No tobacco, please. Also, some of the cabins have showers and flush toilets, some use a rudimentary composting toilet and the community shower has lots of hot water but it isn't fancy. There are chickens wandering around, and they poop. If you are looking for hotel conditions, this isn't it. If you are looking for a beautiful setting and some adventure and would like to learn something about plants and Hawaii, please come on board.

We have a ten acre property with Anthuriums, coffee, orchids and lots of fruit trees, located in the rural side of the Big Island, far from the tourist areas of the state. While the growing is not organic, we try to use as little chemical input as possible. It is a peaceful and safe place, We raise chicken, eggs, and are looking at raising catfish and tilapia. We have two acres of producing coffee and picking season has begun. There is a community garden that helps feed everyone, and how well it is working depends on who is here to work in it. We are a nonprofit farm animal sanctuary located in Laupahoehoe on the beautiful east coast of the Big Island, Hawaii. Our purpose is to prevent cruelty to animals by rescuing animals from situations that are abusive, endangering, or neglectful, and to provide sanctuary for rescued animals. Due to the 2018 volcanic eruptions, our little sanctuary grew fast over night! It is now home to 65 animals and counting including goats, sheep, cows, horses, chickens, pigs, cats, and one dog. We have a mix of feral and domestic animals, babies to great big (300 lbs +) pigs. Each and every one loves attention and will be super excited to welcome you to the sanctuary!

We are looking for experienced, full-time live-in animal caretaker volunteers to assist with the daily animal care (which includes lots of love and cuddling!). We are looking for volunteers with prior animal experience who are committed to the full time animal care position for at least three (3) months to ensure you have time to... more inside

Our main location is on The Big Island of Hawaii. North Kohala is a beautiful area, with clean air and lovely surrounding countryside. We have a large vegan-organic garden where we grow much of our own food, teach others how to do the same and offer free cooking classes, consultations and meals to those interested in transitioning to a healthier, more peaceful way of living.

We also own 450 acres of magnificent New Zealand countryside, which we call Shangri-La, where we have been hosting helpers for the past 6-7 years. The land is situated in a private valley, with two pristine rivers. Each summer season (from November to May) we welcome WWOOFers who are willing to help us lift Shangri-la up to its name, which includes the planting and maintenance of hundreds of fruit trees, lots of flower gardens and several veganic vegetable gardens.

In 1979, we became incorporated as a nonprofit educational organization, whose purpose is to help build a more peaceful society, by educating t... more inside

IMPORTANT: 6/19/2020 - 10/1/2020:
Inter-island travelers only!

I operate a "glamping" campground 10 miles North of Hilo, Hawaii (on the Big Island) near the tiny farming town of Honomu and the legendary Akaka Falls on the beautiful Hamakua Coast.

We live off-grid which mean we get most of our power from solar panels so we are providing an eco-friendly place to say.

It is a small family business and we take pride in offering accommodations that are both exceptional and reasonably priced. Everyone should be able to come visit this astonishing island. Hosting HelpX participants provides yet another avenue for people to experience Hawaii, regardless of their income bracket.

Our guests come from every corner of the world and our place is frequented the most by European visitors, who are looking for a more genuine, less touristic experience.

I find it disheartening that in many hotels, social interaction among guests is not supported and is often discouraged. It is importa... more inside

Aloha HelpX Guest helpers!

Come to Hawaii and experience a Kona Coffee and Macadamia Nut farm! We work our farm consistent with permaculture principles, utilizing all of the waste organic matter the farm produces to improve the soil and benefit the crops.

We are located on the western slopes of Mauna Loa volcano, in the South Kona district, and has all of the tropical fertility for which volcanic soils are famous. Because the farm is a mixed tree plantation, it provides great habitat to an abundance of bird, insect and mammalian life.

We often attend the Pure Kona Farmers Market,
which enables us to share the abundance of the farm, building community and espousing permaculture.

We need guest helpers through the remainder of 2020 and the first six months of 2021. Currently we are harvesting macadamia nuts, coconuts, lychee, papaya, and bananas and are weeding and fertilizing coffee in preparation for the coffee harvest.

The harvest peak season is September through ... more inside
