This organic orchard and turmeric farm is in Florida. We are located in the northern part of Florida 30 minutes north of Gainesville Florida. We grow peaches, Meyer Lemons, persimmons, and turmeric as well as small amounts of other fruits. From May to September the work consists of weeding, feeding, and pruning. The peach harvest is in May, but it is a Upick so there is not a lot of peach harvesting that needs to be done. Turmeric harvesting happens in late November and December and there is plenty to be done then. January is Meyer lemon harvesting and dormant pruning of stone fruit. February begins the next feeding cycle.

The farm is close to the springs of north Florida; Blue Springs, Genie Springs, Poe Springs, the Itchetucknee spring fed river, and the Santa Fe and Suwanee Rivers. Lots of kayaking and canoeing rentals and transport nearby.

We can provide air-conditioned and heated accommodations for up to 3 people at a time in exchange for help on the farm. There is... more inside

We are a small homestead backing on the Ozark National Forest, near the Buffalo National River(45 minutes from the homestead).we are way off the beaten path, or seems like....actually four miles of dirt road. But the last half mile is rough.Where we live is primitive, but incredibly beautiful.

We are looking for help with daily chores and several projects this year. We welcome visits from 2 weeks to several months if everyone gets along well. (We do welcome traveling volunteers as well- expecting you to pick up chores while you are here.)

Our favorite volunteers are those who have a willingness to look around and take some initiative once they know what is needed. One of the things we try to teach is flexibility. Life happens and part of being successful at homesteading is developing that flexible attitude.

We are slowing down a little, so you might be asked to work on a task without supervision once you have a chance to learn what is expected after instruction.

We plan... more inside

The world comes together at Prince Bay Farm!!!

Our family has been in the Carolina low-country since the 1670s, and here on this property since 1827. The farm and family have seen many changes throughout the centuries, and is looking to the future!

An experimental and educational farm, we are working to bring a high level of self-sufficiency/sustainability here and to share our knowledge with our visitors.

This is the farm`s 8th year hosting visitors. Forty-three countries represented and over 300 guests staying, all have helped make the farm a better place. They have laughed, learned, sweated, helped grow and have eaten some great food. We hope all that spend time here will take something positive away with them. Looking forward to another year of great helpers and guests!

***Now accepting volunteers for 2018, from August onward, **two week minimum stay**...Contact us for a questionnaire, include your email address. Spaces are filling fast...all months after July are ... more inside

My name is Alexandra and I've been a helper twice (Thailand and Italy). I moved to Florida three years ago to help my elderly mother, who has sadly since passed away. She left me her small home and it requires a lot of updating.

I need helpers as soon as possible to help paint a couple bedrooms, replace ceiling fans, do some minor carpentry work, etc. This could be for a week or maybe more if we're getting on well and we both agree to extending (so far my helpers have stayed 2 weeks or more).

I am a certified English language instructor (BA English/CELTA) so if you need practice (or tutoring) with English, I'm more than happy to help with this through daily conversation and/or more formal lessons.

I offer a private air-conditioned bedroom with semi-private bath (private if there isn't another helper), unlimited wifi, free laundry and 3 home-cooked meals a day. I also have a bicycle you can use.

I'm not too far from the beautiful beaches and there is a bus stop j... more inside

This is a school for sustainable living, a working farm, and homestead. It is located in the Nantahala Mountains on the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 10 miles south of the town of Franklin, North Carolina (120 miles N.E. of Atlanta, GA and 70 miles west of Asheville, NC). The center's 32 acres lie in the heart of a small valley with a stream fed by numerous springs and surrounded by national forest. The stream provides water for an off-grid hydro-electric system. The area is home to wild turkey, deer, bear, and has one of the largest diversities of plants anywhere in the world. Huge chestnut stumps, remains of 1800 log cabins, mill raceways, spring houses, century-old farming roads, and old still sites, are reminders of a people and a way of life-based on an intimate knowledge of the environment and those skills needed to survive.

My current plan is to start an Intentional Community. I will also host volunteers who would like to experience off-the-grid living, organ... more inside

My husband and I have a small farm, about 60 miles north of Nashville that has a lot of growing to do. We raise sheep and have two donkeys and no children. We hope for cultural exchanges along with 4 to 5 hours of help 5 days out of the week, not including meal prep and clean-up. Cold frame needs to be replanted with this years seedlings. I also want to plan and implement to make another water cistern to help with the ever growing water needs. It has been so dry this year in Kentucky. The "to do" list continues to grow But re-establishing our third barn is a priority. It's large, and is useful but needs help. We are working on a small greenhouse, and have recently upgraded our wood working tools to top of the line if anyone has the passion and or skill to use them. Painting and carpenters skills are always helpful. We are hoping for a website soon, and if you have artistic or talent in the sewing area, we have fun things there to accomplish also. We are in a rural area with no ... more inside

We are a retired couple looking for help with projectis around the property. Some light construction might be involved,so carpentry skills would be helpful. We live on the banks of a world famous trout stream (White River) in the north central Ozarks in Arkansas. We have a neat cabin next door to our house that would be available. Work would involve working alongside Bill doing improvement projects around the property( fence building, lean to shed construction, limb and brush removal and burning as well as other outside jobs). We plan on working an average of 20 or so hours per week depending on the weather. We will provide lodging in the cabin and a couple of meals a day in exchange for your help. We have 2 large dogs and 4 cats, so loving animals would be helpful and if we had to be gone for a short time, you might be asked to care for them. We have bicycles, canoes and kayaks available as this area is ripe with outdoor opportunities. Looking for an exchange of about a we... more inside
