We are located 52km west of Pelly Crossing along the banks of the Pelly River. It has been family owned since 1954 and is the oldest self sustaining farm in the Yukon. We are 100% off grid using solar as our mainstay of energy.
We grow hay and oats as well as have a garden to maintain.
We are looking for reliable, independent thinking, energetic individuals who want to learn about self sustaining living and see some wilderness.
We like our helpers to stay a minimum of 2 weeks and longer due to the distance and idea of learning about sustainable living.

We have found help for this year - Thank you to all who responded. We will be back again next year looking for some help.

We are an easy going couple with 4 horses and a dog. We would like some help during the month of July on our small hay farm at Lake Laberge 30 minutes north of Whitehorse in exchange for accommodations, hearty meals, good company and lots of FUN. Duties vary and include fencing, weeding, helping with the hay harvest, helping to get firewood, and riding and caring for the horses daily. We like to take time out to ride the horses, get out in the boat/canoe, water ski, and play cards. You would need to be flexible with work hours and we would do the same to ensure you get out on adventure and enjoy your time with us. We would like an average of 5 hours per day. Your home away from home is a clean comfortable travel trailer with a beautiful view over the lake and the fields. We have a comfortable cookhouse where we share our meals, relax and hangout. Our place is... more inside

WE ARE LOOKING FOR HOME-SITTERS for 2.5 weeks from August 1st to August 16 or 17, 2019. Dates are somewhat flexible but we will need a firm commitment as we will have to book flights. We are looking for a couple or 2 friends and preferably you have your own transportation.
You have to love animals and nature and be comfortable in a remote location with the closest neighbors 15km away. Experience with animals and a rural lifestyle is preferable. The place is beautiful and the right candidates will enjoy their stay here! Tiny old homestead is in transition and needs help. Situated on the border of the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and a five minutes walk to Bean North Coffee Roasting Co. and their Cafe-in-the-Woods as well as The Takhini Hotsprings. A twenty minute drive to Whitehorse and a five minute drive to the Takhini river, the area offers many options for activities and recreation.

This small rural property (2.5 acres) requires a helper that enjoys being outdoors, is a self-starter and a good worker. Rudimentary carpentry skills and a vehicle would be ideal but arenít a must. Mostly I need a good-natured helper who is responsible and willing.

I plan on hosting for June and August. No smoking or excessive drinking. There are two cats in the home so cat-sensitive individuals may want to give that a thought.

Come and help me learn Japanese Shinrin-Yoku. Learn how to manage stress, focus on life and detox yourself of modern life.

Shinrin-Yoku is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. The name literally mean forest bathing, immersing yourself in the sounds and sights of nature.

This forest bathing helps create the environment we need to unwind and slow down. Enter into a deeper relationship with the natural world.

What we feel instinctively is scientifically proven. This kind of time in nature is therapeutic. Beyond a reduction in blood pressure and heart rate, trees emit phytoncides, antimicrobial volatile organic compounds that protect them from bacteria, insects and fungi. This immune system in the forest interacts with our own, stimulating the production of white blood cells.

Our Shinrin-Yoku sessions are aided by the removal of modern technologies. We shut off cell phones and computers at home too. We use o... more inside
