Thank you for you interest! During the current coronavirus pandemic, we are not accepting any help.

We are an artisan couple who are looking for help in our sewing studio and wood workshop as well as with various projects that come up (for example in the past we have had help repairing and replacing our decks, weeding and tidying the garden and property, replacing a ceiling, a small construction project, doing inventory, loading and unloading for market and more). You do not need any particular experience but you need to have an eye for detail and be willing to learn. We make wooden toys and household goods as well as hand sewn hats and hand woven scarves that we sell at market from April to October and at hand-made fairs in November and December. Our usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm with an hour for lunch.

We are a vegetarian household and all meals and snacks are included. You prepare your own breakfast and lunch and we usually eat dinner together. We ex... more inside

Not Accepting New Helpers At The Moment. Thanks

Hello Helpers,

We are a retired couple recently moved to Quadra Island which is a short ferry ride from Campbell River, and are in the process of creating a serene oasis on our 3 acre property. We would like to invite motivated, engaging, happy helpers to give us a hand with all manner of manual labour.i.e. preparing the land for a veggie garden and improving what is here already.

Being "morning" people, we prefer helpers who greet the day with good humor and positive energy.

We request 25 hr per week in the mornings. Lunch is eaten together, leaving afternoons free for exploring our trails, lakes, beaches, climbing rocks and quaint village. We provide food for breakfast and supper and it's casual so you can eat when you it suits you.
We also have kayaks and a canoe you are welcome to use. If you wish to stay on the property, hang out on the dock, and watch marine life, (seals, otters, porpoise, mink and tons of bird l... more inside

We are a family of four with two super cute young girls aged two and four. We live on a little property that requires a fair amount of maintenance as it is in the growing stages. We have about 25 fruit trees that we recently planted, two vegetable and berry gardens, and quite a number of flower beds and a big swimming pond which require a bit of maintenance. There is also a large area of lawn that needs occasional mowing. If there is a special somebody interested in having an incredible experience in a fantastic location on Vancouver Island for a few weeks, we would be thrilled to host you! Your responsibilities would include gardening, weeding, fruit harvesting, algae removal, and care of our two children if everybody feels like you are a good fit! Hours of work would probably be 2-4 hours per day, 4 to 5 days a week, perhaps for several weeks? This could be negotiated. You would have your own room and a bathroom that others use only occasionally. The home is beautiful and close to... more inside

~ SORRY :( We can't take any helpers at this time ~

Perfect retreat space! (Couples welcome)

This is the ideal situation for someone who wants time and space for meditation, quiet reflection, walks in nature, working on your writing or artwork, and such.

Denman Island is a wonderfully quiet, sunny, nature-drenched place to spend a summer! (http://www.denmanisland.com has tons of info about the island.)

From our beautiful 16+ acre maple, cedar, and fir tree forest, you can hike the trails all the way to the park at the southern tip of the Island to look out over the lighthouse islet, see eagles nesting below you, and watch for seals and sea lions swimming. Or canoe on our adjacent wildlife marsh. If you prefer being at the ocean, quiet ocean beaches are about a half-hour walk away, down country lanes.

Here you can enjoy plenty of tranquil beauty and fresh, healing air! If you like trees, birds and wildlife, or relaxing at a beach you'd have pretty much ... more inside

I am a full-time artist and my husband is retired. Our lake-front home is in a remote location on Quadra Island with occasional artists visiting or helping with production in the studio. We would like to host a tidy, non-smoker in our home, to help in the studio, with housework and perhaps in the yard. We can only accommodate one person at a time. The studio help requires attention to detail and may involve help with framing, assembling gift cards, or preparing canvases and etching plates. Help with preparation for and perhaps participation in the summer and fall art shows may be needed. Computer skills would be useful with my database and newsletter.
My husband can always use help with the endless yard and house projects and the firewood, but the housework (cleaning) and studio help is our primary need. My website (see link above) can provide more information. A two week minimum stay is required. We have a kayak, and a canoe and an indoor small swimming pool. My studio hou... more inside

Update: We are currently looking for some helpers to help us get ready for the 2020 growing season. If you would like to come to beautiful Quadra Island and work with us, please get in touch!

A few years ago we left our urban life and set forth on a journey across North America, volunteering on farms and learning about how to live differently on the earth.

Our journey brought us to Quadra Island where we recently purchased an old farm and are in the middle of converting it into a regenerative and thriving farmstead using permaculture, silvipasture, animal systems, compost, food forests...and lots of other awesome things! We think that animals are a very important part of creating a regenerative system. Currently we have chickens (layers and meat birds), ducks, geese, goats, 2 dogs and a cat, and soon we will be getting some sheep! We are very concerned about climate change and this is what is driving our determination to figure out how to live in a resilient and regenerati... more inside
