This is a small intimate creative arts retreat center in the forest surrounded by a brook, off the grid,with composting toilets, a tiny garden area ( anyone with a green thumb will be gratefully welcomed...the garden is suffering as I seem to be missing the gardner gene:-) ), three huts, a large studio and meeting room and a main house/ lodge. We specialize in workshops and retreats that combine the arts and focusing. We always need help winterizing and spring cleaning: cutting and stacking wood , loading three sheds, cutting and collecting kindling, tending the small garden making new raised beds, getting the huts ready for spring,storms up or down, clearing the trails, creating new trails, chain saw know how a plus, landscaping/creative gardening and/or carpentry skills a super plus for new projects. ***Amazing opportunity for the 2020 season! Stay with us all season (May/June through Sep/Oct). Learn about organic vegetable, fruit, & flower production from planting, care, harvesting, Farmers' Market, wholesale orders, CSA program, canning & preserving, seed saving, permaculture, sustainability & so much more!***

We are a small farm in eastern Connecticut. It has been farmland since the 1700’s. The farm is run by a small family (parents & son).

Some of the activities you may be involved in are planting, harvesting, weeding, farmers’ markets, CSA, wholesale deliveries, canning
& preserving, farm to table dinner, house chores & more. It depends on what time of the season you are here. Four of the main vegetable gardens are next to the house but there are others that are farther from the house, so sometimes there is a lot of walking involved.

You will have your own bedroom in the farmhouse. Produce, eggs, & beef from the farm are available for meals (anything else ... more inside

Openings for 2020 start June and go through the summer and perhaps into fall!

We live on beautiful land on top of a hill with great views.

What I am most looking for is help care-taking the house (cooking and cleaning) and land (mowing), as well as rides for my son and me in my car. This means independent workers with an eye for neatness to bring the grounds and home to order and maintain that order. Some tend to prefer indoor or outdoor work, and that is fine. Simply let me know where your passions lie.

In addition to basic house maintenance it is always lovely to meet up with people passionate about natural building as we flesh out and remodel the house:

This coming summer's projects will focus on:
* finishing putting up the cedar shingle siding on the addition
* finishing framing out the interior of the addition for a few walls and for the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry
* building a more luxurious composting toilet setup inside
* framing out the wall for the s... more inside

Fall stays are for the hardy, in an unfinished space above the barn.Double futon bed with a feather bed on top.Tasks:gardening , building, yard work, some inside cleaning, painting.
I work often as the town librarian. So we are often out and you would have time on your own. You may make your schedule.
We have light carpentry projects in the works, which you may help on depending on where we are at with them. One is a chicken pen, a tiny house and the other is installing a composting toilet room.

We heat with wood. The common space is warm, usually between 65 and 70 degrees. There are 2 couches, an ample table, a counter with stools and a comfy chair, so lots of room to hang out and work. I do have a 9 pm quiet and close the common room time. Most of us are up at 6 to get going for the day.
My small rural solar homestead is in the beautiful Monadnock region of New Hampshire. I have an extensive garden of herbs, flowers and vegetables, chickens,and a wood lot. I do teas, tinct... more inside

I have a two family house about 10 minutes north of Boston by car. It's on the bus line, as well as a short walk to the subway. The work is some outside maintenance, some dog walking, some small painting projects, gardening, sewing, organizing, cleaning... I am seeking a helpxer or two. Mostly right now, it will be work outside, depending on the weather. lots of gardening. Creativity is welcomed, as I have approximately 32 art projects planned for this spring and summer. I’d like to build a pizza oven in my back yard, make birdhouses, and a large figure(maybe an insect) from repurposed/recycled materials. I also plan on clearing out my basement this summer and need help with that- it’s full of tools and ...stuff. Lots ‘o stuff.
I am a licensed mental health counselor and teacher, newly retired but still working part-time. Also, I’m newly vegan(well, now as of June, really pescatarian & vegetarian) and experimenting with tasty recipes. My daughter is 30 and has boomera... more inside

Hello!

Priorities right now depending on your skill set. There are three kids of help, I would like. I am assuming these would not come from the same person. So either you like to work outdoors or you are more comfortable cleaning house and doing small household projects.

1. Household help – Cleaning would be a priority with small projects like touch up painting, or organizing paperwork, or organizing closets, etc.
2. Farm help -
* Vegetable and flower gardening
* Prepping a new area for garden, berries, and trees. Here that basically means mowing any grass very short and covering it with leaves and whatever organic material can be found for free.
* Animal care
* Light carpentry
3. Next Spring, beginning in April, I will be looking for someone who would like to take care of two tents on the property that I rent out. I would like a third, but cannot do three by myself so if I find someone, I will build a third to rent.

About this property and me

My name is... more inside

We are a small hill sheep farm. We raise high quality Icelandic Sheep for milk, meat, and wool, and we sell breeding stock. In the Green Mountains of central Vermont, we rise early for daily feeding chores of our horses, sheep, and chickens, and then move on to other farm chores during the day such as skirting wool, making yogurt, selling at our local farmer’s market, or hand milking our ewes (in season).
We concentrate on producing hearty, disease and parasite resistant sheep, and on keeping them in a healthy and humane environment. Our flock is intentionally small so that we can know each of our “girls” personally. :)
We offer a room in our home (or a pullout couch if the room is taken) and all meals in exchange for about 4 hours of work a day. We are only a few miles from Vermont’s Long Trail, and from Bolton Valley ski area. We are also a short drive (15min) from Lake Champlain and Burlington, VT.
We are also members of other sites.
If you are interested in coming to help, I... more inside

Hi
Thanks for your interest in coming to stay with us and taking the time to read all this! We are nestled in the beautiful wood in the Hudson Highlands just off the Appalachian Trail on a dirt road just up from the Hudson River. If you love the woods, you’ll enjoy it here. We have lots of wild life, deer, coyote, bear, bobcats...We are somewhat “secluded”, well, surrounded by trees is more like it, but also in proximity to NYC. It is easy to get to NYC on the RR if you were ever in the mood. We have wonderful neighbors and a very cool community of creative and conscious people.
I am a therapeutic yoga teacher for over 30 years and have a small but very well equipped yoga studio on premises that I teach out of.
I also work internationally with a few not-for-profit groups called The Tracking Project and Mother Earth Restoration that teaches nature awareness to youths and works to preserve ancient indigenous wisdom and culture and are basically dedicated to saving the Mother Ea... more inside
