Hello, we've been exchange hosts since May 2016 and we’ve hosted over 100 people between HelpX.net and WorkAway.info.

Please note: we do not host smokers. Nothing personal but please don't request us to host you if anyone in your party smokes.

About us: Kevin and I work full time. It takes an hour each way to work and back. So we have little time for the farm, housework, cooking, etc. We have 5 acres that are green in the winter after the rains, and dirt in the summer when the sun kills everything. Our area is the High Desert – meaning crazy hot in the summer days, and Freezing temperatures in the Winter nights. Welcome to Southern California.

On our 5 acres, there are steep hills, sheep, chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, rabbits, bees, cats & dogs – plus whatever else happens along. You will be caring for them daily. It’s easy and takes very little time. One person can do the basics in 30 minutes. We do raise some of these animals as food.

Please read everything, then answer the questions below:

Are you hard-working? Fun and friendly and want to greet and socialize with all the international travelers?

Trade about 20-26 hours per week for free stay with a team that can feel like family!

We work hard and play harder!
Regularly, guests and staff are hanging out, eating together, playing guitar, or going:

Hiking, clubbing, camping, BBQ-ing, drinking games, exploring, road tripping to national parks, etc, etc.

Vegas is great for short road trips to L.A., San Francisco, San Diego, Phoenix, Tijuana, and lots of famous Parks:

Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Sequoia, Arches, Valley of Fire, Red Rock, etc

"Guys, it is safe and fun and I would probably have enjoyed it better coming alone than with a friend!" - One of our female staff insisted I tell this to solo traveling females.

(Update: we are currently looking for volunteers who will stay for at least 3 weeks between December and March 2019!)

We live somewhere that's more than a hostel -- it's a collective of adventurers and unique individuals. Once you google us, you'll see we're pretty popular :) We are Duncan and Zain, who started this tiny hostel out of our home back in 2014 because we loved the people we met while traveling and wanted to meet more of those people at home. Since then, we've hosted more than 3000 travelers from across the world.

We're looking for someone to be the party captain to organize social activities, bar crawls, and other fun tours. In addition, there will be about 18 hours of help needed per week of doing laundry, cleaning, and helping guests.

In exchange, you'll get to live in San Francisco for free. You'll get a bunk bed in the coolest district in SF (the Mission). And you'll have full access to our kitchen for making meals.

We have become friends with so many p... more inside

After 9 years in beautiful Haines, Alaska I have relocated to a raw mountain ranch at 4750 ft elevation, located in Crescent Lake Oregon. We have been here now for 2 years and it just keeps getting better, thanks to the fantastic helpers! I will also offer BandB for a nominal fee, and which includes hands on ranch experiences for those who are unable to volunteer. We enjoy our guests of all natures!

Our goal is to open the ranch up to guests and provide interactive ranch tours.

I am needing ongoing help with fencing and some building, animal care, clearing, artsy ideas, path building, housekeeping etc. House is small, but nice. Barn is located away from the house, with a loft.

We are a retired couple with a 6-acre vineyard in Napa, California. We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting Helpx'ers who have not only helped with a variety of tasks but have enriched our lives. We need folks to help both in the vineyard and our garden which includes a small fruit tree and olive orchard. The majority of the work is focused in the vineyard beginning mid January and continues until mid-July. Other tasks might include cleaning of living spaces, general maintenance of the property (weeding, rock picking, composting, etc.). In general, the work is not hard but it can involve a lot of walking along the rows of vines and requires stamina for repetitive work in a warm/hot climate and dusty environment in the summer. From August thru the end of the year, the work in the vineyard slows down and we accept HelpX requests as needed only. We are omnivores who eat plenty of vegetables. If you are vegan or gluten-free, you are welcome to prepare your own food. Everyone helps with... more inside

We are currently looking for very specific help from at least here by January 21st to February 11th. We will be going out of town and my mother will be here watching the farm. We want someone who is going to be comfortable with animals, especially the horses and help my mother with the feedings and daily chores in the morning and evening. The tasks involved will be all the basic feedings, cleaning stalls and sometimes depending on weather bringing the horses in from pasture. We are looking for someone that is reliable, honest and trustworthy. These are our pets that are loved dearly! You are welcome to stay longer than Feb 11th also if you like but this is the date we return so we need you for sure until then.

RIGHT NOW I`M LOOKING FOR SOMEBODY TO START HELPING ME 2018-2019! I`M ALSO PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME.
Vegan and vegetarian friendly!

Hi my name is Bruce.
I`m wondering if you would be interested in helping someone like myself. By the previous sentence I mean someone who is charming, wonderful, engaging, intelligent and shy. I broke my neck when I was 18 years old and have been in a wheelchair ever since. After breaking my neck I went back to school and received a couple of degrees. I`m looking for someone who is energetic, intelligent and ready to take on a challenge. It`s important to me that whomever I choose has good sense humor and can understand sarcasm. I`m also a liberal and I am concerned about politics along with many other things. If you`d like to know more about me and what assisting me entails I would be happy to provide you with that information :) by the way I live 28 miles East of San Francisco in a town called Walnut Creek. Historic inn transitioning to monthly rental studios, in small town on the Mendocino Coast, 3 hours north of San Francisco. We need help with maintenance and buiding projects. Day-to-day operations may include any of the following: cleaning, painting, gardening. Special projects may include construction, plumbing, electrical, and painting. Special consideration will be given to helpers who have construction skills. I am also designing tiny houses, and plan to start building this winter.

No TV, but we have WIFI. We have organic kitchen gardens as well as ornamental grounds.

No pets, drugs or smoking. Non-drinkers, or moderate drinkers welcome. Most important, NON-SMOKERS ONLY -we have guests who are very sensitive to smoke. It is not enough to smoke away from the premises, smoke clings to clothing and hair, and lingers in common areas even if smokers were just rushing through.

In exchange for 20 hrs/week (with at least 2 days off each week) we provide lodging and v... more inside
