I live on 24 hectares (60 acres) of waterfront property, with a beach, very rural, mostly bush. I am developing a half acre organic garden for market produce. Between May and October I need help with building raised beds, filling beds, planting, weeding, watering, protecting, and harvesting produce. Some carpentry skills would be a great asset. Work schedule flexible, close to the ocean, the Cabot trail, many beautiful beaches, live Celtic music, hikes, kayaking and canoeing. One or two bedrooms in my house available. Vegetarians easily accommodated, pets and a well behaved child or two welcome. I have a dog.

Hi, my name is Jeff. I have lived on Cape Breton Island most of my life. I have a small property on the outer edge of the national park at Pleasant Bay , halfway around the Cabot Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands. Looking for someone who would be interested in helping daily cleaning and cooking, I could also use some help setting glamping site and working on a small cottage, no experience necessary. Also if you know some basic yoga that would be a plus! Accommodations and food provided. You will have lots of time to explore and hike all the trails!

The farm is situated in Nova Scotia on Canada`s east coast, more precise: on the Minas Basin the very tip of the Bay of Fundy. We are the home of Norwegian Fjord Horses. The pastures go down to the shore line. This place is famous for the worlds highest recorded tides, 12 - 16 meter twice daily. It is one of the most spectacular and magic places on earth.

If you love nature, are interested to have contact with gentle horses, and learn about natural horsemenship, you are on the right place.

The youngsters need some training and the older horses love to go on the trail.

One or two are welcome to help with the horses and all the work in and out on the farm. -No fear there is plenty of free time too.
Good riders preferred.

Hello, we are an older couple living in a house with 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. My husband loves to cook and look after people. I am still busy helping my daughter with her business. We have a golden retriever and a cat in the house, both part of the family and we love them very much.
We live right on the Bay of Fundy, at a beach, and it is beautiful.

Since we are older, we would need help with mowing, painting, walking the dog, etc. I am also a vendor at the wolfville farm market and might need help there also. We are always busy in the summer and there is always stuff to do. I will spend time also in Harbourville, where we have cottage rentals and would also take you with me to Harbourville.

You will have your own room, great food and be right on the water.
Drop me a line of you are interested. Cheers, Maria

Starting in 2010, we have been developing a small mixed farm in beautiful Lunenburg County Nova Scotia.
Our focus has been on naturally re-invigorating the land with long-term approaches to soil and eco-system health. To this end the farm uses:
- holistic managed grazing with mixed animal species
(cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, guineas and
honey bees at present)
- organic and biodynamic applications in the vegetable
gardens
- little to no machinery. The garden utilizes a permanent
bed system and hand tools.

Work opportunities largely focus on planting and managing the garden. In 2015 we may also be working on a barn building project using traditional timber frame construction methods.
We have a very basic 1 bedroom apartment available here in a separate building for housing.
Work opportunities exist from late April through November.

This is a cross between a homestay and a farmstay- it's a hobby farm with a summer vegetable garden and some livestock. I try to produce as much of my own food as I can on the farm, and the long-term goal is to make the place as self-sufficient as possible. I am constantly working on improving and expanding the farm, as well as doing repairs and renovations as needed. The farm is currently a one-woman show, so it takes a lot of time and effort to stay on top of the work.

Current livestock consists of a few chickens and a small flock of quail. This is also the home of the local guinea pig rescue, so there's a varying number of cavies in the house at any given time. There are also 2 small and friendly (though noisy) dogs and 2 cats. If you have allergies, be prepared to bring your medications! There is a guest room available for the helpers, which can be kept pet-free if necessary.

The house/farm is a 20 minute drive from Dartmouth and Halifax. Public transit is available if y... more inside

This is a nascent family farm that wants to be a soil-building, carbon-sequestering, food-raising, community-nurturing, nature-connecting, regenerative permaculture homestead and learning centre when it grows up.

The household is focused on learning about all the things. There is an extensive library, musical instruments abound and a love of food, locally and sustainably grown, is central. We work hard but also love being creative, having Pizza and Movie Night and exploring the woods to ferret out some of Mother Nature`s secrets. We speak some French and are interested in learning about Your launguage and culture.

Usually we will work together on projects, but I sometimes have non-farm-related work that takes my time and attention, so the ability to work independently is important. Generally I expect 4-6 hours of work a day, depending on what needs doing at the time.

We use permaculture principles and try always to partner with and learn from Nature in creating this space a... more inside
