We are a small hill sheep farm. We raise high quality Icelandic Sheep for milk, meat, and wool, and we sell breeding stock. In the Green Mountains of central Vermont, we rise early for daily feeding chores of our horses, sheep, and chickens, and then move on to other farm chores during the day such as skirting wool, making yogurt, selling at our local farmer’s market, or hand milking our ewes (in season).
We concentrate on producing hearty, disease and parasite resistant sheep, and on keeping them in a healthy and humane environment. Our flock is intentionally small so that we can know each of our “girls” personally. :)
We offer a room in our home (or a pullout couch if the room is taken) and all meals in exchange for about 4 hours of work a day. We are only a few miles from Vermont’s Long Trail, and from Bolton Valley ski area. We are also a short drive (15min) from Lake Champlain and Burlington, VT.
We are also members of other sites.
If you are interested in coming to help, I... more inside

We are a 220 year old family farm switching over from organic soil growing to organic hydroponic greenhouse growing. We have one 3000 square ft greenhouse mostly completed and are finishing construction shortly on another 5000 square ft greenhouse. We are looking for help on all fronts, from landscaping, light construction, painting, planting, harvesting, jarring, etc. We have wild blueberry, blackberry and raspberry picking and eating in season on the property.
Our location is in Southern Maine, 75 miles North of Boston, 25 miles South of Portland and 10 miles from the coast and beaches.
There is a large farmhouse with spare bedrooms and bath and a rustic cottage for privacy also. We do have wi-fi.
We are striving for self-sustainability and are interested in anything that works for the planet and for those involved here.
I have lots more to say and hear from you if you are interested in an opportunity that could turn into a long term benefit for anyone involved.

We are a small group of dedicated idealists pioneering the wilderness of the state of Vermont on our off grid farmstead which is currently being built by hand with materials from the landscape and reclaimed materials. Greetings, Helpers!

This is a five acre organic homestead in the Monadnock region, but just 90 minutes from Boston and Brattleboro, VT. The property has 2,000 square feet of annual garden space, 500 square feet of perennial space, and permaculture inspired landscaping. In addition to medicinal herbs, fruit trees, and berry bushes, we have laying hens and in midseason, meat chickens.

In the 2016 season, we added 15 blueberry bushes, hardy kiwis plants and hazelnut bushes and created mobile Quonset huts for the chickens. We will be getting a small greenhouse up and running for season extension. In 2017, we added a field for meat birds, raised beds for a garden expansion. In the 2018 season, we added a tiny human! In 2019, we will be completing a tiny house, hoping to finish the raised beds, adding woodchip mulch to various sites around the property and trying to stay ahead of the weeds!

Spring stays are for the hardy, in an unheated space above the barn.Tasks:Spring cleaning inside and out and clean up some forest areas.
My daughter is a student and I work often as the town librarian. So we are often out and you would have time on your own. I need kitchen and common room help and this would supplement the limited outdoor tasks. You could include in your hours kitchen clean up and common room floor vacuuming. It would also round out the 3 hours a day I ask you to work. You may make your schedule.
We have two light carpentry projects in the works, which you may help on depending on where we are at with them. One is a woodshed and the other is installing a composting toilet room.

We heat with wood. The common space is warm, usually between 65 and 70 degrees. There are 2 couches, an ample table, a counter with stools and a comfy chair, so lots of room to hang out and work. I do have a 9 pm quiet and close the common room time. Most of us are up at 6 to get going ... more inside

We are looking for someone to stay in our house to help with assorted household chores, some childcare (we have 14 and 9 year old), some cooking, and household errands, beginning in September 2019. We have a single room in the downstairs of our beautiful townhouse in the town of Hudson, right on the Hudson River, about a 2 hour train ride north of NYC. Ideally, the person will have a car. We are especially interested in people who love music - our oldest son plays piano and the youngest plays violin and drums - and in people who speak French. We are interested in learning about new foods and languages.

We are a small family farm that focuses first and foremost on being stewards to a beautiful 45 acre piece of land (5 acres field, 40 acres forest) in Acton, Maine. 5 large lakes are within a few minutes driving distance, and our summer afternoons/siestas are typically enjoyed there on the canoe.

Magdalena is a massage therapist and natural medicine practitioner, Kurt is a former wilderness therapy instructor and crafty woodsman, Izzy is an energetic and eager-to-learn 3 year old, and Root is a wild and incredibly friendly terrier mix.

We have established several large garden beds that provide most of our food throughout summer and autumn, and are wanting to create more this spring. There is an abundance of wild medicinal plants on the property, which we use to make a variety of products like salves and tinctures. Meandering streams fill the forest edges and a pond with snow melt throughout early summer, and a plethora of trails make for a sweet scenery change.

This is a 45-acre organic homestead in upstate New York. The land is varied and diverse with rolling meadows, a hardwood forest, swimming pond, small stream, and even an old family cemetery. There is a public beach two miles up the road and thousands of acres of state land for hiking just a short walk from the farm.

We are located in a quiet farming community about four hours north of NYC, close to Ithaca and the Finger Lakes, the Catskills, and the Adirondacks. Recently many Amish families have been moving into our area, revitalizing the area`s farms and businesses. The village of New Berlin is four miles away and has a post office, library, and an excellent cafe.

Your work exchange leaves many hours each day to pursue your own projects and goals. It`s very quiet and mellow here, perfect for artistic, self-entertaining Nature lovers.

We generally start work between 8 and 9 a.m and try to finish up well before lunch. Most days about 2-3 hours work exchange is all that is ... more inside

Come join the schooner AJ Meerwald! She is an original, 90 year-old oyster schooner. The work can be hard but rewarding. If you are willing to be challenged, have a positive attitude, and enjoy being part of a team and the feel of family, then this might be for you! In exchange for your help you will be getting a bed/berth to sleep in, 3 meals a day from a cook, as well as learning all about sailing and the environment of the bays and rivers in New England. We would prefer helpers who can stay a month or more (That way you can really use the sailing knowledge we will teach you and you can visit more ports!) There will of course be days off so that you can see the interesting sights in the areas we sail to, plus the crew often hosts and is also invited to awesome events! We sail all around the State of New Jersey and also in the New York and Chesapeake Bay areas teaching young students and the public about history, sailing, and the environment. Our home port of Bivalve is surrounded... more inside
