Farming and Artplace

The village Ahrbrück is in the middle of Germany nestled in the beautiful red wine region known as Ahrtal, a few train stations (*) away from Koeln and Bonn. The landscape here is very green and lush offering a variety of options for local tourism and recreation. I am a 45 years old traveller, who studied fruit farming, and keen on house building. I travel a lot in winter to other places in Europe with my caravan, I did couchsurfing and made in Portugal Wwoofing last year. It`s okay if you don`t speak German, I am also an English and Spanish speaker.

Concerning about the work :
Now I`m currently in the process of making a transition in my life that will allow me to travel more. I have a nice but unfinished house in Kesseling which I`m trying to bring up to a respectable standard. I plan to convert it into a low budget gathering place for artistic, nature-loving people. It is a work in progress which requires both time and effort, and I need help to m... more inside

About us: We are a family with two boys (6 and 4 years old) and we live in a small village near the little town of Dannenberg in northern Germany. Our home is a big old farmhouse with a pretty big garden, beautiful and with a lot of opportunities. We have chickens, geese and about 60 sheep. We grow some vegetables for our own needs. All this means, that there is always plenty of work for any skill level. We both are freelancers, Lisbeth works mostly in the home-office (teaching and translation), Hans Christian works at different sites and is away frequently during the weekdays.

We can use help with the animals, the garden, the renovation work of the house and the other buildings, with chopping and stacking fire-wood, with washing and sorting wool and with our small farming activities in general. We also expect you to help with the every day household tasks. If you like to cook from time to time, you are very welcome. There are many tasks, and we will see which one fits you... more inside

Hello travellers!
Spring is here and I am looking for some help in the garden, with the sheep, with the dogs and in the house. Duration of your stay should be at least 2 weeks. Long-term arrangements are appreciated, too. Hamburg with lots of German courses could be reached within an hour by public transport and 4km by bike.
I live in an 400 years old farmhouse with 3 barns and a huge garden. We are a living community of 5 people between 40 and 60 yo, often visited by our kids, friends, helpxers and couchsurfers. We have a cat, 2 big dogs and 3 sheep. The dogs are always waiting for somebody to play with them or maybe go for a walk. There are lots of things to do to keep everything keen and tidy. For example: Gardening, weeding, painting, renovating, cleaning the house and the yard, cooking meals, cleaning the kitchen etc. HelpXers should be willing to work outside and getting their hands dirty or should be willing to do cleaning work inside the house and they should be flexible. ... more inside

Hi helpers,

we are a lively family of five, but our children are grown up (26, 29, 32) now. And we have 3 grandchildren, 3 and 6 years, visiting us often, and one living in London.
We enjoy having people from other countries staying with us.
Our oldest daughter went to New Zealand and joined helpX as a helper. Some years ago in January, our second daughter went to Australia for 3 month and she had also a lot of very good experience as helpx.
So we thought it is a good idea to offer our lovely home for helpers.

We are living in a forest with a big lake infront of our doorstep.
We have got chucks, cats and of cause fish!
Our home is close to the river "Elbe" and the area "Altes-Land", a region which is famos for growing fruit trees such as apples, pears, cherries, plums,...
The closest city is Stade, where you can find a lovely historic city center.
Also the way to Cuxhaven, Hamburg and Brem... more inside

Hello HelpX-friends,

We, Cord, Sabine, Nora, Leander, are living on an organic farm in a small village close to Hamelin, the town of the Pied Piper/ flautista de Hamelín. It is a small, historical town with about 50.000 inhabitants and a lot of pretty bars, cafés, boutiques, cinemas, a theatre, public swimming pools, smaller and bigger events...

Our home village with about 400 inhabitants is 8 kilometers away from the city center of Hamelin and has got a good public transport. You need about 20 minutes by bus or 25-30 minutes by bike, which we will provide you as a matter of course.

Our son Leander had great experiences with helpx in Ireland and Spain. That was the reason for us to start this adventure at home as well!

You will have your own room and get of course all the food you need and can taste the german way of cooking.

Our agricultural operation has about 100 dairy cows, 200 hectares of land and a few chicken and cats. We need help (4-5 hours a day/5 days a w... more inside

Hello travellers, we start hosting again 29 April 2019 and are looking for helping hands.

We are an organic (but not certified) wine and fruit farm in the South of Germany, run by a middle aged couple (Monika and Sven) since 2008. Our products are spirits from our fruit that are produced in our distillery (we were awarded "best distillery of the state"), wine and honey from our bees. Also we organise wine tastings and group events. Lately we added a little craft beer brewery and we open our beer garden three times a week in the months May, June and July.

The farm is situated in a small village and the people in the village are very interested in getting to know our volunteers. The next town with train station and all kind of shops is only 4km away. It's a very beautiful area with many things to do and to see, nice landscape like the Tauber and Main valleys, beautiful old towns like Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Weikersheim and Würzburg are close with a lot to discover. We offer a warm family atmosphere in our little chaotic house with a garden. After a break we want to welcome new guests/ helpers in our house.
A helping hand is needed in storing wood, helping us in our Events- Business and other household and garden activitys. We offer a private room with a writing desk for our volunteers, full home facility and stationary supplies including wi-fi, printer and scanner. Also you can use our bikes.
We have two kids (11 and 9) and some pets. Our house is located close to the nature. Hiking and biking is very popular. Lohr ist famous for its medieval flair and it´s a pretty nice town to explore. The capital of the district Würzburg is reachable by train in 40 minutes.

SELF DESCRIPTION:

We are a family of 5, parents with three older children. We work as freelancers in the social and consulting sector. Our home is in a small, nice and quiet village only 23km away from Hanover, the state capital of Lower Saxony with 500.000 inhabitants. Our place is very rural and surrounded by fields, forests and some lakes. There are various opportunities for walking, cycling, running or swimming. It takes 15 min by bike or 5 min by bus to the small city of Großburgwedel where you find various shops and everything for your daily needs.

We love making music, reading books and doing various kinds of sports. During garden season we enjoy gardening. Often we eat vegetarian food, but we are not restrictive. We do also bake our own bread, prepare home made yoghurt and in main season the fruits of our garden. We are interested in other cultures, environmental, social and political topics. We`ve got a very friend... more inside
