Hello! My name is Susana. I am a 56 year old Argentinian-American living in a big house in Loxahatchee, Florida.

I need help with maintaining, organizing, and improving the house: I am in need of repairing doors, painting, fixing the chicken coop, finish building a kitchen, and a lot of unfinished projects around the property.

I am hoping to find some handyman or woman or a couple, willing to trade a few hours of labor a day in exchange for a private room and meals. Smoking is allowed outside. Please be advised that I have several dogs, a cats, chickens and a pet pig; so please don't have alergies! . My garden is beautiful and also needs TLC.
I live 30 to 35 minutes from the beach and I am willing to provide rides before or after work and to go to a nice place my day off. There are many things to do around West Palm. Polo season is now on! . Wellington is just 15 min from home. Lots of parks and recreational activities in this area. I f you never being in Florida you wil... more inside

First, Coweeta Heritage Center is a healing place and is an alcohol, drug and tobacco-free environment. Please don't apply if you can't honor our policies. Coweeta is a school for sustainable living, a working farm, and homestead. It is located in the Nantahala Mountains on the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 10 miles south of the town of Franklin, North Carolina (120 miles N.E. of Atlanta, GA and 70 miles west of Asheville, NC). The center's 32 acres lie in the heart of a small valley with a stream fed by numerous springs and surrounded by national forest. The stream provides water for an off-grid hydro-electric system. The area is home to wild turkey, deer, bear, and has one of the largest diversities of plants anywhere in the world. Huge chestnut stumps, remains of 1800 log cabins, mill raceways, spring houses, century-old farming roads, and old still sites, are reminders of a people and a way of life-based on an intimate knowledge of the environment and those skills... more inside

I love plants. I love teaching and talking about plants with visitors. This is a 10 acre permaculture farm, greenhouse, 1/3 acre pond, and around 250 fruit trees, i.e. heaven on earth. I am a keen observer of nature, and have great love and respect for all. Travelers are a vibrant part of living on the "Patch" as we call it.

We like helpers to stay for 1-3 weeks. Helpers stay in a school bus converted into a guest house with a queen bed and a 360 view of lush gardens. We share a bathroom and kitchen in our trailer, but there is an out door shower and electric kettle in the bus. We typically have a single person or a couple stay at a time, but in April are open to one or two more guests to stay on a tent platform. We make a point to feed our workers well and can reasonably accommodate dietary needs. April is when our mulberries and blueberries come on, and there will basically be an endless berry buffet by the end of April.

The work I need the most help with is maintenance/we... more inside

The world comes together at Prince Bay Farm!!!

Our family has been in the Carolina low-country since the 1670s, and here on this property since 1827. The farm and family have seen many changes throughout the centuries, and is looking to the future!

An experimental and educational farm/homestead, we are working to bring a high level of self-sufficiency/sustainability here and to share our knowledge with our visitors.

This is the farm`s 9th year hosting visitors. Forty-three countries represented and over 350 guests staying, all have helped make the farm a better place. They have laughed, learned, sweated, helped grow and have eaten some great food. We hope all that spend time here will take something positive away with them. Looking forward to another year of great helpers and guests!

We have now hosted HelpXers for several years and love meeting folks from all over the world! We are a small farm and are considered an agri-tourism destination as we have a "Healing Spring" on the property. Discovered in 1883 the water from the spring has many curative powers. The spring is available for free to anyone who wants to come and get the water.

We are near many great hiking destinations, Mt. Rogers, Grayson Highlands State Park, Stone Mountain, Doughton Park and the many trails off of the Blue Ridge Parkway that crosses through our part of the state of North Carolina. We are just off of the New River with fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. Additionally, the Virginia Creeper Trail, Rocky Knob Park and the Railroad Grade trail offer great biking opportunities. We are 10 minutes from the town of West Jefferson with a great Farmers Market and cute town with artisan shops. We are just a short driving distance several larger cities.

We prefer folks who are looking for a l... more inside

We farm 25 lovely acres located 15 minutes from a college town and plenty of stunning hiking, backpacking and caving opportunities. We have been on this land for 5 years and are working hard to love the land back to health and beauty. We are establishing fruit, food forests, orchards, rotation grazing systems, greenhouse, silvopasture, water retention systems, pasture renovation, gardens etc.

We raise dairy and beef cows, sheep, chickens, bees and a pig or two. We have a small shop on the farm where we sell our own products as well as the artisan products of other farmers. we are increasing our yarn production this year and hope to set up a bed and breakfast on the farm.

We raise and sell our raw milk and make yogurt, fresh cheese, and buttermilk. We sell beef, lamb, wool, pork, eggs and pastured poultry. Chickens and pigs are the only animals to receive non GMO grain.

We have a new 96x28 ft high tunnel and hope to include produce to the farm lineup and have begun work to... more inside

Located in the foothills of the Appalacian Mountains. Mostly wooded 40 acres with a beautiful stream and pond for swimming. Some land has been cleared for agriculture but this is more of a homesteading experience than strictly agricultural. In addition to gardening this is an opportunity to learn how to drive a tractor, harvest mushrooms, bake bread, use a chainsaw, paint a mural, build a house, help install a microhydro electrical system, cooking, canning and freezing, surveying, etc. etc. Your artistic contributions can also go toward covering room and board.

Facilities for visitors vary from; a room in a shared house, rustic living in a 19th century one room schoolhouse, an "A" frame tiny house or camping. Short term visitors are welcome with camping available and possible work for meals. Long term folks are asked to work 25 hours/week for room and meals. Total numbers of visitors at any one time will be in the 1 to 4 range. "Quickie" trial visits can be arranged.

Would you like an adventure this year? I have put my 51 foot sail boat on the market in Florida, but I don't think it will sell that quickly. I will be putting the boat back in the water about the end of February. I then want to cruise the Florida coast to keep close to the potential market. Probably sail slowly down to Key West. I have been teaching sailing for the last 15 years, so I can take a complete novice and turn him into a sailor in a matter of weeks.
