Currently we are looking for helpers from mid June - July 25

We are a holiday resort in the North Okanagan area of B.C. Canada, bordering Echo Lake Provincial Park. This area has many lakes and hiking trails and is the perfect area for the outdoor enthusiast. Our small resort is family oriented with just 7 cabins situated around our private lake.
We like to have weekly cookouts with our guests in the summer months and will sometimes also take them on river floating trips. The Okanagan region of BC is a popular tourist destination because of its many lakes, mountains, wineries, golf courses, and ski resorts. Canoeing, Kayaking, Hiking, Swimming, and fishing are also all popular sports here in our area. Our helpers have the use of our kayaks, canoe and bicycles and can hike the trails close by.

The Compound is a philosophical experiment. It's an experiment in communal living, in food production, open-mindedness, alternative modes of being, bartering, agile development and lumberjack architecture. What we're trying to create here is a sort of communal playground where locals and visitors alike will have the opportunity to do whatever they feel like doing, to learn and teach, to express their creativity, and to have fun. We hope that many people will stay here over the coming years and that each will have an opportunity to create something lasting; from art installations to plant and animal life, from timber-frame building restorations to music and friendships, climbing walls, bike trails, and snowboard jumps. This place is something of a blank canvas, and we hope to create the right conditions that will inspire people to form and fulfill their own vision.

What separates The Compound from most other HelpX listings is that this is not a commercial enterprise. That is t... more inside

***Currently looking for someone with mechanical, plumbing or carpentry skills to join our team***

Our 164-acre ranch is located halfway between the Pacific Coast and the Rocky Mountains, right on a beautiful wilderness lake in the Nicola Valley. We lie in the heart of British Columbia’s big Ranching country and are surrounded by vast forests, rolling hills and boundless prairies where beavers, bears, moose and pumas still roam.

As "Private Cowboy and Country Club" we are offering services like horseback riding, boating, fishing, restaurant/bar, accommodations, maintenance, etc. to our Ranch Residents and members only.

Summer or winter, there’s always loads to do with a herd of 11 horses like mucking out stalls and paddocks, maintaining round pen, arena and fields. For the summer / fall of 2019 we are looking for experienced riders who are willing to stay for a longer period to help us with all these horse related tasks in addition to the day-to-day chores at the Ranch.... more inside

Come spend some time at our ranch in the sunny Okanagan valley. Yes we still have bus service here since Greyhound ceased operating in western Canada. Ebus has taken over a route from Vancouver, Kelowna, Vernon & Kamloops so lucky for us. I feel wwoofers will have a hard time getting to their destinations this year so keep that in mind when you are looking for your next place. We are looking for helpers from April til September. We are open to short or longer term helpers. We are located on an 80 acre horse ranch 20 minutes from Vernon, B.C. on Bluenose road in the North Okanagan. After operating a child`s riding camp from 1991 til last year we are now focusing on renting out our cabins/facility. We rent out our facility to clubs or groups for events, weddings, family reunions or getaways. We are ideally looking for a couple or 2 friends but a single person would work out great as well. We need helpers starting the end of June. Housekeeping (cleaning, meal prep), feed and water the horses, dog(s) & cat, firewood gathering, splitting & stacking. We do have an RV site available if you want to bring your camper/trailer.

We ride our horses year 'round so there will be plenty of opportunities to ride (based on your level of experience).

We have a beautiful, off-grid ranch house that we have built from scratch over the past few years. We are a 35 minute drive from downtown Kamloops. We commute to work every day which doesn't leave us much time for ranch chores or housework. We need help! As usual we prefer people who are comfortable cutting firewood with a chainsaw and splitting and stacking it. We offer a clean room in our house and will provide meals, access to riding our horses, miles of beautiful trails for hiking or trail riding. Views from everywhere on our property can be spectacular.
We would be an ideal placement for one person or a couple looking to lea... more inside
