My husband Tim and I moved out to our place in the desert in January 2008 along with our many plants. It was soon after we arrived that I got re-introduced to the miracle Moringa tree and began growing them. One thing led to another and our company was born. We have continued to grow our little farm to what it is today. We have an orchard with about 50 fruit and nut trees, an enclosed veggie garden area that is protected from wildlife, several growing structures (greenhouses in winter and shade structures in summer), and lots of projects to become more self sustainable, including solar energy production, etc.

We endeavor to provide a vast range of experiences for someone, and to offer a well balanced variety of activities that allows someone to learn as well as to contribute. As our business continues to grow, as well as the natural shift in focus / priorities that happens from season to season, our needs at various times also shift. Our most immediate need at the momen... more inside

We need helpers beginning in April going forward. Our normal stay is 2 weeks but we will try to work with your schedule.

We prefer to have "Helpers" who are willing to socialize with our family and learn what we do as well as teaching us what they do. We want this to be a 2-way street. We also prefer that you have some self-motivation.

Our main focus is the rescue of llamas and alpacas and we need help in the pastures with feeding, fencing, clearing tree branches, burning etc. We have projects going on at all times and can use someone who is willing to learn about our operation. Would also like help with projects around the property including electrical and minor carpentry. Our chickens are in their "palace" due to our Helpxer`s and we now have fresh eggs. We are expanding our chicken palace to move 30 new ones in.

Besides helping with the llamas and alpacas, we have property projects, and other odds and ends.

We have very limited internet (no Wi-Fi) but you can che... more inside

Hello! We have a lovely fixer-upper property in Benson (Southeastern Arizona) one mile north of the Amtrak train depot and Interstate 10 and 30 minutes from the Tucson International Airport. We are within half an hour drive to Kartchner Caverns, Patagonia Lake, Parker Canyon Lake, Colossal Caves, Bisbee and Tombstone. Tucson is a 40 minute trip to town.

Our property has incredible potential, and the vision is to create a quirky/artsy Airbnb pet-friendly compound as well as a retreat for artists, writers, musicians, yogis and world travelers. The property has a large pond with cottonwood and mesquite trees and a natural spring (that needs some love) and a heated salt water swimming pool and spa (that has an attached cantina). There are four buildings needing renovations and the vision is to create Taos/Santa Fe style architecture and finishes. We are also planning to have a large organic garden.

There are many projects needing to be done, including: straw bale construction, st... more inside

Who We Are:
I am a landscape designer, music hippie, and eco-friendly tree hugger. My 11-year-old granddaughter lives with me part-time and is a vivacious free spirit with bundles of wit and charm. We also have a close-knit community of friends, family, and neighbors who frequently pop in and out.

Where We Live:
We have a beautiful 15 acres in the North Texas country-side. While there is a very rural feeling to the property, we are only a 15 minute car ride from historical McKinney and less than an hour from the DFW airport. Our little farm is organic with herb/veggie gardens, chickens for eggs, and great hiking trails. We also have a beautiful fire pit, an above-ground swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen, a trampoline, a tree fort loft, and lots of space to roam and stretch out.

Our Petting Zoo:
We have lots of furry friends!
6 dogs, 4 chickens, 3 cats, 2 horses, and 1 pig.
Must love animals to stay here! :)

Our Venue:
In addition to being a small farm, we hold liv... more inside

Our 40 acre homestead is located in the high plains of New Mexico, at an altitude of >7500 feet above sea level. We started building from scratch six years ago, and currently raise pigs, chickens, and rabbits for meat, for our consumption and for market. We also have Jersey cow for milk, her calf and another beef calf. We are committed to raising our animals on an organic and non-gmo diet, and practice all levels of permaculture to improve our somewhat desolate landscape. Growing native fruit trees and bushes is a passion for us, alongside planning for a more conventional orchard. Housing provided for guests is a large geodesic dome, with a solar set up for power, no indoor plumbing, a woodstove for heat, and a camp kitchen for preparing food. We live quite rustically, fitting ourselves into the land rather than trying to change the land to fit our needs. Our farm is thirty miles from the two closest towns and our dirt roads are rough, so a vehicle with good ground clearance... more inside

About Our Farm

We are booked up through March 1st! The great weather will stay here until early May, so there is plenty of time to come before the heat returns, which is around May 15th! (You CAN come in Summer too! Because our elevation is 3200', it is a nicer climate than most of the southern states!)

We are a growing, learning center for those seeking to learn to live off grid, learn alternative (solar & wind) power, alternative construction, stone masonry, water conservation & rain water harvesting, small to moderate poultry flock management, debt free life, “New Homesteading”, scratch cookery and sustainability.

We are a bit different than other hosts, in that our goal in inviting you to our ranch is to teach sustainability, off-grid skills and what we call a “one planet lifestyle”. We are not looking for free help planting & harvesting our cash crops like so many hosts. The opportunity is here to learn EVERYTHING you need to know to live sustainably on or off grid, in... more inside
