*** looking for someone starting around the end of December (only girls - long term preferred) ***

Hi all,

We have two boats that we run as B&B/hostel on the Oosterdok, being the city centre harbour of Amsterdam.
A fun loving multilingual team of 4 people is in need of your help to run the boats and have a lot of fun (as well as discovering this way of living on a boat that so many Dutch choose!).

The work consist on a bit of everything, depending of the days and the needs (mainly cleaning tho). But most important is to enjoy talking to people and discover our nice customers by exchanging with them. They are almost all international guests so English is the main language on board which help everyone to speak to everyone.

Work is 4 hours a day for 6 days a week.
We offer different hours of work depending of the days which provide you plenty of time to explore the city at your convenience and enjoy all Amsterdam has to offer to you. We also have bikes that will allow... more inside

Update 26 April 2018

We are three people and we settled in december 2015 into an old house situated in one of the 24 most beautiful villages in Wallonia. After having restored the house and divided it in three appartements we think about other works to do.

We're from the same family: Christiane, Julien and Damien (plus his two girls), trying to live in simple and sustainable way, looking to be more self sufficiency. We're open minded and we love to have new experience because we think that we all learn from each other. And sharing moments together may be an occasion to learn about other cultures and hobbies. We make some sports like: running, biking, kung-fu, hiking ... and have some interest for reading, cooking, photography and artistic creations.

We dream about lot of projects for future; organic micro-farm with animals, small grocery, treehouse accommodation. It will take time but we are not in a hurry.

There are various works at home and in the farming garden.

!! No volunteers needed at the moment !!

My hostel is a great place to experience local life, culture and history. All my rooms are themed and provide background information on typical Dutch places, things and people. I have a team of 10 locals which are all enthusiastic about where they are from. We are like a family and welcome you to join us.
Throughout the year I am looking for 2 people to help out. There are several things I need your help with. During your stay you will do all the jobs.

1) Being the nightwatch. You sleep next to the night entrance, if people lose their card to enter, or the fire alarm goes off, or guests make too much noise you are the person to come into action. Generally you sleep like a baby, but in case something happens you jump on your feet and go for it!

2) Help in the kitchen
In the morning you are helping me out in the kitchen during breakfast. You will prepare lovely local goods and you don't even need to be a kitchen-prince or princess ... more inside

Hello!

We can offer a nice place to stay from the end of March till half november. In this period we have place for maximum 3 helpers. The minimum period to stay is 2 weeks but we prefer longer.

For 2018 we do not need any more helpers but you can ask, also after half november. Maybe we have work for one or two weeks.

In our big organic garden with a beautiful design we grow, show and conserve the biggest private collection vegetables and other eatables of the Netherlands. We grow over 100 kinds of potatoes, 80 different garlics, 300 types of beans, many different nuts, herbs, flowers, fruits etc.

In summer we organize touristic activities on the gardens. We live in the north of Holland, surrounded by a varied and beautifull countryside. Our gardens are situated in the historic prison village of Veenhuizen. Nearby is the pleasant city of Assen and the big student city Groningen.

You are very welcome to help us with sowing, weeding, harvesting and a lot of other thing... more inside

We live in an old farm in a dead-end road. The farm and its surroundings need some repair and some refreshment before any agricultural or other activity can take place.

It's a quiet and natural place, with some forest, ponds, and old fields, in a village called Schadeck, near Arlon (BE - 10 min) and Luxembourg (LU - 30 min). There are some empty rooms and beds, and a lot of "little work" to do, like preparing some farming or restoring some stuff, so I though this is a good solution. We mainly use recycled materials or things we find to "repair" this place. We have the electricity almost everywhere (yeah, yeah !), running water and WIFI...

We are 3 guys living here (26->28), with a friendly dog, and an old cat... and a lot of people passing by with a lot of other dogs. We eat sometime fish but barely no meat, and a lot of cheese and bread we cook on fire (I personally cook it, and it's really good!!!^^), so that's the kind of meal we are offering. Oh, and we love music, so a lo... more inside

Our house
We live in a nice and small town in Belgium called Maaseik, which is _6__km from the Netherlands and _12__km from Germany. Our house is our dream home with a big forest-like garden. We grow lot of fruits, vegetables and herbs, all of which we try to eat every day. We also have chickens and ducks which we keep for eggs and sometimes meat. In the middle of our beautiful garden, and separate to the main house is a Holiday Cabin, with sleeping space for up to 3 people and its own toilet and shower. This will be your own private living space while staying with us.
About Us
I’m Marijn and I am an artist (writing and painting), chef and bartender and work different hours each week, but am home often to work around the house. My partner works full time for UPS and is away from home from 5am-7pm therefore access to the main house is only until 8:30pm so he can get a good sleep. I am a working professional (Process Control Systems) renovating/restoring a small house in the Luxembourg countryside. It has no connection to the electrical or water grid (and no possibility)- all power comes from 6 solar panels/batteries for lights, running pumps, charging phone ect.. Water is from a spring and piped (filtered)into the house.

The renovation work has been with with a sustainable and low embodied energy mindset - almost entirely with earthen (clay) plaster and adobe with over 8 tons on the walls now, LED lighting, warmwater/wall and floor heat from a woodstove heat exchanger.

Current and Further projects - Rammed earth floor, Garden, fish pond, swimming pond, water reservoir, grey water filter system fruit trees and much more.

I am happy to teach anything I have learned and practiced from electrical and plumbing, to clay plaster, rammed earth floors, tadelakt, gardening, ect..

CURRENTLY NOT HOSTING

SOCIAL MEDIA & FILMING
I need someone who is a videographer (that also knows how to shoot photo's) that can shoot with me and to run my social media accounts (only exception: if you are a great English writer/journalist instead of shooting video's).

I am spontaneous, yet modest. I have respect for other peoples believes and their way of living. I have traveled in Europe, the States and Africa: due to my mothers foundation. She is building her third primary school in Sierra Leone. I am very proud of her and her team, so I helped out a lot in the past with organizing charity events.

I am a dancer and I would like to promote my dance by spreading video's, blogs and pictures. This is why I need help on social media and marketing. I am open to ideas and suggestions. I most definitely am!

You will mostly be in control of your own schedule, because social media is running 24/7, (posting, increasing followers and interaction combined with shooting with... more inside

Come live and work in back-to-basics paradise for a while!
This is a healing and inspiring place that is already serving by bringing people together in a most harmonizing way. All people that have been here, go back home a more connected person. When you are volunteering at The Oak, you become part of a small-scale project with a great impact.

Staying for at least two weeks helps to get familiar with the work that needs to be done, although shorter stays are welcomed as well. (There is no max. duration for stays, as long as it feels good to all.)
Wanted from April on: cooks responsible for the kitchen; (ecological) builders and people with carpenting skills. However, anyone who is a bit handy and wants to be part of manifesting this (already) healing project is very... more inside
