*Now accepting interns for the 2019 season (May-September).*

We are building an off-the-grid homestead and education center following the principles of organic agriculture and permaculture design. We are situated on 12 acres of field and forest, in the rural hamlet of West Edmeston, located alongside a growing Amish community in central New York State.

Our accredited internship program has attracted interns from North & South America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and New Zealand. Interns will gain hands-on experience in low-till organic farming, regenerative agroforestry, permaculture, natural building, and food preservation. We are seeking interns interested in disconnecting from the mainstream, learning to support ourselves by growing our own organic produce, utilizing natural building methods to construct our barn and dwelling structures, making our own household products like soap and shampoo, reviving traditional agricultural and lifestyle practices, and living in community.

URGENT SPECIAL REQUEST:
My mother died recently and I am tasked with clearing out the house, cleaning and painting it for sale. There is lots of heavy lifting (books, etc) as well as the heavy cleaning and painting.

SPECIFIC DATES:
Arrive at my house north of DC Dec 31st or a teeny bit earlier if needed. We drive to Ocean City, NJ on January 1st. I hope to get it all done by the 7th - and with help I can. And the weather needs to cooperate. I would like full time help - a regular 40 hour a week job - which is twice the amount on Workaway. But then when we come back to DC about the 7th, you have a week of zero work - you can just be a tourist in DC, because you have done 2 weeks worth of workaway work (40 hours = 2 weeks of 20 hours each) already while in Ocean City.

Then you can either start with the more normal tasks that I have, below, or not, and travel on.

I hope to find the perfect match for this! The beach is nice in the winter and we are just 3 block... more inside

Currently seeking volunteers for the following

Baltimore, MD

-- December 5 2018 - ---------->

--------------------------------------------------

I have a tastefully restored classic row-house in Baltimore, Maryland.

I am a professional in my early forties who works full time in Washington, DC and owns a home in Baltimore, MD. The Baltimore home is a restored 19th century townhouse and I have five bedrooms that I share with roommates. Since I work full time and spend a lot of time commuting, sometimes I need some help keeping the home clean and with errands like trash/recycling and dishes.

As for me, I speak conversational Spanish and some French, and can read any Romance language. I work in International Finance and have traveled the world and I love meeting people from new places. I am friendly and get along well with people, though I do expect that work wi... more inside

**Looking for Helpers for 2019!**

Peaceful Hollow Homestead is located in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. We live in a quiet hollow, with no neighbors in sight. There are no city lights, and you can see every star on a clear night!

Running a homestead is hard but rewarding work. Homesteading is not for the faint of heart. It requires a certain strength of character to chose such a life.

We could always use an extra set of hands to accomplish our projects and keep everything running smoothly. We have a lot you can be involved in.

Some things we need your help with:
- Caring for our horse, chickens, ducks, cats and dog. If you are not allergic to honey bees, you may help us with our beekeeping.

- General landscaping upkeep.

- Caring for young fruit trees.

- Plant, cultivate, harvest fruits and vegetables; Assist with home-canning (preserving) of fruits and vegetables. Extending the herb garden.

- We have various ongoing construction and home ... more inside

One thing I can advise helpers who want to get a placement with any host is to have at least one PICTURE of YOURSELF. Just as you like to "see" who and where you`re coming, hosts like to see who they`re opening their home to.
It is chilly Autumn now so there isn't alot to do in the garden. I do need someone who can do flat roof rubber roofing, and car mechanics. I would really appreciate someone who can do handyman jobs and wants to come for a week or two. I sell things online and on eBay and would love someone who is good at writing descriptions in English and also anyone who is experienced at building websites.
I have a large house and property in a diverse area of Staten Island, New York that I`m always working on.
I plant a vegetable garden in the spring using the square foot gardening method. A friend and I rebuilt the whole house on the inside including jacking it up and replacing the foundation, sills and beams so there`s very little major work to be done inside except ... more inside

We have two locations--one urban and one suburban. We currently have goats and chickens, but are hoping to get a large vegetable garden in for spring. There isn't a ton to do over the winter but we do so appreciate the couple of hours a day help that we are getting. Looking for independent people who can work alone or bring their own traveling companion.

I am looking for like-minded individuals to co-create an intentional community of neurodiverse people who share similar humanist values; particularly, secularism and human flourishing. I think of this place as "Marty's Island of Misfit People". It's an oasis for all square-pegs, misfits, geeks, black sheep, odd-balls, Aspies, strange and quirky people. Here you can be yourself - you don't have to "pass" with us. You don't have to explain to us or hide that wierd thing you do - I don't know what it is, but we all have strange little things - stims or behaviors. It's OK here, we get it - because we do it too. For example, my hands have calluses on them from a strange rubbing motion I do subconsciously.

You are probably between the ages of 27 and 40. You have never felt as if you really fit in; but you are fine with that because you always have been true to yourself. In fact, the truth is very important to you. You probably have lost friends over the truth. Perhaps like me, you have... more inside
