Hi there! I am looking for help on my 11 acre artist retreat in the North Florida woods. Somewhere Glassworks is a full service, multi-faceted glass studio with glass furnace work, fusing, flame working, cold working, metal working and mosaics.

My work is available at fine art festivals, in galleries, and through both private and wholesale commissions around the country.

Gainesville is a beautiful, liberal college town surrounded by freshwater springs and wildlife. I'm happy to show you around as much as time allows. A car is helpful here in the countryside, but not required.

I'd love to find an experienced glassblower who would like to share the shop and work/ trade for lodging and blow time. I'm also be open to the right person who doesn't blow glass, but has a love for the land, or travelers who would like to stay for a week or two in exchange for odd jobs and good stories. I always have projects afoot and things that need maintaining. There's enough going on that you c... more inside

This is a school for sustainable living, a working farm, and homestead. It is located in the Nantahala Mountains on the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 10 miles south of the town of Franklin, North Carolina (120 miles N.E. of Atlanta, GA and 70 miles west of Asheville, NC). The center's 32 acres lie in the heart of a small valley with a stream fed by numerous springs and surrounded by national forest. The stream provides water for an off-grid hydro-electric system. The area is home to wild turkey, deer, bear, and has one of the largest diversities of plants anywhere in the world. Huge chestnut stumps, remains of 1800 log cabins, mill raceways, spring houses, century-old farming roads, and old still sites, are reminders of a people and a way of life-based on an intimate knowledge of the environment and those skills needed to survive.

My current plan is to start an Intentional Community. I will also host volunteers who would like to experience off-the-grid living, organ... more inside

I am Soell and my love is Ann. Ann is a Biology Major and I, Soell, am a Website Designer and study Psychology, as a couple we excel well beyond these subjects. We are a small, two children, family working towards sustainability. We raise and train puppies/dogs. We have three horses and a pony, raise chickens, have a thriving herb garden, fruit trees and bees.

There is always something to enjoy, including our own bamboo forest, the variety of floral and birds, all part of the different types of natural ecosystems we have to experience. There is a lot of opportunity to learn, work and even allow creative projects to blossom.

Projects tend to run on average 4 to 5 hours. We have fruit trees that we will need help tending to, herb gardens for seasonings and teas, plenty of room for gardening, building/Carpentry, possibly concrete work and much more to work with. Your help will be beneficial in the areas of building and maintenance, help tending to any crops. Short term stays a... more inside

**UPDATE: We have a helper staying here with us until mid-December 2018. So we are available to host from December 15th on. After the holiday season, our focus will turn back toward home and yard improvements, so if you are interested in visiting this uarea in 2019, feel free to contact us. The winter is beautiful here too as the shape of these ancient mountains are more defined and long range “winter” views come into play after the trees drop their leaves. In my opinion, hiking on sunny winter days is a joy!

In exchange for about 10-15 hrs a week helping with projects, you will enjoy a private bedroom (new full-sized bed), shared bath, and house/kitchen/laundry privileges. Accommodations are modest and comfortable. We do not provide meals but our kitchen is open for use.

This workstay in Black Mountain/Asheville is ideal for 1 person or a couple seeking to enjoy the beautiful mountains of western NC while not having to “rough it” too much.

Black Mountain is a quaint town ... more inside

The world comes together at Prince Bay Farm!!!

Our family has been in the Carolina low-country since the 1670s, and here on this property since 1827. The farm and family have seen many changes throughout the centuries, and is looking to the future!

An experimental and educational farm/homestead, we are working to bring a high level of self-sufficiency/sustainability here and to share our knowledge with our visitors.

This is the farm`s 9th year hosting visitors. Forty-three countries represented and over 350 guests staying, all have helped make the farm a better place. They have laughed, learned, sweated, helped grow and have eaten some great food. We hope all that spend time here will take something positive away with them. Looking forward to another year of great helpers and guests!
