Homestay in the Southern Indiana Forest

UPDATE!!

A year ago I was looking at a possible MS diagnosis and things were kinda bleak. The good news / bad news is that they did not confirm or rule out MS. But they did find arthritis, degenerative spinal disease, bulging disks and pinched nerves, etc., etc., etc.

Iím hoping to fill the calendar for the entire year so if you canít visit now, let me know when you can. Weíve hosted 20-some travelers over the last 6 years and would love to make friends with you too.

Please read ALL of this for more details. I keep trying to make it shorter but canít manage it. lol

***

We have room and need for different types of helpers. There is a bit of overlap in the kinds of projects one guest might work on so please read all of the description.

- A committed couple or friends traveling together, to share a room and split the work.

- A personal assistant who can stay for a longer tern.

- Solo travelers who can stop by for... more inside

We are on a 65 acre farm in North Pope County, Illinois and are virtually surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest. Having been on this farm for five years, we are still developing infrastructure and are continuing to plant in the orchard and various berries as well as establishing and expanding garden and crop areas.

We are a GMO, herbicide and pesticide free farm in all of our outdoor areas. As we are far away from "modern agricultural" property, we feel that we should have no problems with cross pollination of our crops with GMO's or damage/exposure from/to ag chemicals.

There are many projects currently in process or in the planning stages. This summer/fall we hope to get new water and electric lines ran to all the barns and the greenhouse as well as get a fiber studio framed in and get the finishing touches on the greenhouses.

Tasks on the farm are endless, so there are always things to do year round. Clearing brush, cutting wood, building fence, baling hay, sawin... more inside

We are currently considering potential prospective inquiries from late November 2020- March 2021.

Our place is set in a beautiful wooded valley in southern Indiana, surrounded by the Hoosier National forest; so our place is a magical place, with lots of trees, birds, wildlife and natural beauty. We cherish nature here and give gratitude every day to Mother Earth. It is remote and isolated, with the nearest neighbor about a mile away. The closest small town with a convenience/gas store is 7 miles. We will consider HelpXers only after extended conversation and full understanding of the isolated location of our property. No pets allowed.
To enter the property, a ford across a small stream, the Patoka River, must be crossed, or, if the water is up, a footbridge is available. It is extremely quiet, tranquil and peaceful here. We are located 48 miles west of Louisville, KY. WI-Fi is available and the feed is via unlimited optic fiber.
We are a wife and husband who grow vegetable... more inside

This not only due to the fact n one here wants the virus BUT this facility has to keep operating with animals to feed and care for. They depend on us to keep them cared for and healthy. We will feed you well, we are like a family and care for each other so care for us and if there is even a remote chance of you bringing it here don't apply*****

Hi there! If you want to experience many different things, this may be the place for you! I have a small organic farm with over 500 varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, as well as many other native plant species. I also have a Natural Foods Store and deli (We have lots of posts and photos on FB and IG). The store is located in a town in Iowa with a population of 10,000 in the winter and 100,000+ in the summer, because of all the seasonal residents and people who come to vacation at the lakes. The farm is located in a town in Minnesota, 33 miles from the store, with a population of about 40! It would be best if you have your own vehicle to get around with. I have a Camper/RV pad with hookups in the front yard, and a guest cabin in the back yard.

Due to bad experiences with recent and other past help exchangers, I've decided that unless you have some sort of skills or experience that really fits in well with what I do here, then I'm probably not going to accep... more inside

Howdy, we are Joshua and Lucas and we are Topaz Homestead located in the beautiful and rural Cabool area in Missouri.

Our homestead is quite humble ... we mainly grow all sorts of delicious and flavorful salad greens, lettuces and other veggies that we will be pre-packaging into gourmet salads to sell at local farmers markets, co-ops and to subscribing customers.

There's always projects to work on !
Right now we need someone who can help with mulching, some minor fence repairs, harvesting, cultivating, planting and general clean up !

There's goats, chickens and a slew of cats and dogs that are all outdoor animals so no need to worry about allergies as none of them ever go into the house.
The lodging we can provide at this time is a shared dormitory style room with a bunk bed, though if we have a female wwoof'er we can arrange to give you shared space with another female.

Joshua and Lucas are on-call 24/7 for their plumbing and electrical business, so we would love ... more inside

We moved from New Zealand to the USA in 2019. We bought a homestead in the heart of the Ozarks in a small safe town of Alton Missouri. I injured myself and would like to have a very accomplished rider / trainer type come and ride my horse, who was a western horse, but I teaching it to ride English. There is riding, land to clear, light gardening, and odd jobs. WE have a very nice home, and your bed would be in a really nice furnished lower floor with your own bathroom, and living room. We have DVDs, DishTV, a pool room, very private, deer, turkey to look at. We also have two ponds for fishing out of. This is a safe small friendly town. We have a large Newfoundland dog and a cat. The cat cannot go outside. Must have a vehicle. References a must. Mammouth springs is nearby, also West Plains is the biggest town nearby about 45 minutes away.

We started our Vineyard back in 2004,it is located in a Beautiful,Quiet,Valley along the bluffs of the Mississippi River. We have five children that have now grown and moved out on there own. I just retired from a career of Process Instrument Work at the local power plant. I could use some help with the Vineyard and Gardens, but also enjoy fishing and boating on the river in the evenings and of course days off. We would be willing to supply your own bedroom, great meals and WiFi. We also have two Female Collies that love to get brushed and played with. The ideal person would have to be able to work on there own or in a small group, after some training of course to get you up to your comfort level, so as you basically understand what the goals might be for the time of year and tasks at hand, a five hour day,if the weather permits, is what we usually work . There might be a few longer days, but I`m sure that having time off to check out the area won`t be any problem. If you would car... more inside
