Hi there. Welcome to our listing.

We are a couple living in a small house on a small farm in the southern of Iceland. We have two young children, one two years old and another three year old. We also have a dog, cat, parrots, chicken, geese, horses and calves/bulls.

Even though covid19 has put a bump in most peoples plan, life will continue, and we are starting to plan for the summer. This summer our big plan is to open a small family friendly horse-center. As well as start building up an eider-ducks nesting area and more.

We need people who are willing to participate in everything that needs to be done related to our home and farm, and are willing to get their hands dirty if needed. It's a huge plus if you have knowledge of horses and can ride.

We require people who is easy going, have good work ethics and speak very good English. A drivers license is a plus.

We prefer to hosts helpers for longer periods of time than shorter, with minimum stay of two weeks. We als... more inside

Hi, we are horse-family. We live in south of Iceland and we have stable for 20 horses, but we own 80 horses.

We live in a big house and we are used to have many people with us, mostly girls who have the focus on going to the riding teacher school in the North, Hˇlar. I am educated riding teacher from Hˇlar so I am teaching a lot. I am looking for people that can work with horses, feed, muck and clean. We have horses in every training scale, young ones, breeding horses, competition horses and mostly we are training the sale horses. We also have a small Horserental. We look forward to hear from you :)
I lived in Norway for 6 months working on a horse farm so I know a little bit how it is to experience something totally different from home.

I like to have people that have good balance and are open minded. Experience in Icelandic horses is not important, only that you have been riding before :)

Best and kind regards
Sj÷fn at Perluhestar

We are located on the Vatnsnes Peninsula, 25km north of road no. 1. Ësar ocean beach is full of life. Seals abound and also eider ducks and other birds, and the rock HvÝtserkur, which resembles a prehistoric Dinosaur, is within walking distance.

The unspoiled nature, peaceful environment and a variety of recreation opportunities makes this an ideal place. In only about 5 min walk you are in unusually close contact with nature. Here guests can see a number of different birds and one of Iceland`s biggest colonies of seals, swimming only a few meters from the beach.

We are offering a help exchange, we are offering helpers to come and stay with us in exchange for help on the farm, or with the Hostel.. That could be helping cleaning rooms, or doing reception, on the farm it could be fence work, or helping with the animals.

A superb place for nature lovers

2020
We are focusing on setting up worm farms, charcoal production tests and raised transport pallet growbeds. We are likely to have a Ecosystem Restoration Camp in August and we are hosting a PDC (permaculture design course) in September on a different site.

We are only taking in a handful of volunteers in August and September. Looking for inspired people willing to contribute in a meaningful way.

The site is a barren, but interesting landscape, close to the town of Ůorlßksh÷fn, bordering both a rock mine ôthe Pitö and a disposal site for mostly organic waste ôthe Tipö, giving the site easy access to a variety of resources and building material.
The heart of the camp site is our outdoor kitchen, we have a shelter for tools, outhouses, and campsite.

We have a varied and growing access to disposed of or unused resources, which solidly places The Five Rĺs at the heart of the site (Re-fuse, Re-duce, Re-use, Re-pair, Re-cycle). The landscape is of great interest as it is... more inside

Where to start? We are a family in the western part of Iceland, at the gates of the Westfjords, Beggi runs the sheep farm. We have 400 sheep and all possible trouble that can be connected to sheep: fixing fences in the summer, gathering sheep in the autumn, feed them and shear them in the winter and then lambing season in spring.
We are running a small mussel farm (shellfish) that we have to attend to twice a week
We are also renovating three houses that we own in the area. We are usually hosting 2-8 people at the same time and our current record is having people from 5 continents at the same time!

It's been over 3 years since we hosted our first volunteers. Since then we have hosted over 200 people and so many of them have visited us again and helped us.
We have absolutely no idea what we're doing right. We ask people to work hard, but we take long coffee breaks that are filled with endless stories and jokes. We have met people from all over the world that we know will be ou... more inside

Is anyone looking for an experiance on a farm in Iceland march, april and may?

We live in a beautiful area in the northern part of Iceland called Skagafj÷rur. Our farm is a dairy farm with 60 cows. At the moment we are finishing a new cowhouse so that we can have around 100 cows. Me and my husband took over from my parents which also live here (separate houses).

We have four children, two small and two grown (21 and 22 years). The smaller ones are a 6 year old girl and a boy, 8 years old. We both work full time at the farm. The kids go to school working days.

The main help is with every day work on the farm. Could be milking or all kinds of different jobs on the farm, and to give us a hand with the kids, like playing or take them for walks f.ex. Maybe cook or bake once in a while but no obligation.

We would prefer someone who would like to stay with us for some time maybe a minimum of 3 months..someone who has a drivers license and is open for a new culture in a happy ... more inside
