I am mom with 4 daughters who try to make a living from the farm. We move here couple years ago and there is a lot to do. This year, I am focusing on producing vegetables for the market, and establishing medicinal plants for futur use. Depending on the budget, some construction will have to be done. The construction of a root-cellar, some fondation for a new ecologic building and the maintenance of the farm building are projet for this coming year. I am really inspired by the permaculture philosophy and being more as I can green. Others than those project, there is some canning, harvesting, making cheese from our goat milk, caring for the animals; goats, yaks and chickens. The work is sometime hard and sometime easier, I try to alternate. Be aware that you will work around 6 hours a day/5 days a week. On the days off you can do special trip with us or just relax here. No wifi, but access to internet. There is a camper available to sleep. If you want experiment living with a ... more inside

Our ranch is located in one of the most beautiful countrysides in the interior of BC. Surrounded by gorgeous mountain ranges, lakes and rivers, we consider ourselves and our animals to be spoiled rotten. Our 13 acre farm is located 5 minutes from the town center, 5 minutes from the beautiful Clearwater River, and 10 minutes away from Dutch Lake (perfect sandy beach for swimming). Canoeing, kayaking or hiking in the world renowned Wells Gray Park is a great way to spend days off.
Our ranch has horses, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks & turkeys, and 3 working dogs.
Looking for a person to help with our farm chores as well we are currently building a new barn/shop and could use help with the finishing.
In the summer we grow our own garden as we believe in growing our own food or shopping locally.
Check out our Facebook page! (Spoiled Rotten Ranch)

We're away for the winter so we can't take HelpXers now, but we're happy to hear from you if you'd like to come during the second half of March or later.

We - two men, and sometimes our 27-year-old son Etienne, and sometimes an old HelpXer or two who are still coming back) -- live in a beautiful old log house on a traditional, self-sufficient, Kootenay homestead. We've generally got chickens, sheep, ducks, gardens, fruit trees. We're in a small community surrounded by wilderness: Argenta is a friendly place of 120 people — Quakers, hippies and just folks — on the northern tip of Kootenay Lake, at one end of the Earl Grey Trail. (You can walk here in four days from Invermere, or come the more usual way by road!)

There's always farm work (gardening, animals, preserving food and lots more) and lots of projects (building, fencing, wilderness trail building...). And, depending on the season, there's hiking, fishing, canoeing, sailing, skiing, skating and skinny-dipping (yup, l... more inside

We live on a small permaculture farm on the edge of town in Rossland, BC. The farm includes a big garden and animals (goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, & two cats) and a wide range of farm development projects. We’re going into our fourth season on a new property and have spent the last three years doing earthworks, building farm infrastructure, and planting trees & shrubs.

Besides daily chores, current projects include weeding, harvesting & processing, fencing, planting trees & shrubs and various building projects...

Our three young kids are always up for adventure including exploring the farm, bike rides, trips to the skatepark or lake, building things, or jumping on the trampoline.

We welcome friendly & responsible volunteers who are hardworking and share our love for the outdoors. It works best for us when farm volunteers stay at least 5 days to get to know the place. Our usual trade is 4 hours of hard work each day for a place to stay and three meals plus all other living... more inside

Beautiful 160 acre sheep farm with sheep, chickens, kitchen garden, livestock guardian dogs and border collies. We put a very strong emphasis on wildlife on the farm, so agricultural activities do not negatively impact them or water. Nice, clean accommodation in large house, food included in exchange for 25 hours per week work. Free WIFI, own set of rooms and bathroom.
Work consists of helping lambing (in spring) feeding and watering livestock, moving electric fencing, painting (inside if weather bad), misc. tidying in house and organizing barn yard, chicken coop, workshop, harvesting and weeding garden, etc.

We are a 3 acre homestead farm located in the Slocan Valley in south eastern British Columbia.  We have a large vegetable garden and are working towards becoming a market garden.  There are also numerous fruit and nut trees on the property and we keep chickens and sell eggs.

We ask that helpers work 6 hours per day, 5 days per week in exchange for accomodation, fruits and vegetables from the garden, eggs from our chickens, and some staple groceries. We don't expect you to have any specific skills, but we expect you to be flexible, willing to learn and work hard.

Accomodation is a charming and private vintage school bus tiny home. The bus has it's own kitchen, shower with hot running water, dining area, double bed and outhouse.  Towels and bedding are provided.  Helpers prepare their own meals in the bus. There is no cell service or wifi, but wifi is available at the cafe in Winlaw, a ten minute drive away.

Our main projects this year are growing fruits and vegetables in... more inside

Lots of firewood to do this year. Cutting, splitting, stacking.

Domestic house work, organizing, cleaning.

Also some new stone retaining wall building this year. This includes getting the rocks, building, hauling backfill, etc. Good hard labour!

Lots of time for play and conversation!
