You are invited to share in this sustainable living experience in front of the ocean in Nova-Scotia.

What you get:

Be part of our family - work hard, play hard, eat well !! We always have yard work - now we are starting to harvest the garden and make pickles.

Our family live in a century old farm house on a three acre property outside of Victoria by the Sea, PEI.

Easiest way to get to our home is by Maritime Bus - with a drop off in Crapaud.

We have traveled extensively, are entrepreneurial (we own Merry Pop-Ins Childcare Centre, Victoria Homestay, PEI and some rental properties. We do not work a traditional 9 -5 Mon to Fri. We have chosen to live in PEI to raise our two girls (16) and (17). The girls each have a cat: Moo and Cookie. We love the out doors, going to the beach, canoeing and sailing.

We enjoy meeting new people from different parts of the world, and believe that we can learn from each other. We are looking for independent, creative, energetic workers who love life and enjoy a challenge!

In addition to working on specific tasks we ask our helpers to share with dail... more inside

My farm is on a hill bordering the Cape Breton Highlands with wide views of the surrounding fields, forests and mountains. The comfortable, 150 year old farm house boasts all the mod cons (except for wifi but there is internet). There are two horses, a barn cat, a dog and one person, as well as an organic vegetable garden, a budding orchard, horse pasture, ponds, woodlot, natural forest, trails, streams and a waterfall. I ask people to work for 4 hours each morning in exchange for room and board and can accommodate most food preferences. Chores vary seasonally and can include:animal husbandry; tending greenhouse seedlings, planting, weeding, harvesting and processing organic produce; cutting and stacking firewood; fencing; building repairs, trail maintenance, the list goes on. I try to match people to tasks according to their skills and preferences but am also happy to teach people new things. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, my name is Jeff. I have lived on Cape Breton Island most of my life. I have a small property on the outer edge of the national park at Pleasant Bay, halfway around the Cabot Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands. Looking for someone who would be interested in helping with clearing land, cutting and burning trees. I could also use some help setting up a glamping site and helping on a small cottage, no experience necessary. Also looking help with updating and building a website.
Accommodations and food provided, some cooking maybe required. You will have lots of time to explore and hike all the trails! I have a puppy now, " Molly "

We welcome people to come work and learn with us for long and short stays. We produce organic vegetables and pastrured eggs for a two hundred share CSA, farmer's market and for wholesale accounts. Helping new and aspiring farmers to learn new skills is a priority for us.

We are dedicated Christians that are committed to respecting all people. There is a lot of laughter and good times here, but it is not a place to party with drugs and alcohol.

We work with our paid interns from six thirty am till six pm with an hour and a half for lunch. Help X guests are expected to work with us for half the day.

The farm is located on the banks of a tidal river, half a KM from the beautiful Bay of Fundy. We have great biodiversity with extensive salt marshes, forest and fields on the farm. In addition to our three hectares of vegetables, we started planting food forrest trees in '94. Our Korean Stone pines trees are beginning give us pine nuts after 15 years!

Over the last dozen years with a lot of help from people from HelpX.net we have turned this place from an neglected piece of land to a really neat farm. This season we will be raising chickens, a couple of pigs and a couple of beef cattle plus a large organic garden and a small orchid. We also plan to spend a lot of time this summer working on trails and clearing land. Since 2005 we have had a total of 45+ people come and stay with us. Some come for as little as a week and others came for the season. Several helpers have even come back year after year. Located in the rolling hills of Prince Edward Island Canada this 150 acre farm has been certified organic. To date we have restored the original farmhouse and built or restored eight out-buildings, including a machine shop, Garage, pigionier(it's a long story) and a several barns, planted large garden and small orchard, made a large pond and cleared some trials in woods. Check out our website for pictures and information. Lots of wo... more inside

If you love nature you will like it here. With the Atlantic Ocean right on our doorstep our almost 200 year old home stead looks like something out of a picture book. At the moment our family includes five horses and three dogs.We also have a small flock of chickens and guinea fowl for pest control and eggs.At this point we are first and foremost looking for help with horse care and therefore a horse savvy person preferably ( but not absolutely necessarily)with advanced riding skills would be best. The area invites many outdoor activities such as biking, bird watching, hiking, beachcombing, kayaking or surfing. Snowshoeing and x-Country skiing in winter if there is enough snow on the ground..Accommodation will be a comfortable room in our old farmhouse, perfect for a single female, a couple or two close friends.
