We are a couple with a three year old daughter and a one and a half year old son. We have an acre waterfront lot on beautiful Bowen Island. We purchased the house three years ago and are looking for help outdoors with gardening and landscaping mainly in the summer months and interior house cleaning and childcare in the winter months. We are looking for a non smoking, friendly, hardworking and fun loving single or couple for a week or maximum two dependant on how much work we have. Great place for couples as it is quiet and you are working alone so nice to have some company. If you are a single, motivated individual and work well by yourself then this could also be the place for you. We all come together in the evening for dinner and conversation. Come experience one of the Gulf Islands! We are about an hour out of Vancouver.

Come experience life off-grid!

Lasqueti Island is a unique off-grid island with passenger only ferry service and hundreds of feral sheep. It`s a pretty fantastic place, with a great community of rugged, quirky characters and beautiful mossy forests, rocky bluffs, beaches and wetlands for you to explore in your time off, plus (depending on the season and how long you stay), there is the option of going to dance and yoga classes and/or the community sauna 2x/week, plus various fun seasonal community events like ArtsFest, Firefighters Picnic and the Fall Fair. June-September there is a weekly market on Saturdays. We`ve also got lots of great books on hand. The property has a pond (great for swimming in warmer weather) and backs on to crown land you can hike through down to the ocean. The island has some of the largest tracts of remaining mature coastal douglas fir forest and we see deer and feral sheep, (harmless, small) snakes, frogs and toads, eagles, ravens and lots of other... more inside

Savary Island is one of the most beautiful islands in the Straight of Georgia. It is located at the entrance to Desolation Sound and is accessible by float plane, boat, barge or water taxi from Lund. Savary Island is 7.5 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide at the widest point. Savary is known for its white sand beaches, beautiful swimming waters and stunning ocean and mountain views.

The warm waters surrounding Savary Island make it an excellent location for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, water skiing, boating, scuba diving, fishing and shell fishing (with a valid fishing license of course). The Island also boasts kilometers of hiking and biking trails that wind through the lush growth of fir, cedar, maple, alder, pine, yew and arbutus trees that cover most of the island.

Ourfarm is an organic hazelnut farm with lots of walnut- and fruit trees as well as berries, vegetables and flowers. Currently we have four bee hives, about 20 happy chickens, a dog and two cats.
Our three hay fields are conventionally farmed by another farmer of the Island. Work around the farm includes harvesting, weeding, reclaiming of overgrown areas, firewood from our own forest, fence repair and -building, cleaning and feeding of the chickens, road repair, construction and maintenance of outbuildings, mowing, the handling of any farm machine and several other big and little things as they come up and whatever the day to day business on a versatile farm looks like.
Our family has seven members, consisting of myself and my husband and five grown up children between the ages of 18 and 34 who come and go as their lives outside the farm allow.
Our ideal volunteers are willing and flexible, easy going, don't mind to get dirty and enjoy a happy farm with happy animals and people, ... more inside
