We are a community farm made up of families and single people who are doing their utmost to live life fully and honestly. In our radical life of togetherness we are being healed of the separation that is so prevalent in today’s society. Come spend some time with us on our organic farm in the lee of Mount Washington, whether it be gardening, preparing meals, caring for animals, working in our Café in Courtenay, singing, dancing, sharing meals, doing construction, processing milk into yogurt and cheese, or sharing your heart among friends (just to name a few!). Always exciting, always social. Come for a day or to stay!

Our family lives on a farm that is somewhere between hobby and subsistence. With an orchard, large vegetable garden and greenhouse, dairy goats, sheep, turkeys and chickens we could do with an extra set of hands (or 2) to help us out! Right now we are in the middle of fruit and vegetable season, so there is a big focus on getting things picked and preserved for the winter. Apples, grapes, nuts, berries and tomatoes have taken over my days! Some of the ongoing projects during the next few months include fencing, landscaping, garden work and animal husbandry. We are a working farm so the work is mostly physical labour and often involves dirt or animal manure. Our expectations of helpers include maturity, good mental and physical health and a good work ethic. We value problem solving, creative thinking skills, initiative, and independence. We appreciate helpers who can manage their own time and projects.
Our Quadra Island property is a 15 minute walk from Rebecca Spit provincial park... more inside

Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River is a beautiful place to experience Spring and Vancouver Island`s great outdoors!!! Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, douglas firs, maples and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the river’s pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. As well, our neighborhood is the access point to many scenic nature walking and biking trails. The 1st three photos are at our home and the others are nearby nearby trails and local vistas.

If you have a specific trade or skill to exchange we can find you a suitable proje... more inside

We are a retired couple living on a lovely 5-acre property, just 12 km north of Courtenay in the beautiful Comox Valley.

We have horses, so experience caring for horses is helpful - but not required!

We also have 2 big dogs (chocolate labs) and a little ginger cat. Our animals live in the house (except the horse!) and are an important part of our family. If you have pet allergies, please do not apply as our animals will be climbing all over you to share the couch!

Private bedrooms and food will be provided for you to prepare your own meals. This way, we can accommodate all lifestyle diet choices and eating schedules.

Our helpers give us 25 hours/week and work on the days they choose so that they can arrange excursions, explore Vancouver Island, or ski at nearby Mt. Washington (20 mins. drive).

Because we live in the country and our helpers have their own private living area, we feel that it is a better situation for couples or friends travelling together as solo trav... more inside

My small farm is located on the Somass River in Port Alberni. I have a small flock of sheep and lambs which are raised for meat, meat rabbits, ducks and geese. I also raise organic produce and maintain large gardens. If you want to experience animal husbandry and the daily care of sheep and rabbits and everyday life on an farm this is a great place. The lambs are usually born in February. The work on the farm is varied, and often involves cleaning barns, helping with the animals and weeding in the garden. Work in the garden and yard starts in the spring.

There are a lot of outdoor activities in this area. Hiking, kayaking, bicycling, with the West Coast Trail,Pacific Rim National Park, Tofino and Ucluelet are only an hour and half drive away. Mt Washington for skiing, snowboarding is also close by. I am on a river so swimming and tubing in the summer is a must. Victoria is only a few hours drive.
