I am an older woman, living on five mostly undeveloped acres just outside Roswell, N.M. (yes, THAT Roswell) who needs help mostly outside, trying to make my property self-sustainable. I'm learning as I go, so trying new things is always fun.

I have just retired from my job and will be traveling the world for the next few years. However, the property still needs caring for and my caretaker, Gary, a HelpXer himself, will be overseeing it and taking over the hosting duties.

Thanks to some marvelous HelpXers in the past, the major (read: really hard) work is done, so now I need folks who can help plant, weed, water and harvest my gardens, as well as feed and care for my two llamas, two goats, duck and dozen or so chickens.

There's still some outdoor cleanup to be done and we both love folks who come up with creative new ideas for my property. (And, if you're into cooking or housekeeping, we won't turn that down either.)

Gary is looking for folks skilled in carpentry (own to... more inside

If this project sounds like it might interest you - Please reach out to learn more! I have lots of projects for the fall/winter.

Hello! I am located in a warm sunny southern New Mexico ghost town called Cuchillo and I have several historic adobe properties which date to the mid-1800s. The main property was a stagecoach stop and housed the old saloon, general store, mercantile, and hotel. The old hotel is currently my private residence and available on Airbnb as a rental.

The property is located in a small valley backed up to an immense open desert and beautiful New Mexico skies. Within half an hour from the property you can find New Mexico's largest lake, the Rio Grande, Hot Springs, amazing hikes, wildlife, national Forest, climbing, biking, mines, crystals, canyons, beautiful weather and tons of inspiration.

I have several old homes and motorhomes that I can host in, and property for tents. I lean towards making this a 'hostel' atmosphere of sorts for travelers, arti... more inside

10/14/19 update:

I'd love to get back to working on the adobe living room before it gets too cold to make bricks -- I'm looking for about 25 hours/week.

And of course have a gazillion projects, would like to have some FUN this fall!

Please contact me with any questions.

Christine

Helpers who stay for a while and do a good job will likely be able to earn some $$$ weeding, cleaning, construction, cooking, etc.

*** I expect my helpers to care about the environment and sustainability and I provide only GMO FREE and mostly organic food.

*** I'm extremely interested in food as medicine, making salves again, etc. I quit sugar last summer and I am mostly vegetarian (NOT strict Keto, but similar), but I eat high quality organic meat / fish once a week or so.

*** BIG plus: You are able to research online and take notes. This is NOT a factory farm or conventional construction and research is some of our most time consuming and importan... more inside

My name is Trisha. My home is an adobe house built by my great-grandfather in 1917 in Presidio Texas on the US/Mexico border. He came here via El Paso from the family ranch near Chihuahua to get away from Pancho Villa!

I have a separate house, a wooden structure, with 500 square feet of living space downstairs and 500 sq ft upstairs. There are two double beds and a twin bed, a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Also, cable tv for news junkies! the toilet is a compost version and the shower is outdoors next to the "pescina," (the pool). There are two bicycles, but everything in town is within walking distance.

I have a large, gentle dog and two cats. I am active with animal rescue in the three county area where I live and have just finished construction of an enclosed area so that I can foster dogs.

My place is 2 acres of land on the edge of town overlooking a very large farm. I am working to clear the property and begin organic gardening. This area was once a major a... more inside

About Blue Mountain Trail Vineyard:
Sustainably farmed wine grape vineyard in the Davis Mountains of west Texas, about 25 miles north of Marfa and 30 miles from the Amtrak station in Alpine. We have beds for five or six people in a communal sleeping space in the upstairs area of an insulated metal building, with kitchen, bathroom and living space downstairs. At 5400ft (1650M) elevation, our winters are cold but the summers are mostly mild, with warm days and cool nights. The temperatures here rarely exceed 92F (33C).
While I am looking for help most of the year, spring and fall are the busiest times, and sometimes we have a pretty good crowd here for pruning, planting and harvesting. If you're interested in learning about viticulture and wine making, this is your place. I'm still learning about those things too.

I'm also looking for help with some alternative building projects, especially putting up a straw bale barrel room

Hi!! Looking for someone (female) to help me starting in December, and lasting 2-4+ weeks (?). I'm getting ready to downsize, and need help organizing things to either sell or donate. It would be great if you are willing to occasionally cook. Help with computer work would be great too. If my main apartment is not rented as an AirBnB, you'll have your own room there. If the AirBnB gets rented, you'll be sleeping in the loft above my room in my personal apartment (this is a big building!) where there is also a kitchen and bath.
I am an artist working in metal, fiber and mixed media. My main gig is making custom light fixtures
I love meeting new folks and making friends. You will love my cool place as it is colorful and art-filled. I expect you to help me for 3-5 or so hours a day, @ 5 days a week... but it will be a loose schedule. Also, there are all kinds of art materials here.. and you are free to use them during off time. Thanks for checking this out!
