We are sorry to say that, in the current circumstances with regard to C-19 and government guidelines, we will not be accepting applications for volunteer positions until further notice. Stay home and stay safe.

We are a British family who have lived on our smallholdng in Transylvania for three years and are still renovating, building and planning. We have turned some land to growing our own vegetables and are planning to have chickens in the near future. We are still at the very beginning of our adventure and have a lot going on both inside and out. We hope to find responsible, like-minded people who will help with projects, offer their ideas and skills and collaborate with work and planning. Work includes gardening and landscaping, small maintenance projects like painting and carpentry or building. Lots of good home cooked food and excellent ensuite accommodation on offer in return.

SORRY, WE CANNOT HOST VOLUNTEERS DURING THIS PANDEMIC!
We are an enlarged family, an association supporting people with special needs to integrate step by step into community life. We have several buildings (residential, workshops and sheds), vegetable gardens and parkland - all needing help for care and upkeep.
We have had good experience since many years with serious and open-hearted volunteers who have come for a week or two up to a year or more to share our life and tasks. We look for volunteers who can help us with the organic gardens and food production, and with doing up the buildings (incl. furniture) and their surroundings. If you have musical, artistic or craft skills, there are many people here waiting to join you in activities.
We can offer food and lodging as well as enjoyment of a pleasant surrounding you can explore by foot, bike, bus or car.
We have a policy of no drugs and no boozing. If you want to invite guests in, we request you to inform us first.

The elderly in these parts have miserable pensions and many when they become widows are left with little assistance. To help, a Canadian-Romanian family are building a charity home for the aged townsfolk without families to support them. The building will also serve as a community centre, and eventually an organic farm will be started too.

A video log of Lisa and our project was done by an Australian family of 5 who came here. They have their own vlog project and website. At the same time that the family was here, we received a group of about 25 cyclists that were brought here to help. They were featured in the video shown below.

[Please note that the town of 'Lisa' where the project is situated, is the 'Lisa' in Teleorman County, NOT the town of 'Lisa' hundreds of kilometres north in Brasov County, in the Fagaras area!]

!!! Desperately need help. Contact me for more info !!!

I have a small farm that l want to expand and keep as organic as it used to be when my grandparents used to run it. I have little experience in agriculture and am mainly learning on the job.

We offer bed and food to anybody willing to help run the farm. Hours are flexible, but generally 25 hours/week and we take Sundays off for sailing or relaxing. Depending on who is here and what projects we are working on, we sometimes work longer days one day and shorter days another day. We have internet and bathrooms both indoors and outdoors.

We have some animals: pigs, chickens and of course some cats and dogs. So anybody who loves animals and/or vegetables and doesn`t mind getting dirty is welcome. We grow tomatoes, corn, potatoes, zucchini, beans, berries, and more, everything in the spirit of permaculture. So there`s many things to do and many different skills are needed. We also have some community projects such as initiat... more inside

Come and do the Timewarp in Transylvania... It's a little bubble of rural paradise, 1,000m up in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania, where villagers still use horses and carts, make hay with scythes, use traditional smallholding skills and have a simple way of life.

I'm Arabella, a British writer who moved to this little corner of heaven in 2010. I share the place with Buster, George, Mouse and their mother Hobbs - my clan of happy cats.

HOME: I have a modest house with a small patch of land in one of Romania's most beautiful villages, Magura, in the Piatra Craiului National Park. (NB This isn't a farm, and the only animals I have are the cats. Between October and May, animals abound, and are friendly, but they belong to the neighbours.) The unspoilt wiildflower meadows and wildlife are famous and a haven for botanists, entomologists, naturalists, artists and anyone who loves wilderness. Mountain ridges over 2,000m high to the south and the north, and spectacular views a... more inside

Hi, we are a belgo-romanian couple with a babygirl, 2 lovely and crazy dogs, 2 cats and a bench of chicken and ducks around. We live in the little city of Rasnov for almost 2years now. We are interested in permaculture, organic farming, autoconstruction. We would like to build a Walipini (underground greenhouse), some new houses for the chicken, to organise a little more the garden now that we finished to build our house. Don't worry, there is no digging included in our offer :-) that's something we manage by our own ! But there is a neww to "clean" the garden side, to build the greenhouse with wood, some roofing material and old windows, to build the houses with thai daub (soil and straw)... That's why we are looking for you :-)
I added some work plans in the pictures to give you an idea of what we are going to.
We live in the city center of the historical city of Rasnov. Rasnov has a castle and in not far from the big city of Brasov (bus and trains to there) and the Bran castle.... more inside

Hey you ! Do you want to come and spent some nice time in wild Transylvania ? It's a place where the time has stopped and rural life isn't a fake touristic attraction but beautiful hard reality.

My house and grounds are located in the hills nearby Bradetu village, 750m up in the Carpathian Mountains by the foot of the highest part - Fagaras. The environment is a healthy variation of forest and prairies, streams and rivers blooming with (sometimes rare) life. The air is clean, fresh and the night skies are glorious.

*Home
My home is an eco-friendly straw bale construction. Clay was used for the finishing of the straw walls and interior walls. The floor of the attic was filled with sheep's wool. You will have one big room with spectacular views all around. Sanitation is basic because of no running water. In the house is a dry toilet using sawdust, bath and wash-basin. Inside the house you can find mobile signal out mostly only weak, no wifi connection. The sun gives us enough e... more inside

Hello everyone!
We are Iris (25), David (29), Felix (2) and Norah (0) from the Netherlands and we own a really nice, small house with around 8 hectares of fields and forest in Balsa, Romania. Here we live with our dogs and cats.

We've been looking for a piece of peace for a long time already and now we decided we found it.
In the hills of Transilvania where it sometimes feels like time has stood still. In a good way!
So many mysterious and interesting natural places around us we have yet to discover. What we've seen so far makes us confident we will have a never ending adventure here.
We don't like to give a name to what exactly we are doing but we could try to make it a bit more clear. Our plan is live in a small community kind of place. Not a community where everybody lives together and shares everything, but more a village with people that like each other and have more or less the same ideas about life. About why we live and what's important to teach our children. Within... more inside
