Hello, We have on the coast of Maine a small 5 acre National Park vacation yurt rental and we need help maintaining, greeting guests, simple but regular housecleaning, getting in wood, and general managing. We specifically need help at the end of May to the beginning of November 2019 (or any part there-of). Our helpers work approx. 2 hours a day and have a little field to sleep/camp in, using an outdoor kitchen and a shed to store personal belongings, as well. There is no electricity, no bathroom (only an outhouse)and showering is only available at the local YMCA for $2. The property is on a dirt road in a pretty residential neighborhood. We have a spectacular location for exploration of nature by bike or using the bus shuttle to and from Acadia National Park. No individuals under 18 and no drugs or smokers, please.. Dog welcome. Please let us know your situation, and we will see if we are a good match. Bruce & Melissa (owners)
And, Thank You!

Thanks for a great year - we will be looking for new helpx in April.

Our family live in a century old farm house on a three acre property outside of Victoria by the Sea, PEI.

Easiest way to get to our home is by Maritime Bus - with a drop off in Crapaud.

We have traveled extensively, are entrepreneurial (we own Merry Pop-Ins Childcare Centre, and some rental properties. We do not work a traditional 9 -5 Mon to Fri. We have chosen to live in PEI to raise our two girls (15) and (16). The girls each have a cat: Moo and Cookie. We love the out doors, going to the beach, canoeing and sailing.

We enjoy meeting new people from different parts of the world, and believe that we can learn from each other. We are looking for independent, creative, energetic workers who love life and enjoy a challenge!

In addition to working on specific tasks we ask our helpers to share with daily tasks including kitchen work and house cleaning.

Over the last dozen years with a lot of help from people from HelpX.net we have turned this place from an neglected piece of land to a really neat farm. This season we will be raising chickens, a couple of pigs and a couple of beef cattle plus a large organic garden and a small orchid. We also plan to spend a lot of time this summer working on trails and clearing land. Since 2005 we have had a total of 45+ people come and stay with us. Some come for as little as a week and others came for the season. Several helpers have even come back year after year. Located in the rolling hills of Prince Edward Island Canada this 150 acre farm has been certified organic. To date we have restored the original farmhouse and built or restored eight out-buildings, including a machine shop, Garage, pigionier(it's a long story) and a several barns, planted large garden and small orchard, made a large pond and cleared some trials in woods. Check out our website for pictures and information. Lots of wo... more inside

We have a simple but modern homestead in the beautiful wooded hills of central PEI.
We can use help with household chores, small organic vegetable and flower gardens, cutting and splitting firewood, wood trail maintenance, home construction and renovation projects, home maintenance, wood lot maintenance, organizing nails and screws and other hardware, painting, staining and many other small tasks.
We have 'out the back door' access to great hiking and skiing trails and canoeing. And we're close to the South Shore beaches and lovely villages (everything's pretty close on PEI). We love and sometimes organize singalongs and community dances.
Fragrance free zone!

Hello,

We are a small farm that will be entering it's 6th year of production. However this year is our first year at our new permanent site!! Exciting!! We run a small CSA and go to the market once a week. We use organic practices, but are not certified. We are constantly learning and wanting to try all sorts of interesting techniques that will make our farm as sustainable and healthy as possible.

Together our passions include: food, farming, art, wild-crafting, the outdoors, brewing beer, fermenting stuff, building, music, windsurfing, canoing, biking, canning.

Martin is an artist and got taken on this farming journey by his partner Venessa. Venessa studied Agroecology and got taken on the farming journey, by wanting to add some practical skills to her degree, which led to a great desire to have her own farm, and here we are :)
As an artist, Martin paints, makes short films, builds, puts together cool things that we can use on the farm, he will make wonderfull things ou... more inside

Welcome to our little homestead, an old farmhouse on a few acres of land bordering the Oromocto river. The capital city of Fredericton is just 15 minutes away by car, or one hour's bike ride on the nearby Trans-Canada Trail. There is a river in our backyard to enjoy, and a really nice sandbar beach just down the road from us.

We have many projects on the go, mainly around fixing up the house and growing more of our own organic food. During your visit, you might be looking after our small flock of happy chickens, maintaining our vegetable garden, planting fruit trees, building a greenhouse or gazebo, painting, and more. Experience is not required, but always welcomed.

We ask for 4 hours of help, 5 days per week. Then you have the rest of the day to relax with a book from our library, float on the river with a cool drink in hand, go swimming or for a canoe ride, go for a bike ride on the trail, play guitar, or just sit and watch the chickens scratch their chicken poetry in the ... more inside

We are a Registered non-profit farm animal sanctuary. A small Hobby Farm full of rescued farm animals. We are trying our hardest to be sustainable, and would welcome a volunteer to learn and grow with us. We have 3 (very friendly) standard poodles, an English sheepdog and 2 Irish wolfhounds. Also 2 house cats (and 7 barn cats). We will integrate a helper with our family, and ask that they share farm responsibilities with us.

We have a working hobby farm with 2 llamas,3 alpacas, 4 sheep, 2 mini pet pigs, 20 chickens, 15 runner ducks, and 7 barn cats. Our animals are our pets, and we use them to educate others on the benefits of small scale farming and self-sustainability, and the importance of heritage breeds. We are in the process of learning about hydroponics and have a couple small hydroponic vegetable gardens. We use only alpaca or sheep fertilizer from our own animals, and are trying to also use a variety of heritage seeds. Helpers are invited to join us for a fun and... more inside
