Not Accepting New Helpers At The Moment. Thanks

Hello Helpers,

We are a retired couple who have moved to Quadra Island and are in the process of creating a serene oasis on our 3 acre property. We would like to invite motivated, engaging, happy helpers to give us a hand with all manner of manual labour.i.e. preparing the land for a veggie garden and improving what is here already.

Being "morning" people, we prefer helpers who greet the day with good humor and positive energy.

We request 25 hr per week in the mornings. Lunch is eaten together, leaving afternoons free for exploring our trails, lakes, beaches, climbing rocks and quaint village. We provide food for breakfast and supper and it's casual so you can eat when you it suits you.
We also have kayaks and bicycles you are welcome to use. Or, if you wish to stay on the property, hang out on the dock, and watch marine life, (seals, otters, porpoise, mink and tons of bird life etc) you are welcome to do so.

You could find a place with us from February 2020 and onward but our season does not really get going until the end of March. Read on and email me

Do you want to try something a little bit different? Something that takes as its target great food and the pleasures of the table?

We are foodies far from the centres and trying to help create a culture of great food around us: for ourselves and for our friends. We are also trying to make that happen as much as is possible using local foods, neighbour's offerings, and our own produce. That is where we hope you will assist us, working with me in the gardens to keep their abundance coming AND bringing your creativity to the kitchen. If you want to work hard then eat like royalty, we could have the place. If you want to use your off-time playing in the kitchen with us, you can. We would welcome you persuading us that your passion fits with ours, that together we we can discover so much more. Note: we are not vegetarian and would hesi... more inside

We are wrapping up our 3rd transition year and in 2020 become certified organic. There are 7 acres of apples, mostly Gala and Ambrosia, a 2 acre pasture (with sheep, chickens and ducks) and plenty of garden around house, barn and shop. We also have a permaculture orchard with mixed fruit tree planting and companion plants.
The view is brilliant looking out over the north Okanagan valley with Okanagan and Kalamalka lakes in the distance. We're beside a trail system that runs along BX creek, to a waterfall and also along Silver Star Foothills. It is 7kms into town, and about 20minutes up the hill to Sovereign Lake X-Country and Silver Star Ski Resort just beyond.

In 2020 we will have 2 positions with pay and accommodation available for farm workers from March thru October. Either a stipend or wage based on experience.

Would you like to come and help us out?

We are located in Sandspit, on Haida Gwaii, a remote archipelago in the northern part of BC, close to Alaska.

We are a small (5 rooms) and comfortable Guest House overlooking a scenic bay in our tiny community (250 residents) and only settlement on Moresby island. Since a few years, we operate a small Hostel within the B&B, just one room, with 3 single beds in.

There are daily flights from Vancouver to Sandspit, where the property is located, and also a ferry coming from Prince Rupert a few times a week.

I am a 39 year old male, originally from France and in Canada since over 10 years. I just became a citizen in 2018. This is now going to be my 10th summer on the islands. I have been and am still a helper myself and have traveled in Canada using various websites. I have also traveled for a few years in Australia and New Zealand, on Working Holiday Visas.
I am a long distance cyclist during the winter months and like to explore L... more inside

We are a large working cattle ranch in the beautiful Chilcotin region of BC where we raise cattle and horses, as well as a small flock of sheep. We run 1100 mother cows, 150-200 replacement heifers, 80 Bulls, a herd of 20 horses and we currently have 3000 acres in forage production. We do all of our cattle work on horseback the old fashioned way. We have a small Quarter Horse breeding operation and stand an AQHA stallion and raise prospects for ranching, roping and barrel racing. We are a progressive young couple that own the ranch (37 & 45), and we also have other full time employees year round from cowboys to haying crew, contractors etc. We are not certified organic but we do NOT use chemicals, pesticides or implant our animals with hormones. However, we do have a full herd health program that includes vaccinating our animals from disease and we use antibiotics when necessary. Our ranch is located close to the mountains with a river flowing through the whole property and many lak... more inside
