If you love nature you will like it here. With the Atlantic Ocean right on our doorstep our almost 200 year old home stead looks like something out of a picture book. At the moment our family includes five horses and three dogs.We also have a small flock of chickens and guinea fowl for pest control and eggs.At this point we are first and foremost looking for help with horse care and therefore a horse savvy person preferably ( but not absolutely necessarily)with advanced riding skills would be best. The area invites many outdoor activities such as biking, bird watching, hiking, beachcombing, kayaking or surfing. Snowshoeing and x-Country skiing in winter if there is enough snow on the ground..Accommodation will be a comfortable room in our old farmhouse, perfect for a single female, a couple or two close friends.

Hi, my name is Jeff. I have lived on Cape Breton Island most of my life. I have a small property on the outer edge of the national park at Pleasant Bay, halfway around the Cabot Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands. Looking for someone who would be interested in helping with clearing land, cutting and burning trees. I could also use some help setting up a glamping site and helping on a small cottage, no experience necessary. Also looking help with updating and building a website, if you know wordpress that would be great.
Accommodations and food provided, some cooking maybe required. You will have lots of time to explore and hike all the trails! I have a puppy now, " Molly "

This is a nascent family farm that wants to be a soil-building, carbon-sequestering, food-raising, community-nurturing, nature-connecting, regenerative permaculture homestead and learning centre when it grows up.

The household is focused on learning about all the things. There is an extensive library, musical instruments abound and a love of food, locally and sustainably grown, is central. We work hard but also love being creative, having Pizza and Movie Night and exploring the woods to ferret out some of Mother Nature`s secrets. We speak a little French and are interested in learning about Your launguage and culture.

Usually we will work together on projects, but I sometimes have non-farm-related work that takes my time and attention, so the ability to work independently is important. Generally I expect 4-6 hours of work a day, depending on what needs doing at the time.

We use permaculture principles and try always to partner with and learn from Nature in creating this spa... more inside

We are a busy professional couple with 2 kids (3 yo and 1 yo), 2 dogs, 2 cats and a horse. We are a fairly active family and bike, ski, skate, ride, slide, hike, swim, camp etc.

This would be mostly entail helping out around the house and occasionally helping with the kids due to a lot of conflicting after-hour work schedules.
There are lots of outdoor activities around the area, access to trails, if you are also a horse person we keep our horse at a nearby barn to ride and drive.

Space available!

I moved to this beautiful region of Nova Scotia 7 years a go after living 10 years in Britain. I've recently opened our artisanal micro-scale goat cheese dairy. I run a pastured ethically minded operation with dairy goats, heritage breed pigs and poultry.

My home (and the farm) dates from the 1780s when German settlers first arrived to this region of Canada.

The farm is a mix of woodlands, pastures, an old orchard, some ponds etc. and is near the gorgeous seaside town of Mahone Bay (10 mins by car, 30min by bike) but also completely private. Most everyone comments that the farm is a beautiful and peaceful place.

There's kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding etc nearby. The UNESCO World Heritage Town of Lunenburg (lots of German and sailing heritage) is also nearby and Halifax is an hour away. The South Shore of NS is known for its beautiful coastline, antique shops, wineries and sandy beaches. There are multiple farmers markets in the vicinity.

This is a cross between a homestay and a farmstay- it's a hobby farm with a summer vegetable garden and some livestock. I try to produce as much of my own food as I can on the farm, and the long-term goal is to make the place as self-sufficient as possible. I am constantly working on improving and expanding the farm, as well as doing repairs and renovations as needed. The farm is currently a one-woman show, so it takes a lot of time and effort to stay on top of the work.

Current livestock consists of a few chickens and a pair of ducks. This is also the home of the local guinea pig rescue, so there's a varying number of cavies in the house at any given time. There are also 2 small and friendly dogs and 3 cats (2 are indoors, while one happily lives in the barn). If you have allergies, be prepared to bring your medications! There is a guest room available for the helpers, which can be kept pet-free if necessary.

The house/farm is a 20 minute drive from Dartmouth and Halifax. P... more inside
