Hello! We have a lovely fixer-upper property in Benson (Southeastern Arizona) one mile north of the Amtrak train depot and Interstate 10 and 30 minutes from the Tucson International Airport. We are within half an hour drive to Kartchner Caverns, Patagonia Lake, Parker Canyon Lake, Colossal Caves, Bisbee and Tombstone. Tucson is a 40 minute trip to town. The Greyhound bus stops here, but we just found out that an Uber or Lyft may be cheaper than bus tickets for more than one person.

PLEASE NOTE: We need at least 5 weeks notice before your arrival.

Our property has incredible potential, and the vision is to create a quirky/artsy Airbnb pet-friendly compound as well as a retreat for artists, writers, musicians, yogis and world travelers. The property has a large pond with cottonwood and mesquite trees and a natural spring (that needs some love) and a heated salt water swimming pool and spa (that has an attached cantina).

There are many projects needing to be done, and we ho... more inside

We invite you to our house, either to visit or to stay and help out. We are currently working on building a youth hostel and game room, and need help with construction and painting of walls and murals, also fixing bicycles for the neighborhood kids as well as maintaining the pool. We have had guests from all over the world stay with us. We have also hosted high school exchange students from Spain, Macau, Germany and China.
We are in a small town of about 400 people. Nearby is a city of 19,000 people with stores, restaurants and entertainment.
Come and see the heartland of America!

I am an older woman, living on five mostly undeveloped acres just outside Roswell, N.M. (yes, THAT Roswell) who needs help mostly outside, trying to make my property self-sustainable. I'm learning as I go, so trying new things is always fun.

I have just retired from my job and will be traveling the world for the next few years. However, the property still needs caring for and my caretaker, Gary, a HelpXer himself, will be overseeing it and taking over the hosting duties.

Thanks to some marvelous HelpXers in the past, the major (read: really hard) work is done, so now I need folks who can help plant, weed, water and harvest my gardens, as well as feed and care for my two llamas, two goats, duck and dozen or so chickens.

There's still some outdoor cleanup to be done and we both love folks who come up with creative new ideas for my property. (And, if you're into cooking or housekeeping, we won't turn that down either.)

Gary is looking for folks skilled in carpentry (own to... more inside

We are a Spiritual retreat center and a wedding venue located close to the beautiful town of Julian in Southern California. We are located about an hour drive away from San Diego, and we are a few miles away from Julian.

We are in the midst of gorgeous rural native trees and nature away from urban life here. We are not affiliated with any particular spiritual ideology or philosophy with a central authority, but we are rather a community of truth seekers learning and growing in the mirror of relationship and intelligent questioning of everything; and love, we believe, is the only light in this spiritual journey.

We have very Yummy, healthy and organic Vegan and Vegetarian food here shared with all community members. We would love to welcome new members who would like to have some peaceful time and help us in the ways that fit them best. There are no corporate type of strict living/working here, but rather a friendly and family like environment in which people figure out the ... more inside

My husband Tim and I moved out to our place in the desert in January 2008 along with our many plants. It was soon after we arrived that I got re-introduced to the miracle Moringa tree and began growing them. One thing led to another and our company was born. We have continued to grow our little farm to what it is today. We have an orchard with about 50 fruit and nut trees, an enclosed veggie garden area that is protected from wildlife, several growing structures (greenhouses in winter and shade structures in summer), and lots of projects to become more self sustainable, including solar energy production, etc.

We endeavor to provide a vast range of experiences for someone, and to offer a well balanced variety of activities that allows someone to learn as well as to contribute. As our business continues to grow, as well as the natural shift in focus / priorities that happens from season to season, our needs at various times also shift. Our most immediate need at the momen... more inside

Who we are:

I’m David, an Eco-community Builder. We’re transforming 45 acres of what was an active rock quarry just 10 years ago, into a healthy, regenerative, green space and training venue in the midst of the rapidly growing suburban landscape around us in north San Antonio.

Venue Description:

We purchased the property two years ago from good friends who had already started the mission of revitalizing the land. Today, 39 of the acres are in “preservation” status, which means that we are letting the micro ecosystems that have developed from what remained of the quarrying activities 10 years ago to develop on their own. We hope to always keep this acreage in that status for generations to enjoy. The remaining 6 acres is wooded, where we live and where we interface more productively with our environment with: two classroom buildings, an outdoor kitchen, a rainforest-style bath house, swimming pool, relaxation hammocks, Laundry House, 4 resident tiny homes, an undergr... more inside

If this project sounds like it might interest you - Please read more, and reach out to learn more! I have lots of projects year-round and can always use a helping hand.

I am located in a sunny southern New Mexico town called Cuchillo which is considered a ghost town, although there is about 35 permanent residents. I have several historic adobe properties which date to the mid-1800s. The main property was a stagecoach stop and housed the old saloon, general store, mercantile, and hotel. I have several Airbnbs that I rent out -as well an Artist In Residence program for creatives who seek solitude.

The property is located in a small valley backed up to an immense open desert and beautiful New Mexico skies. Within half an hour from the property you can find New Mexico's largest lake, the Rio Grande, mineral hot springs, amazing hikes, wildlife, national forest, climbing, biking, mines, crystals, canyons, beautiful weather and tons of inspiration. In the spring and summer, the land... more inside

Updated 3/14/20:

So far this spring has been GREAT, lots of sunshine and we got a good start on new fencing and adobe projects -- I'm looking for about 25 hours/week.

Currently have the truck camper and the large camper available, suitable for 2 people with either 2 twin beds or one queen bed.

Would like to have some FUN this spring! Work hard and play hard ... at the river and lake it's so beautiful in spring!

From mid May to mid September it is too hot for most people, with temps regularly over 100 F (40 C). I've had several long term visitors in summer who did well, but they were AZ natives or Europeans and into the off grid living with no cooling except USB fans, wet towels, etc.

Please contact me with any questions.

Christine
