Hello and welcome to all! My name is MaryLou, I live in a beautiful city called Kelowna,a year round tourist destination, just about 4 hours from Vancouver and one hour from Silver Star & Big White ski resorts with Mountain biking and hiking trails in the summer. Kelowna is located in a beautiful valley, I live just a few minutes walk from the gorgeous Okanagan lake and the Mission Creek Greenway. I am very active in the community, helping refugees. If you'd like, I can take you and show you around. I have travelled a lot around the world: India, Europe, Australia, Guatemala and more..!
I would very much appreciate help with some basic house chores, such as cooking, cleaning , light gardening and possibly some snow shovelling in the winter time. Work schedule is flexible and we can arrange a schedule that will work for the both of us. Usually 3-4 hours a day, 5 days a week, so you can have the time to explore and enjoy winter activities. You will have a private room and free acces... more inside

***Currently looking for an experienced rider to join our team***

Our 164-acre ranch is located halfway between the Pacific Coast and the Rocky Mountains, right on a beautiful wilderness lake in the Nicola Valley. We lie in the heart of British Columbia’s big Ranching country and are surrounded by vast forests, rolling hills and boundless prairies where beavers, bears, moose and pumas still roam.

As "Private Cowboy and Country Club" we are offering services like horseback riding, boating, fishing, restaurant/bar, accommodations, maintenance, etc. to our Ranch Residents and members only.

Summer or winter, there’s always loads to do with a herd of 11 horses like mucking out stalls and paddocks, maintaining round pen, arena and fields. For the summer / fall of 2019 we are looking for experienced riders who are willing to stay for a longer period to help us with all these horse related tasks in addition to the day-to-day chores at the Ranch. In spring we are busy getting th... more inside

We are a 500 cow calf ranch, putting 1200 tons of winter feed up, farming, irrigation, cattle movements and calving. Gardening and general maintenance around the buildings. Located 50 km from town in a valley that runs north to south. Private accommodations are available, prefer a couple because of the distance to town but will take singles. Food supplied. If you like mountains, wildlife and exercise and you are interested in a true country experience this is the place to be. We start calving in March through till Mid April. For the summer we are haying, moving irrigation pipes, and cattle around. Round up beginning for weaning in November. There are tasks for all skill levels and strengths so don't be afraid to join us. Would like it if you came for a month but short stays are welcomed. We welcome any help and would like people to share their knowledge with us. No experience is necessary just enthusiasm. We start up in March for calving and run through to December.

The Compound is a philosophical experiment. It's an experiment in communal living, in food production, open-mindedness, alternative modes of being, bartering, agile development and lumberjack architecture. What we're trying to create here is a sort of communal playground where locals and visitors alike will have the opportunity to do whatever they feel like doing, to learn and teach, to express their creativity, and to have fun. We hope that many people will stay here over the coming years and that each will have an opportunity to create something lasting; from art installations to plant and animal life, from timber-frame building restorations to music and friendships, climbing walls, bike trails, and snowboard jumps. This place is something of a blank canvas, and we hope to create the right conditions that will inspire people to form and fulfill their own vision.

What separates The Compound from most other HelpX listings is that this is not a commercial enterprise. That is t... more inside

Welcome to our host site. We are a gay couple, and dreamed of owning our own hobby farm, and decided to make that a reality. If you are wanting to learn about farm animals and work with farm animals then you will enjoy our farm. An interest in learning about farm animals is a MUST to stay here. We are a small hobby farm, in the summer we have a garden, and in the fall several apple trees that need to be harvested. We have a very small herd of 9 cows and calves, 20+ goats. We also have miniature horses and two large riding horses (no we don't allow anyone to ride them, sorry), and one mule. We also have chickens and turkeys, and 2 baby geese. Our animals are very close to us, and we tend to spoil them a little. All our animals are very friendly and love to be petted. We also have working livestock guardian dogs that protect our property and farm animals from wild predators like coyotes and bear and eagles. They take their jobs seriously, but are very affectionate with humans... more inside

We are looking for someone or a couple to come stay with us throughout Oct. 2019. Stay from a week to 2 weeks. Doesn't matter to us :)

My name is Krysalynne, born and raised in the area and my partner Jean-Yves Boucher is Quebecois from south of Montreal. We have both traveled much of the world and loved it! We stayed at numerous helpx hosts as we travelled, learning so much, and meeting so many amazing people! It has always been a dream of ours to open our very own bed and breakfast and host other travelers. We finally opened our bed and breakfast last year and we thoroughly enjoy it! We would love for others to experience the spectacular, wilderness beauty of the Wells Gray Provincial Park and surrounding area. We require a few extra helping hands to finish some projects we would like to complete on our property.

Our property is located 4km from town centre and only a 15-20 min walk to one of the many waterfalls (Triple Decker Falls) in the beautiful Wells Gray Provinc... more inside

We are entering our 3rd transition year to organic status. There are 7 acres of apples, mostly Gala and Ambrosia, a 2 acre pasture (with sheep, chickens and ducks) and plenty of garden around house, barn and shop. We also have 10 acres of hay fields where we have begun establishing a permaculture orchard.
The view is brilliant looking out over the north Okanagan valley with Okanagan and Kalamalka lakes in the distance. We're beside a trail system that runs along BX creek, to a waterfall and also along Silver Star Foothills. It is 7kms into town, and about 20minutes up the hill to Sovereign Lake X-Country and Silver Star Ski Resort just beyond.

At the moment we would welcome some help with picking starting in early september and lasting into october.

*Summer 2019*
Bush Living at it's Finest!
We have moved our 28ft trailer home to a new dirt pad in beautiful Queens Bay, BC, 30 minutes north of Nelson, 9 minutes from Ainsworth Hotsprings and 1 minute from the beach on Kootenay Lake.

I (Kale), am working full time as a guide at Cody Cave Provincial Park (come Caving!), and I've set up a rustic camp complete with off-grid outdoor kitchen, spacious outhouse, scenic bonfire pit, and a small climbing wall!

Rochelle and the kids are working on smaller garden boxes, light landscaping, and frequent beach sessions!

We are busy people and are seeking independent helpers to give a hand with light camp maintenance, construction of the winter shelter over the trailer (September), forest thinning with hand tools (very Zen work), and the multitudes of tasks required for raising kids in a camping scenario! And we just got a very cute Puppy!

We are hardworking, but we value our play time with kids and dogs and friends, we eat simpl... more inside
