The Compound is a philosophical experiment. It`s an experiment in communal living, in food production, open-mindedness, alternative modes of being, bartering, agile development and lumberjack architecture. What we`re trying to create here is a sort of communal playground where locals and visitors alike will have the opportunity to do whatever they feel like doing, to learn and teach, to express their creativity, and to have fun. We hope that many people will stay here over the coming years and that each will have an opportunity to create something lasting; from art installations to plant and animal life, from timber-frame building restorations to music and friendships, climbing walls, bike trails, and snowboard jumps. This place is something of a blank canvas, and we hope to create the right conditions that will inspire people to form and then fulfill their own vision.

What separates The Compound from most other HelpX listings is that this is not a commercial enterprise. ... more inside
