We run an internship program for people interested in working with huskies in a semi-professional capacity. In other words, we don`t just take people as volunteers and expect them to poop. Rather, we have a systematic training system in place which is an extension of the system in place for paying clients who want to participate in the husky lifestyle for short periods of time.

Interns learn about and participate in the daily and weekly tasks that need to be completed on the farm. The first week is a bit of a baptism of fire guided by a daily mentor in which there is complete immersion into every aspect of life here.

The degree to which people can participate in the range of roles available on the farm depends on the length of their stay, their expertise coming in, and the level of interest in the various roles.

Duties change with the seasons from one-on-one dog training and construction / maintenance work in the summer, to dog-conditioning and safari preparation work in... more inside

This historical pioneer farm - which my grandfather built in the early 1950s - has now been operational for 8 years, over which period a lot of work has been done; however, as with all farms, it is an ongoing project. I started making it habitable again after it had been abandoned for 9 years, so there has already been a lot done to make it livable again. What started off as a one man self-reliance project grew into an on/off commune of volunteers from around the world. We also maintain a guest house type activity (airbnb) and we have started an organization that offers residencies for artists and writers. I personally also started a travel company guiding people interested in traditional wilderness survival skills and bushcraft in all seasons.

We have a vegetable garden and some fields, along with animals including goats, chickens, dogs, cats, and even a few rabbits. We also do a lot of foraging collecting berries, mushrooms, herbs etc., and also a bit of fishing and hunting. We... more inside

Good day to you all.

My name is Dennis.
I live with my cat in a village that's sometimes nicknamed Uutonen.
The village is a part of Tohmajärvi town that borders to Russia.

Uutonen has had a little bit of a bad reputation in the past, maybe still has?.
The village has 20 or so factory worker houses. Aka barnhouses that are rotting away. I have two of theese houses, live in one.
The house is off-grid, dry toilet, water from the well and so on.

At the moment Im working on a energy sufficient little house.
In the outskirts of the nearest "big" city Joensuu, in a suburb called Kulho.
We started a sustainability project, it is in its grassroot stage. The project is called nomadtown, rented land where we have permission to raise temporary little houses, yurts, tipis or new kinds of tiny structures.
Ideas are welcome.

Helpers are hosted both in Uutonen and Joensuu, depending on what is going on.
When in nomadtown housing is tent with tiny stowe. Its cold I know but we ... more inside

We have a small, peaceful and very beautiful ranch in lake Finland. Only 17 km south from Jyväskylä city.

The work we offer is mainly taking care of animals and doing some forestry. Animals are sheep and chicken and they need food and cleaning for their house. Forestry means that you clean some forest area for childrens use.

Women could help with woolhandcraft if they are interested. There is also some construction work in a new house we are building and gardening on the yard.

The period could be from 1 to 5 days. You can work about 4 hours and we offer one meal and accomodation.

Hi! I'm Liisa (26) and I live with Markus (27) in Kalajoki, Finland. We would offer accommodation in our home for a helper later this year. We are outgoing persons, we both work fulltime and we have a big yard where we would need help.I also have a greenhouse where I might need a hand. Helper would have to do some housework inside and outside, but also have a lot of freetime to explore places in our City and there is easy access also to Lapland and Helsinki by train, since we live on The coast of Finland. We have a cat. Put me a message if you are interested!

We are Marja (finnish sign language interpreter, homemom, from Finland) and Mick (carpenter, from Ireland) and we have two small kids Leo (born 2014) and Luna (born 2016). We live in the countryside in North Karelia 20 km from Joensuu center.

Our project is to build a small straw bale round house to be our home. We have decided to settle down in Finland and after a few years of thinking we decided to build our own home instead of buying an old house. After that decision was made we bought 5 hectares of land in December 2016. We bought it very close (500m) from where we live now and also close to an organic farm Pikkunuppu where Marja has grown up.

We have now cleared the road to the house, gotten building permission and had the trees cut to boards for the house. After we got the building permission we cleared the building plot from trees and we did a natural stone foundation. The foundation of the house is ready as is the foundation for the chimney. In year 2018 we completed... more inside

Our family has a big house 30km from the city
of Rovaniemi. We are a family on five. We can offer a homestay here in the middle of beautiful nature of Rovaniemi. We are looking for a person who is social, outgoing, and trustworthy. We need someone who can take care of our kids meanwhile we do chores nearby the house.

With us you'll be able to experience Lapplan and it's clean nature.

Searching for volunteers from 1.8.2020:

We have a unique location above the Arctic Circle in the middle of the forest and next to a swamp. We have 16 hectares of own forest around, no noise of any cars nor people, no neighbours. We have an authentic old Hunter's cabin that we are fixing to rent out. We have 5 hostel type of beds in the location and a quest cabin.

We offer you a relaxed stay with tasks according to your own interests and skills as well, what we need those days and what you are interested to work with and learn about. On the free time we like to take our guests around the region, visit places, meet people, etc.

In the location there is an amazing old log cabin, two saunas, quest cabin and private lake. Our place is luxury but primitive. We have an outhouse (no indoor toilet) and no electricity. We cook mostly on an open fire, sometimes using a gas stove. Our cabin is very warm (big fireplace inside).

We have plenty to do around the old hunter's cabin as ... more inside
