We have a remote wilderness ocean front property on the BC mainland, accessible by our boat from North Vancouver Island. It is off grid and has no cell coverage on most days. We live in Campbell River but travel there as much as possible. There is a cabin and numerous shelters amid the large old growth forest. The beach is a pathway for black and grizzly bear as well as wolf and cougar and the Inlet is home to many birds while the straits have whales, orcas etc. Our approach is best described as pioneering and there are not many homestead skills we donít have. We have tents for guests and would supply all meals and required equipment. We are looking for guests that are willing to work 25 hours a week and that are fit and have common sense and get along well. Skills like mechanics, carpentry, or just the willingness to put in labour would help us complete projects we have on the go from adding a porch and other small carpentry to building a dam on the creek, trail building and getti... more inside

Opening for December
Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River is a beautiful place to experience Fall and Vancouver Island`s great outdoors!!! Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, douglas firs, maples and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the riverís pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. As well, our neighborhood is the access point to many scenic nature walking and biking trails. The 1st three photos are at our home and the others are nearby nearby trails and local vistas.

If you have a specific trade or skill to exchange we can find you a su... more inside

JANUARY THROUGH MARCH OPPORTUNITIES

We realized that we really can use volunteer assistance this winter. There are a whole bunch of building and maintenance tasks that are crying out for us and probably half of them will not get attention without your assistance. No gardening can occur until late March at the earliest but the cottage, the workshop and the B&B space all have little (some big) projects on the TODO list. We are not welcoming B&B or dining guests until February so food events will be scarce until then but we are doing a lot of our jams in January. You could learn a lot.

Read the full profile to get a sense of where we are going and mentally exclude the outdoor work until April. Send your questions and we will find out if you spending time here is right for all of us.

We are foodies far from the centres and trying to help create a culture of great food around us: for ourselves and for our friends. We are also trying to make that happen as much as is possible usi... more inside

We are a couple with a three year old daughter and a one and a half year old son. We have an acre waterfront lot on beautiful Bowen Island. We purchased the house three years ago and are looking for help outdoors with gardening and landscaping mainly in the summer months and interior house cleaning and childcare in the winter months. We are looking for a non smoking, friendly, hardworking and fun loving single or couple for a week or maximum two dependant on how much work we have. Great place for couples as it is quiet and you are working alone so nice to have some company. If you are a single, motivated individual and work well by yourself then this could also be the place for you. We all come together in the evening for dinner and conversation. Come experience one of the Gulf Islands! We are about an hour out of Vancouver.

Hello, we are a heritage family farm with just the three of us (father, mother and son) working to handle the property, we grow fruits, veggies, nuts and also have various permaculture projects occurring yearly. We invest our time in permaculture, new energy, philosophy, invention, martial arts, life study and secondary farm products (making juices etc), and have a long-standing tradition of growing naturally and sustainably. We have found it difficult to keep things organized with only our own hands, so we are looking for people who are willing to help in exchange for lodging.

The exchange would be as follows: We have camping spaces as well as a living suite for 1-3 people. We work 7 days a week, but would only ask for help about 5-6 days a week, for aprox. 3-6 hours a day on a sliding scale, depending on the arrangement we agree on. Cooked Meals would NOT be included at this time, but we have cooking facilities and any seasonal farm produce is shared, including stored fruit ... more inside

Intermediate Mandarin speaker seeking a Chinese speaker, fluent in Mandarin for approximately 4- 5 hours during the day for 5 days with 2 days free. You would be helping me with Mandarin so by osmosis we'd have Mandarin/English language exchange so you can learn English from me! I need help with grammar so I need practice speaking! Cleaning and cooking, running errands, shopping are required for free accommodation, food isn't always included so you'd have to chip in for groceries especially specialty items. We can always discuss when we chat! You won't be working too hard and would have time to go out and about! Hoping for 1-week minimum and there is flexibility so we'd have to chat about what your needs are.
We have a very friendly small dog who loves people. He is also hypoallergenic so probably you won't be in danger of an allergy attack!
Our location is extremely walkable to downtown-15 minutes, seawall 3-mins, Granville Island 10-mins, etc. and the bus is a 2-minute walk. ... more inside

We live on beautiful Denman Island, just a short 10 minute ferry from 'the big island'..Vancouver island. We are a retired couple and are looking for a fellow to help with some of our heavier spring chores, garden clean up, beach clearing and house maintenance for a week or two in the spring of 2019. We offer a chance to sleep in our Oceanside treehouse, with internet and TV ..no bathroom but facilities are very close in the main house..or you could sleep in the main house if you prefer. We would provide three meals a day and expect 4 or 5 hours of work per day. In your free time you would have the use of sea kayaks or paddle boards or bikes... and tons of hiking on the island and nearby.
