Are you interested in learning about sled dogs and racing? Have you always wanted to see the Northern Lights? Would you like to be able to combine the two and travel as well?

Yellowknife is the best location in the world for viewing the aurora borealis. As nights grow longer, the green, red and mauve lights of aurora borealis, or northern lights, are absolutely brilliant as they dance across the sky.

We are looking for a volunteer to assist as a handler.

We have a 40 sled dog racing kennel not including puppies in the heart of Yellowknife.

Looking for an athletic, motivated person who loves working with dogs. The dogs are a mix of German short hair pointer and Alaskan husky and very energetic.

We provide room & board, outdoor clothing (if required), meals, laundry & internet.

Depending on ability and interest, there may be an opportunity to try sled dog racing.

You can help with feeding, caring (daily poop patrol) and training the sled dogs and puppies and m... more inside

I'm your host, Tessa and I'd like to welcome you to our place. Relax by the fireplace or out on the deck, enjoy simple living at our pleasant ‘home-stay’ with casual atmosphere and eclectic northern decor.

Myself and my husband Mike are long time northerners. I'm a free-lance photographer, most recently working on a series of children's books about Northern Peoples. We have the pleasure of being in the hospitality business for 25 plus years.

We have a couple greenhouses, two outside garden plots and raised bed gardens, and we keep meat chickens in the spring/summer. We are an Aboriginal couple, who are willing to host volunteers in our 4 bedroom home. We have two dogs, a basset hound and a Rottweiler; they are very friendly and are great chicken protectors. We also run a b&b, a construction business, and also work 9-5 jobs. We are not vegetarian; we do a lot of hunting, fishing, and camping. We love cookouts, and its our nature to share and enjoy food! Our community is right on the Mackenzie River so we do a lot of boating, especially to our cabin about an hour from town. Our home has all the facilities for cooking, laundry, two bathrooms, and internet usage. We are pretty laid back people; we do not drink or smoke. Smoking is allowed outside only. We expect approx. 3-4 hrs of work at the most..we are flexible. Other chores beside gardening could include light carpentry and wood-hauling.

Looking for help with our Racing dog kennel, we currently have 36 racing dogs. We are a family run kennel, our dogs mean the world to us. We both work shift work and we are looking for assistance with doing dog chores and running / racing a team.

Fall training is quickly approaching and we are looking for one helper to come for fall and winter. We are a fun, energized couple, we both work full time jobs and require assistance with running and dog chores.

We live A short distance from our kennel so a drivers license would be an asset.

Looking forward to hearing from you :)
