural stone foundation. The foundation of the house is ready as is the foundation for the chimney. In year 2018 we completed... more inside

Hello!

We are living here on a beautiful old farm estate in south/central Finland on the shores of Näsijärvi, about 3 hours from Helsinki and 1 hour from Tampere by car. The farm nowadays is purely arable, so no livestock related work is done here.

The daily farm work for us actually consists mostly of chores and maintenance work on the buildings and gardens, as most of the field work is contracted. Grass cutting, weed whacking, painting buildings, pruning trees, doing small renovations indoors and such are the normal jobs in the summer months. We also run a small fish hatchery and a small-scale sawmill.

I, Laura, currently live in Tampere with my husband Keith (from Scotland) and our dog Dexter, but we visit the farm every weekend. My parents and grandparents live on the farm permanently. However, as the farm yard is quite large with a lot of maintenance work needing done, we are struggling to keep up with everything by ourselves.

We are looking for nice, helpful, trust... more inside

CALL FOR HELPERS

Our place is located between Turku and Helsinki in the village of Karjalohja on a beautiful hill with a view over fields with crops and horses. Only with a 7 minutes walk you reach the shore of the clean protected Enäjärvi Lake, where we do fishing, rowing, sailing, swimming, picnic, or take tours to the islands. Big forests with berries and mushrooms also surround us. You reach to the Turku-Helsinki express bus stop in 15 minutes with our biogas car. To reach the nearest small village with shop, library, spa, etc. takes 12 minutes by car and 35 minutes on bicycle.

Now this place serves our circle of partners and friends and we hope that one day it can also serve a larger circle. Eventually, it can also become an artist residence and an experimental ground for artistic, ecologic and holistic lifestyle development.

The project
We are developing an old farm into an ecological self-sustainable unit. We are growing biodynamic food and exploring experiments i... more inside

Hello!

I live in Uusi-värtsilä, a village in Tohmajärvi, North-Karelia, close to the Russian border. Here you find forests, bogs, remains of stone-age villages, spring water lakes, rivers, wild animals, clean air and interesting people. Perfect!

I'm a masseur/yoga teacher/woodartisan. I live in a house that previously housed several families that housed workers from the the village foundry. The foundry was run down in the 60:s and the village got quiet. Now the village is a quiet place with many empty houses around.
I'm now restoring the house since it had been empty for years and was in really bad condition, same with the garden. We built two dome greenhouses in the garden, this year we are building a third during the summer. This Summer there is a nearby field that we are using for plantig a variety of edibles.

I have a little workshop where I make bentwood furniture and wooden handicrafts. I invite helpers to share the costless joy of gardening, planting, handicrafts, ... more inside

We are Katja and Andy, a true Helpx-couple who met 10 years ago in Portugal while doing volunteering through HelpX. Now we are wishing to be hosts to other HelpXers in return.

Katja (33) is Finnish and Andy (43) is from Yorkshire, England. We have a house in Imatra, in South East Finland that we got around four years ago. We spend the Winters in Portugal but in the Summer season we enjoy the life in Finland. The house was built in the 1930´s and in now needing renovations to keep it going. The main project for the coming Summer is to finish off the cladding of the exterior what Andy started last Summer.

We can offer the helper private accommodation in the upstairs of the house. You would get your own bedroom and toilet. The shower, sauna, kitchen etc are downstairs where we live. Lunch and dinner will be made by who ever has the best idea and the most energy left! Katja makes her own wines and cider from the garden and forest berries, and this summer she´s planning of giving... more inside
