Our farm is 40 acres in the Cowichan Valley, just north of Duncan on Vancouver Island. We are a husband and wife team. Our children have grown and left home for their own adventures. We would love a few extra hands for the summer. We have 4.5 acres of blueberries, lots of apples, plums, and a large vegetable garden. We cut all our own hay for our herd of 8-10 angus/dexter cows and 8 horses we board. We have a farm store where we sell our produce. We would like someone to help us with daily activities, like picking fruit (not the blueberries) But help sorting Blueberries ,mowing grass (ride on mower) or weed and harvest the garden, or other little jobs like painting. The jobs change with the season We would expect about 5 hours daily( 5 days a week) ,but totally open to arrangements when you want days off. We have a very nice 26 foot trailer to stay in. Its fully self contained including wifi. photo is attached, and also we include a scooter for you to drive around if you have a dri... more inside

NOW for JUNE onwards

Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River is a beautiful place to experience Spring and Vancouver Island`s great outdoors!!! Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, douglas firs, maples and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the riverís pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. As well, our neighborhood is the access point to many scenic nature walking and biking trails. The 1st three photos are at our home and the others are nearby nearby trails and local vistas.

We are located on Vancouver Island in the foothills below the Comox Glacier, 6 km. from the ocean and have hosted travelling helpers for 18 years. Accommodation is a rustic and basic bright loft in the bicycle building workshop. (Unheated but with plenty of quilts and a hot water bottle, plus the house is warmed with a cozy wood cook stove in cool weather.) We have several garden plots, a greenhouse, fruit trees and a walnut tree. I am a writer, a folk musician and a community and social justice advocate and Ross is a peace activist, an alternative bicycle designer, specializing in power assist and recumbent bicycles, utility cycling and bike packing. His latest passion is climbing arborist. The tasks depend on the season and include general gardening work such as compost making, planting, weeding, mulching, harvesting, fence repair, plus firewood, bicycle repair, help in the kitchen and occasionally some house work. Hello wonderful Helpx community:-)

Update: Hi Everyone. We have had a last minute cancellation and need wonderful helpers in the next few days for a little while.
We are a family of 5 living near Victoria on beautiful Vancouver Island. In the past, we have traveled extensively, but we just moved into our dream home, and now with small children we are feeling a need to travel vicariously through others and meet some fabulous people. We have met so many wonderful people through helpx!

Our new home has spectacular views, a hot tub and absolutely amazing hiking trails near by. Sooke is 13 km away, and Victoria is 30 km away. The surrounding area is fantastic - ocean beaches and lakes within a few km, many parks, and a great trail system. We have a resident owl who routinely serenades us. Bus service is available, but limited. Crispin drives into Victoria daily for work, so carpooling could be a option.

Our lovely guest room is very comfortable, and has views across the g... more inside
