I am from NYC. I needed a change, a big change. After selling my small home I took a leap of faith and moved to Belize, looking for paradise to build a small "boutique" hotel out of shipping containers.
I am making a five 40' container Guest Suites. Two are 48'x8' with ensuite Indoor/Outdoor bathrooms, sunrise over the sea and sunset over the mountain views. One is 40'x8' and one 24'x8' with the same, sans the outdoor shower. Lastly a 25'x8' w/prvt. bth and 15'x8' w/shared bth. One 40'x8' container pool. 200 steps from the warm Caribbean Sea,

It will definitely be a show place in the small fishing town of Hopkins, Belize!

Did I mention this will be the VERY FIRST 2 Story Shipping Container Home/Guest house ever built in Belize?

Although 2/3rds done, I only have the veranda, walkway and stairs that still needs doing, as far as the construction is concerned anyway. The rest is welding and boy-oh-boy is there a lot of it! I bought a beautiful plasma cutter and ... more inside

We are a couple participating in a loosely organized organic permaculture farm/garden located in the foothills of the Maya Mountains in western Belize. We think of ourselves as an environmental and cultural learning centre experimenting with organic permaculture methods best suited for local conditions. This is a no-profit farm. All the extra produce is given away to the locals or traded for something. We provide basic food of rice, beans, flour and oil. Helpers are welcome to any produce from the farm that is ready to harvest. The choices change with the seasons. We have pineapple, papaya, lemon, lime, chia leaf, cassava, taro, hot pepper, coconut, pineapple arugula, and the mangos are ready!!
Wake up to sunshine and the sound of jungle bird song. Your accommodation is a thatch roof house with a covered outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower, no hot water, composting toilet. There is no refrigerator or washing machine. We have a portable modem that can be used for wifi. Data ... more inside

Our farm is in the lovely village of Big Falls in the Toledo district of Belize. We are a couple with a sweet 1 year old baby girl. While our farm is in its early phase we are living in a rental home nearby. We offer camping at the rental, but you will have the opportunity to spend time at the farm as well. We are seeking a mother’s helper as well as a farm hand, so a couple might be a good fit! But if you’re a single and have experience with babies or farming we are open to one volunteer too! We are also open to families with children. Please contact me if you’d like to know more about our family and farm. We are seeking like minded individuals to join us and help us, so here is a bit about us. Please reach out if you feel a resonance!
We are total foodies, eat as clean as possible, into music and art, spiritual seekers, and peace warriors! We care deeply for the earth and are honored to be able to tend to this land!

We are an isolated small organic farm in the middle of a thousand acres of jungle reserve in Southern Belize. The jungle includes broadleaf forest, riparian zone (including swamp forest) and a few miles of river frontage with several creeks running through the jungle. We are nestled between several other protected lands managed by local NGOs – nothing but jungle for miles!
The farm itself is just three acres, follows permaculture principles and is in its fledgling stage. This is an ideal opportunity to use your design skills and really create something. Already we have mango, breadfruit, mulberry, avocado, plum, vanilla, pineapple and coconut growing.

Livestock includes pigs, goats, local and Mennonite chickens and six dogs. Two dogs are in the pasture with goats but the rest are around the house so it is important you are comfortable with large dogs.
We focus on conservation and studying and understanding the world around us. This reserve is home to hundreds of species of bird... more inside

We welcome you to our farm and look forward to adding to your experience in Belize!

I am from Honduras and moved to Belize when I was a teenager because of the political situation. I own a small restaurant by the road side and work there with my daughters. I make beautiful artwork and jewerly to sell. My husband and I are also building a farm to further support our family.

Because we are always working, we are not able to get a lot done on the farm and need some help. Our hope is to one day be able to live off of the land and use it to supply all the food for the restaurant. It would be amazing if in the future we could host Airbnb guests on the farm to provide additional income.

There is a lot to get done. We are looking for caring and hardworking people to assist with things such as clearing the land, planting seedlings, digging a well, caring for the animals, and building a chicken coup and small cabanas to sleep in. We ask for about 20 dedicated hours a week. The sch... more inside

We are 21 acres on a river and striving toward sustainability with many ongoing eco-projects. We have free-range chickens, ducks, and seven dogs, 3 hugelcultur gardens, lots of fruit trees and medicinal plants and we are off grid with solar energy. We are seeking help 3-5 hours per day in exchange for food and comfortable lodging in private guest house, or small trailer. We encourage helpXers to work on their own projects as long as they are within the realm of our mission toward sustainability, or participate in some of ours such as organic gardening, or some of our planned and partially completed projects such as aquaponics (started), biochar, cob oven, building simple thatched A-frame shelters. Rancho los Amigos is both a teaching and learning center. We welcome and appreciate expertise.
