Opening for December
Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River is a beautiful place to experience Fall and Vancouver Island`s great outdoors!!! Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, douglas firs, maples and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the riverís pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. As well, our neighborhood is the access point to many scenic nature walking and biking trails. The 1st three photos are at our home and the others are nearby nearby trails and local vistas.

If you have a specific trade or skill to exchange we can find you a su... more inside

We have a remote wilderness ocean front property on the BC mainland, accessible by our boat from North Vancouver Island. It is off grid and has no cell coverage on most days. We live in Campbell River but travel there as much as possible. There is a cabin and numerous shelters amid the large old growth forest. The beach is a pathway for black and grizzly bear as well as wolf and cougar and the Inlet is home to many birds while the straits have whales, orcas etc. Our approach is best described as homesteading. We have tents for guests and would supply all meals and required equipment. We are looking for guests that are willing to help out around 25 hours a week and that are fit and have common sense and get along well. Skills like mechanics, carpentry, or just the willingness to put in labour would help us complete projects we have on the go from adding a porch and other small carpentry to building a dam on the creek, trail building and getting in the seasons fire wood. We call our place "Paradise Mountain", as we have 52 acres of secluded paradise, with 5,000 acres of unoccupied government crown land surrounding us. We are high up on a 900 foot ridge on Vancouver Island, overlooking the Straight of Georgia/Salish Sea and Texada/Lasquetti Islands. We are wanting to build a modest and rustic Yoga Camp and Spiritual Retreat, and hope to open it up to the public for the spring of 2019.

We are looking for Yoga or spiritually-minded individuals. Generally, couples or 2 helpxers travelling together work out best up here as most 'jobs' require 2 people....unless you are strong and can handle working alone sometimes. We need people to help build/clear paths for walking trails and also to help clear/build areas for tenting, outhouses, cabin sites.....for 4-5 hours a day, or more if you wish. It would be nice if there was at least a 3-4 week commitment, so helpxers can leave their "Footprint/Legacy" on our Paradise by doing/building their own long-lasti... more inside

Dear Helpers,

We are a mixed (in transition to certified) organic farm operating since 2004 and producing mostly seed crops, Spring and Fall vegetable starts, soft fruit plants, and some native species.

We produce hay, plant starts, fruit bushes and seed crops. We also grow garden produce for our household, but do not sell this. We now have 230 different seeds that we are growing, including some that we have bred and selected here which is very exciting. We have even started 2 new apple varieties!

Our preference is for helpers who will stay a minimum of 4-6 weeks and ideally longer as it takes a lot of our time to train someone to work well in the greenhouses and gardens. The farm also has a nicer community feel when folks stay for longer and we all get to know each other.

The farm is home to two children under the age of 15, so volunteers who are 'kid friendly' work best for us. In addition to the plant nursery and seed gardens, we also have egg chickens, and sometime... more inside

We live on beautiful Denman Island, just a short 10 minute ferry from 'the big island'..Vancouver island. We are a retired couple and are looking for a fellow to help with some of our heavier spring chores, garden clean up, beach clearing and house maintenance for a week or two in the spring of 2019. We offer a chance to sleep in our Oceanside treehouse, with internet and TV ..no bathroom but facilities are very close in the main house..or you could sleep in the main house if you prefer. We would provide three meals a day and expect 4 or 5 hours of work per day. In your free time you would have the use of sea kayaks or paddle boards or bikes... and tons of hiking on the island and nearby.

We have a new home in Sooke, which is half an hour from Victoria. There is city bus access from our home to Victoria. We are looking for someone who can assist with household tasks, both adults work full time in the house. We have two small dogs, and two teenagers who mostly look after themselves. We ask for a few hours of help each day, and in exchange offer meals and accommodations.
We are located near some very beautiful west coast beaches, great walks, and an excellent cycling trail that can take you all the way to Victoria if you wish. A bike may be available for your use.
Our home is fairly relaxed, and we do have a spare room available. My wife and I work opposite shifts, so there is frequently someone home. We are hoping to offer our home to someone who would enjoy learning about West coast Canada, whilst bringing a new culture for us to learn about. We would appreciate a bit of help around the home in exchange, things like occasionally cleaning, a bit of gardening, and m... more inside

Hi! Thanks for checking us out!

*please note, we are looking for someone for the month of January*

We live on a cozy acre of partially forested land nestled in a quiet neighbourhood by the sea just 15 minutes from downtown Victoria by bus - 10 minutes by car. Here we keep 12 chickens, 2 ducks, 5 honey bee hives, our loveable Australian Shepherd named Bandit, our 2 cats (R2D2 and Luke Skywalker), and several small gardens.

We are a 2 minute walk from a major bus route into town and are happy to help with transportation ourselves as well. There are also several small beaches and an oceanside park within walking distance!

Our accommodation includes your own private suite with private bathroom and balcony with ocean view. We also have an outdoor Hot Tub, bicycles, and canoes which we are happy to share!

A bit about us:

After spending 2 years living primitively off the land, Travis returned to Victoria to manage a locally owned hobby farm store. He spends his weekdays ... more inside
