Hi everyone,
Jenny and Alex here! We moved to Detroit in 2013 after living in Asia for 5 years. Alex is originally from California and Jenny is from Hong Kong. We met in Germany through an internship and later fell in love in a hostel in Spain while road-tripping through wine country. Alex has a background in tech start-ups in NYC and California while Jenny worked in marketing for L`Oreal in Hong Kong and Germany.
We LOVE to travel and have lived and adventured throughout Europe and Asia extensively. In 2013 we decided to move back to the US and thought we would end up in California but when we heard they were tearing houses down in Detroit we decided to check it out. As any open-minded traveler knows, a good place can often be distorted by the media so we decided to do a road trip to see the city for ourselves. After driving into Detroit we fell in love with the city! People here have a lot of pride and heart. There is a spirit of resilience and you can feel the energy as the ci... more inside

We are particularly interested in hosting HELPXERS for the months of August through November 2019, so view our site and maybe we can work with each other. We invite you to visit our farm, share in our life and experience our lovely community and the Midwest hospitality. We are located in the southern part of the state and share culture with Louisville, KY. Days here are lived to the fullest, whether working, creating or relaxing; whether in the field, the garden, the river, the pond, the kitchen or the table; whether privately on the land we are so grateful to be able to steward or with the incredibly wholesome community here. Our Farm is Smoke, alcohol and drug free. We enjoy and protect the wild life, sorry we do not promote domestic animals on the property. We are gentle and respectful people and expect the same from our guest. As customary, the person joining us, is expected to work five hours a day, five days a week in exchange for room and board; Saturday and Sunday are consid... more inside

We are on a 65 acre farm in North Pope County, Illinois and are virtually surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest. Having been on this farm for five years, we are still developing infrastructure and are continuing to plant in the orchard and various berries as well as establishing and expanding garden and crop areas.

We are a GMO, herbicide and pesticide free farm in all of our outdoor areas. As we are far away from "modern agricultural" property, we feel that we should have no problems with cross pollination of our crops with GMO's or damage/exposure from/to ag chemicals.

There are many projects currently in process or in the planning stages. This summer/fall we hope to get new water and electric lines ran to all the barns and the greenhouse as well as get a fiber studio framed in and get the finishing touches on the greenhouses.

Tasks on the farm are endless, so there are always things to do year round. Clearing brush, cutting wood, building fence, baling hay, sawin... more inside

The mission of our farm is to teach people how to be healthy through good nutrition, exercise, relationships, and a healthy lifestyle. We also provide healthy food for our customers and show them how to prepare it. We have a large garden and small CSA, we make maple syrup, we grow corn, soybeans, wheat, spelt and hay and we raise chickens for eggs, and grass-fed beef. We mill the wheat into flour and corn into cornmeal. We have a sawmill and make our own lumber. We have lots of events including maple sugaring open house, mushroom hunts, and fall festivals. We do other special events including hayrides, retreats, and weddings. We have finished our cabin at the lake and it is open for visitors and events. We love to have volunteers and some resist leaving because of the atmosphere. Send us an email. Hope to hear from you. My photos are mostly with former helpxers, I appear with the bull and pitchfork.

By the way, we have two horses that do not get enough work. Would you like to wor... more inside

Our 150 year old farmhouse needs renovations. Work will include some general plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, possibly starting a vegetable garden, fixing up an old barn, introducing livestock, etc.

We're a married couple in our early 30's with no kids (unless you count our two cats). I'm a pastry chef who bakes from home and my husband is a high school science teacher and a pilot. Our home is on a quiet and peaceful country road with no close neighbors. We plan to start a garden in the spring so you'll have access to organic vegetables, as well as free range chicken and duck eggs. There are blueberry and raspberry bushes growing, as well as apple, pear, peach and cherry trees. You will have a private bathroom and a private bedroom that overlooks the river, which is great for catching small mouth bass and also attracts deer, bald eagles and other wildlife.

10 minutes west is Bowling Green, a college town with excellent bars, restaurants, coffee shops and plenty of fun... more inside

Homestay in Southern Indiana seeks friendly and compassionate travelers

UPDATE!

We had big plans for this piece of property but life is changing in profound ways and I am unsure what the future holds. The interests and activities in my profile are still true but Iím becoming more of a spectator than a participant.

I am being evaluated for MS. I canít tolerate the heat or the sun nor can I walk very far. Some days I canít walk at all. The dream of opening an antique shop is gone and all this inventory needs to go to. Iím not going to worry about tomatoes or mushrooms or willow tree retaining wallsÖ I just canít. It looks like time to move back to town, to a house with no stairs.

***

Needs vary from landscaping / gardening / housework / deep cleaning / organization / photography / social media stuff.

We are considering a live willow retaining wall to prevent erosion at the shoreline. If you have knowledge of or experience with this kind of natural solution, PLEAS... more inside

We started our Vineyard back in 2004,it is located in a Beautiful,Quiet,Valley along the bluffs of the Mississippi River. We have five children that have now grown and moved out on there own. I just retired from a career of Process Instrument Work at the local power plant. I could use some help with the Vineyard and Gardens, but also enjoy fishing and boating on the river in the evenings and of course days off. We would be willing to supply your own bedroom, great meals and WiFi. We also have two Female Collies that love to get brushed and played with. The ideal person would have to be able to work on there own or in a small group, after some training of course to get you up to your comfort level, so as you basically understand what the goals might be for the time of year and tasks at hand, a five hour day,if the weather permits, is what we usually work . There might be a few longer days, but I`m sure that having time off to check out the area won`t be any problem. If you would car... more inside

We are looking for a helper to help us landscape our yard for 4 hours per day. Must be able to bend over and dig holes to plant flowers, etc. and operate a lawn mower. Must be able to cut down small brush and place it in dumpster. Need one person starting in June for 5-7 days. We are a non smoking home and no smoking or drug use will be tolerated. If found to be smoking or using drugs your stay will be terminated immediately. If it rains, I will put you to work inside the house, cleaning, etc. If we finish yard work at my home I will have you cut my mom's grass.

In exchange we will provide 2 meals per day, breakfast and lunch or dinner. You might have to cook some of your own meals, however, but I will provide the food.

Private space in lower level of our home with queen bed and private bath. 40 acre park is just two blocks away. Free wi-fi and laundry facilities. We are also AirBnb hosts, so if we get a booking for the space we would ask that you move upstairs to the spar... more inside
