Hi helpers,

We are a, young at heart, retired couple who have moved to Quadra Island and are in the process of creating a serene oasis on our 3 acre property. We would like to invite motivated, engaging, happy helpers to give us a hand with all manner of manual labour.i.e. preparing the land for a veggie garden and improving what is here already.
If you have proven chainsaw operation/sharpening skills, financial consideration could be negotiated.

Being "morning" people, we prefer helpers who greet the day with good humor and positive energy.

We request 5 hours per day, 5 days a week in the mornings then have a big lunch together, leaving afternoons free for exploring our trails, lakes, beaches, climbing rocks and quaint village. We provide food for breakfast and supper and it's casual so you can eat when you want, (or with us, if you eat early)
We also have kayaks and bicycles you are welcome to use. Or, if you wish to stay on the property, hang out on the dock, and wa... more inside

looking for helpers to start right away and throughout the summer months.

I am looking for individuals, couples or groups of friends to help around our homestead! I am seeking help with wood collection and chainsaw work, trail building and maintenance, some basic carpentry, or anyone with plumbing or electrical experience. Also looking for help with cleaning, animal care and landscaping assistance. No experience necessary.

I provide 3 meals/day and a place to lay your head at night.

On your time off enjoy my canoes, kayaks and hiking trails as well as salt and fresh water fishing. I also frequently water ski, wakeboard and go tubbing in our protected bay, or go for a hike up to a beautiful fresh water lake! Our island has no stores or roads so you must be comfortable in remote wilderness areas.

Check us out on Facebook and Instagram as `Cathers Cove`. Transportation is provided to and from Campbell River, BC (we are on Beautiful Sonora Island, an hour boat ride fr... more inside

Would you like to come and help us out?

We now are looking for someone to help out in September and October.

We are located in Sandspit, on Haida Gwaii, a remote archipelago in the northern part of BC, close to Alaska.

We are a small (5 rooms) and comfortable B&B overlooking a scenic bay in our tiny community (250 residents) and only settlement on Moresby island. Since a few years, we operate a small Hostel within the B&B, just one room, with 3 single beds in.

There are daily flights from Vancouver to Sandspit, where the property is located, and also a ferry coming from Prince Rupert a few times a week.

I am a 39 year old male, originally from France and in Canada since over 10 years. I just became a citizen in 2018. This is now going to be my 10th summer on the islands. I have been and am still a helper myself and have traveled in Canada using various websites. I have also traveled for a few years in Australia and New Zealand, on Working Holiday Visas.
I am a lo... more inside

Stay for a few days or if we all get along a week or two. Expect 4 to 6 hrs work but flexible. We are located very close to a secluded beach in a forested area and close to lovely walking trails and viewpoints. And not far to the lake or cafes as well.

I am a full-time artist and my husband is retired. Our lake-front home is in a remote location on Quadra Island with occasional artists visiting or helping with production in the studio. We would like to host a tidy, non-smoker in our home, to help in the studio, with housework and perhaps in the yard. We can only accommodate one person at a time. The studio help requires attention to detail and may involve help with framing, assembling gift cards, or preparing canvases and etching plates. Help with preparation for and perhaps participation in the summer and fall art shows may be needed. Computer skills would be useful with my database and newsletter.
My husband can always use help with the endless yard and house projects and the firewood, but the housework (cleaning) and studio help is our primary need. My website (see link above) can provide more information. A two week minimum stay is required. We have a kayak, and a canoe and an indoor small swimming pool. My studio hou... more inside

A few years ago we left our urban life and set forth on a journey across North America, volunteering on farms and learning about how to live differently on the earth.

Our journey brought us to Quadra Island where we recently purchased an old farm and are in the middle of converting it into a regenerative and thriving farmstead using permaculture, silvipasture, animal systems, compost, food forests...and lots of other awesome things! We think that animals are a very important part of creating a regenerative system. Currently we have chickens (layers and meat birds), geese, goats, 2 dogs and a cat. We are very concerned about climate change and this is what is driving our determination to figure out how to live in a resilient and regenerative way. We also highly value living in community and sharing what we know with others, as well as learning from others in turn.

Quadra Island is a wonderful place to live. It is a beautiful place with a close-knit community of community-m... more inside

Thanks to Caroline, Wyatt, Emily, Marine and Janine and Souhela for all their help this year with gardening, housesitting, cleaning and yard work. Now we're looking for next year for a longer term helper (2-3 months) to help with gardening in the organic vegetable and Japanese style gardens, some cleaning, some cooking. After 4 hours of help in the morning, you have the rest of the day free to play....bike, hike, climb, explore, relax. Driver's license would be helpful. WiFi, bikes, relaxed atmosphere.

Quadra Island is a small piece of paradise; see our previous helpers’ comments. If you are interested in experiencing some laid-back island living, please get in touch and we can discuss more details. We look forward to hearing from you! Thanks!

I live off-grid in a 240 sq ft handbuilt caravan. I am practicing sustainability thru permaculture. my farm garden is beyond organic, relying on natures synergy. It is my dream to be fully self sufficient in food and herbs. also in the dream-works are an outdoor summer kitchen, a solar oven, a solar water heater for the caravan, solar/wood heated outdoor shower and bathtub , a bicycle powered station for food grinding- and electricity production, more food forest which includes the polycultural food and medicinal garden, hoop house, composting toilet, coppiceable windbreaks, stone ridges for heat retention and dew harvesting, tool shed, earth plaster walls and more. You will sleep in a tent, or the living space of the caravan[ I sleep in the loft bed]- or vice versa. Bathing and toiletting are rustic/primitive. I have NO fridge or freezer. My diet is organic, omnivorous and sugar, milk and gluten free. I have chickens and ducks for eggs and meat. I will expect 12-15 hours work a wee... more inside

Ourfarm is an organic hazelnut farm with lots of walnut- and fruit trees as well as berries, vegetables and flowers. Currently we have three bee hives, about 50 happy chickens, a dog and two cats.
Work around the farm includes harvesting, weeding, reclaiming of overgrown areas, firewood from our own forest, fence repair and -building, cleaning and feeding of the chickens, road repair, construction and maintenance of outbuildings, mowing, the handling of any farm machine and several other big and little things as they come up and whatever the day to day business on a versatile farm looks like.
Our family has seven members, consisting of myself and my husband and five grown up children between the ages of 19 and 35 who come and go as their lives outside the farm allow.
Our ideal volunteers are willing and flexible, easy going, don't mind to get dirty and enjoy a happy farm with happy animals and people, good food, good company and interest in enjoying what Denman Island has to of... more inside
