We are a small, family-run hostel and we want our guest to feel at home. New Orleans is known for it's easy-going atmosphere and we try to incorporate that into our quirky, artistic, science-fiction-inspired hostel.

We treat volunteers as part of our family. We try to be considerate of everyone and be as flexible as we can with scheduling around their needs.

After a 2 year hiatus, we are back! with two different opportunities.

1) Looking for immediate Fall 2019 help. Work will include planting prep, transplanting, weeding, mulching, firewood splitting, hauling and stacking, fencing,

2) House sitting from Dec 31 - March 31. Care for the animals and make sure the house doesn't burn down (seriously, we heat with wood.) 3 professional references and background check required for this one.

Small homestead farm in the Appalachian Mountains striving for a "greener" existence here by growing our own organic vegetables, eggs and chicken. We are developing orchards, berry patches and pasture land. There are 3 children, 2 dogs, a cat, a bunch of chickens, lots of deer and wild turkey, a fox and occasionally a bear. We provide a large room w private bath. Other "ammenities" include a small swimming pool, trampoline, bikes, and now a zip line!

Our family has been in the Carolina low-country since the 1670s, and here on this property since 1827. The farm and family have seen many changes throughout the centuries, and is looking to the future!

An experimental and educational farm/homestead, we are working to bring a high level of self-sufficiency/sustainability here and to share our knowledge with our visitors.

This is the farm's 9th year hosting visitors. Forty-six countries represented and over 375 guests staying, all have helped make the farm a better place. They have laughed, learned, sweated, plus they have help grow and have eaten some great food. We hope all that spend time here will take something positive away with them. Looking forward to another year of great helpers and guests!

A new venture in Fayetteville, Arkansas! After a successful experience in Turlock, California on my organic farm, with a CSA, farmer's market booth, egg subscriptions, and heirloom tomato sales to restaurants, I have moved to Arkansas and am starting again. From the beginning I loved what I did, miss doing it, and now I want to create the same place.

The property is on the edge of the Ozarks, 6 miles south of Fayetteville. Fayetteville is the home of the University of Arkansas and has a fantastic farmers's market on the town square, a great student population, an amazing bike culture with a 35 miles of developed bike trail up to Bentonville. Arkansas is known as "The Natural State" and has beautiful rivers for kayaking, lakes for swimming, trails for hiking and riding, caves for exploring.

I am looking for a person or persons, like-minded, to stay occasionally on the property when I leave the property and when I am here I want them to assist me in various chores and proj... more inside

It's fallin Louisiana---The very best time to visit and enjoy outdoor activities.

Our family operates four Airbnb guesthouses in Lafayette, Louisiana, We opened in January 2015 and have been wonderfully busy hosting guests from all over the world. Our first Guesthouse was The Treehouse Guesthouse and you can see it on our Youtube video: Treehouse Guesthouse Lafayette Louisiana. Since 2015 we have developed three more Airbnb homes. We have hosted more than 20 HelpX helpers who participated in building and improving our shared homes and participating in community events. We love the creative input and the "joie de vivre" that HelpX folks have brought to our projects.

Since we have Guesthouses, there are always tasks related to laundry, cleaning and maintenance. We also have construction projects where we teach building skills. Our projects are supervised by staff with lots of construction experience and tools, so you have the opportunity to learn new skills and u... more inside

You will live in a house on a large lot on a quiet dead end street with access to public transportation to downtown Mobile AL. It is convenient to a public library, restaurants, river, bay, etc. Mobile is the secret of the south and I can introduce you when I am free. There are things to see and do but the best attraction is it's friendly people, parks and wildlife.

Some of the help I need includes assistance with landscaping & repair work inside a house and garage, roof repair and other odds and ends. I would also love to practice Spanish, Tagalog, Japanese or Urdu with a native speaker.

You will have a private place to sleep w/WiFi and shared or private bathroom will be provided. I am happy to share my food with you. I have a wide range of experience and knowledge such as experience and certification in teaching English in various countries, traveling, Flight Instructor Helicopter, class A truck driver, mechanics & engineering, etc. I am happy to share my knowledge and exp... more inside

NOT CURRENTLY HOSTING

Hi there,

I am looking to host one or two people to help me with a few home/yard improvement projects as well as show off all the beauty and outdoor adventure options Western North Carolina has to offer. I am able to host a solo traveler, a pair of friends, a couple, or two solo helpers- strangers at first and hopefully travel friends after meeting:)

I would prefer to host helpers from other countries for more of a cultural exchange, but if my post sounds like a great fit for your travel intentions, don't hesitate to contact me either way!

Currently I am looking to host anytime between June 21st- August 25th. I'm flexible with the length of stay (1 week minimum and potentially up to 2 months). Work hours can be discussed individually depending on skills offered etc.- I'm thinking around 4-5 hours of work during the week with weekends free in exchange for accommodations including meals/groceries. I might be in and out of town during parts of the su... more inside

Help a family with disabilities to maintain a 5 acre homestead in Savannah, GA and improve a tiny farm on a bridgeless Island.

There is a wide choice of help you can provide dependent on the weather, the season, your interests and your skills

I have hired a landscape architect to do a permaculture design for our five acres, and an architect to design our new heated water therapy room. The design phase has ended and there may be construction by the time you arrive. It has been a slow process of transforming my home into something sustainable and self supporting.

My Savannah home has several bedrooms and bathrooms which I may ask you to share with other guests. My tiny farm has tiny buildings with a shared bath, flush toilet, and camp kitchen. There is also one converted travel trailer with a humanure toilet system and an outdoor shower.

I do not host people who use tobacco products of any kind and who consume excessive amounts of alcohol. Absolutely no illegal activ... more inside
