Learn new ways of raising organic crops B.C. is famous for the world over. Stay in the beautiful Cowichan Valley, B.C., in an architect-designed 2018 two story, ocean view house in your own bedroom with bath (couples have a larger, en-suite bedroom), family room (TV, books, wifi) we hardly ever use ourselves in exchange for work on our organic farm growing medicinal plants, in and around the house. There's a lot to learn here and lots of fun things to do.
The beach is a 10 minute walk away, town a 10 minute drive, 45 minutes north of Victoria. Great cycling: bikes to lend - 20 mins. to best coffee shop in the valley, trails, kayaking: kayaks to lend with experience only, and more in the immediate area. The valley is the warmest place in Canada and known for its organic food and wines with the best Saturday market on the island. One of our dear friends, a local artist, has hosted Helpx workers for many years.

My husband and I live in an interesting rural coastal town with lots of writers and artists, terrific hiking, great cultural events and just one ferry ride from the city of Vancouver. We do have a garden and since we are both retired we need a bit more help with house maintenance, yard work, housework. My partner is considerably older than me, cognitively terrific, but having some issues with mobility. He is still active but it's great to have someone around who has some experience working with the elderly. He is a really interesting person with great stories, was the Captain of the Arctic Fox, crossed the Atlantic using Celestial Navigation and continues to be a political activist.
I am a fibre artist, teach ESL online, and offer counselling. I love hiking but recently I don't like to leave my partner alone for really long periods of time. It would be great to have someone who shares our interests in the arts, politics, film, the environment and who could take turns with me being ... more inside

We can sometimes take last minute people and during Covid 19, we may have a separate house available on our property for you.

We can always use carpenters & maybe a plumber, and sometimes offer pay if you want extra hours, (& you are an efficient helper). For qualified carpentry, plumbing or mechanical, we pay extra for the basic hours as well.

*** PLEASE READ OUR AD CAREFULLY, AS WE DON`T WANT YOU TO BE UNHAPPY HERE AS IT MAKES US UNHAPPY AS WELL. We have wonderful experiences with most helpers & have made (& sometimes visited) many new friends! Only people that ignore what we ask for in our ad are unhappy, as it is frustrating for us & also for them. Most helpers don't have any references so we rely on your word that you fit our requirements.
Life is too short for anyone to be stressed out!

*Sorry, but we don't give letters of invitation as it requires us sending the person copies of our personal identification.
