We are a couple living on an off-grid land co-operative of 90 acres.
We have cellular / mobile service, and intermittent internet.
We produce our own power using a micro-hydro system which is currently generating 8 KW and is shared by us and the five other households on the land.
This land co-operative works together and plays together but is not a commune. We cultivate lifestyles of low-impact modern living in intentional community while living independently. We aim toward a lifestyle of voluntary simplicity.

We have a large community garden which is not certified organic, but we follow organic gardening principles and beliefs.

We focus on organic growing methods such as hugelculture and permaculture although we are always interested in learning about new ways to grow. We strive toward total food self-sufficiency, however - we are still a long way from that being a reality but close enough to see that it's nearly within our grasp!

We have bee hives on the land.... more inside

We have a sawmill and are building with milled wood from our land. Our sizeable building project is coming along beautifully: there is lots of light, gorgeous wood and a view. We are pushing to get it done in the next 2 months. Then we will be building a shelter for a forest school program we will be hosting in the fall. It will be a post and beam, light clay woodchip structure. Carpentry skills are not required but will offer more independent opportunities. Kurt is a knowledgeable jack of all trades guy and easy-going to work with.

We have spent time lately developing our new permaculture gardens. This is our 3rd year building hugelkultur beds, both big and small. We have a machine that Kurt uses to do the digging and heavy lifting of logs and rocks. We had a busy spring, we built more hugels, planted more fruit trees, berries and guilds to get our forest garden really going. We are expanding our micro clover and other perennials and groundcovers. Our new gardens and our l... more inside

We are looking for one or two friendly helpers to come and help with firewood and/or gardening, light construction and spending time with the boys. We have many ongoing projects and will appreciate support in different areas.
We are a family of 4: Annie & Chris, our two teenagers, 1 dogs, 1 cats and chickens. Our German and Quebec roots found new soil here in the heart of the Slocan valley a few years ago....

The garden is a very important part of our life and is getting bigger every year. We are very interested in Permaculture and self-sustainability. We are looking for motivated help for the preparation of the soil: primarily and foremost lots of mowing, digging and planting. Many other tasks available though!

We offer a beautiful environment to spend some time in the Kootenays, good healthy food and a private space. We live on a beautiful open piece of land in midst of the Slocan valley, 3km north of the village of Winlaw. The valley is an attractive place to visit, surro... more inside

Covid19 update -
We ask that all volunteers would be in Canada since the beginning of 2020.
We might ask for more info about where you are coming from.

We are a family with 4 children, 1 dog, 2 cats and chickens in a lovely house with 1.25 acres of land in Golden, British Columbia.

We mostly speak french at home as we are from France. We are living in Canada for 14 years now.
We would need help with the outside chores as cleaning the yard, working in the garden, and some help with the house chores.
Some Babysitting time might be as well requested depending on references.
