LANGUAGE EXCHANGE IN PICTURESQUE CANTABRIA

PLEASE READ OUR FULL PROFILE BEFORE APPLYING and be aware that we can only accommodate ONE person at a time for a maximum period of TEN days.

ABOUT US:
I’m a Spanish teacher from Brazil, married without children. Since I work as a private English tutor, I’m always very busy teaching and preparing my lessons from September to June (Spanish academic year). Apart from that, I also do voluntary work teaching Spanish, mainly to refugees and asylum seekers. My husband works for the health service. Both of us can speak English and Spanish, besides that my mother tongue is Portuguese and I can get by in French.

As I’ve stated, for personal reasons, we can only host ONE volunteer for maximum TEN days at a time. And as much as I like good conversation (about politics, environment or culture), I also like to be quiet, chatting with my husband or doing my own things.

Speaking about us, we’re eco-friendly (recycling everything and saving ... more inside

We are located in the foothills of the Natural Park de Los Montes de Malaga (800m high) close to the city of Malaga, A beautiful and peaceful location overlooking the mountains and Mediterranean sea. Currently, we are in the process of creating a rural eco-friendly guest house. There are four houses located on 8 hectares of land surrounded by Almond and Oak trees.

We have a variety of projects we need help with such as general work around the house and grounds, gardening, painting, small building projects etc. Knowledge of building skills, also a few carpentry skills, If you have experience in these areas then Fabulous.

You need to be happy to sometimes work without supervision, open to whatever tasks need doing.

Hi, we are Dutch farmers in Spain, in Salamanca.

From March until May a lot of babies will be born. So we herd the mothers and take care of the little ones. We really need volunteers in this period, because watching to see if the babies grow well, takes a lot of time.

We now live in a small village called El Payo, province Salamanca. A very quit place. There is a lot of terrain to herd the goats in the way we want: quiet and a lot of food. Now we have 150 cabras and 50 cabritos.
We herd all year around, every day with our shepherd and guard dogs.

From June until September we milk and make cheese. We built a cheese-dairy in El Payo and we started to produce cheese in May 2018. Small-scale and all organic!

In November and December we also will be harvesting olives.

Always we are cleaning fincas, pruning, cutting and collecting wood, repairing the house and stable, repairing walls and fences.

We will, off course, supply bed and meals and free time to enjoy the pla... more inside

Hi there!!

We are a couple, Bego and Manu, living in the magic neighborhood of Sacromonte in Granada. Sacromonte is a neighborhood where people lives in caves. It is part of the old city of granada, located just in front of the Alhambra, the only surviving palatine city (a royal territorial center) of the Islamic Golden Age and a remnant of the Nasrid Dynasty, the last Islamic kingdom in Western Europe.

In the old years, Sacromonte was the home for the gypsies from Granada and became one of the most interested places to visit in Granada because of the flamenco shows that you can see in many different caves. Actually it is a bohemian and artist neighborhood where people from all over the world lives and exchange their art and their experiences.

We live in a cave just 10 minutes walking to the city center and 5 minutes by bus (bus stop just 1 minute walking from the cave). Our cave has 2 rooms, kitchen, bathroom, living room and an amazing terrace with views to the Alhambra... more inside

Last minute: Looking for a helper in August/September

About myself: Hi there, I am Stefanie, a 32 year old Austian that studied turism, loves the nature and outdoors and set off to work and travel the world at 22. My mission was to find the best spot, settle and build up my own project based around turism and nature.

About the Finca: La Finca la Palmera is more than 100 year old former farm house that I now call my home. It is surrounded by 3.000m2 of land (by now most of it a beautiful garden with flowers and palm trees, the back bt still in progress with the mission to turn it into a veggie garden). There is another building with 5 rooms that I rent out in summer to turist seeking nature and getting away from the crowds.

The help I need: At this time of year it works as a Bed & Breakfast so basically I need someone to help preparing breakfast and maintaining the finca which envolves weeding, watering and a bit of cleaning.

What I can offer: A private room with private... more inside

Hi!

I'm looking for an experienced plasterer who can finish a wall before doing the painting. Also, it would be great to have someone with electrical skills. I basically need a room to be rewired.

You'll be working 2,5 hours a day (Monday to Friday) in exchange for accommodation and breakfast. There's also a possibility to work 5 hours a day: in this case, accommodation and all meals would be provided.

You will have your own private bedroom, linen provided, access to laundry, etc. I do not have internet at home. Grocery stores and a big supermarket nearby. The flat is in a quiet neighbourhood near the mountain but only at 15 min. to downtown. Smoking or heavy drinking not allowed in the flat, but occasional light drinking is no problem.

As for the work, you can organize it as you like: work a little every day or maybe you want to work full time and then have the rest of the days off so you may have plenty of time to explore the city and surroundings. There's a lot ... more inside

Hola!

Next vacancy for september.

We are looking for responsible and fun people!!
Minimum stay 2 months.

We are two friends running a hostel situated in l’Eixample, in the heart of Barcelona`s modern city; only 5 minutes walking from Barcelona’s Old City, 10 minutes walking from Plaça Catalunya and very well connected to public transports. It is a small hostel in a very old building and the ceilings and floors with coloured tiles have been kept the way they use to be, making the hostel a charming and unique place to stay. We don’t think that being on holidays involves necessarily getting drunk and behaving disrespectfully. Thus, we want a hostel for those who want to visit all the nice sights of Barcelona but who also need a clean and quiet place with a nice atmosphere to sleep at night and get to know other travellers.

Therefore, we are looking for a clean, responsible, friendly, tolerant and quiet volunteer who share our values and really want to get involve in this... more inside
