Our farm is located in a beautiful town. We cultivate coffee and raise cows. We also produce vegetables with organic fertilizers. Our farm is surrounded by the beautiful nature that identifies our country.
Currently, we are working together with another family, so you are going to visit two farms but with similar activities.
We are creating new projects every year, so we need help during every single month.
We provide every meal, a room, and basic services. Time working is around 6 or 7 hours per day.

Living with a Costarican family
Located south of Puriscal County, our small town of Mastatal borders La Cangreja National Park. Our farm, strives to build and produce necessities in harmony with the earth while helping both the local community and our visitors live in a sustainable manner.
Marcos and Jenny are the managers from Finca Siempre Verde. A young couple with a big knowledge and love for nature wil show you the real Pura Vida in our country .

Volunteers will participate in both construction and farming projects, and have the opportunity to help care for animals as well.

Previous building projects include a cob ovien, composting toilets, open air showers and tool shed renovation. Presently we are working on a new composting toilet and shower area next to the volunteer lodge.

We also have an art day every week for people to do creative projects and use some of the skills volunteers may have to produce beautiful art around the farm.

Thanks for you interest in volunteering at our farm. Let me give you a little background on our project. Our finca has been in our family Freeman for about 20 years. Over the last 5 years we have started to build cabinas and a little dinning rancho on the farm. This year we have begun heavily planting fruit trees like advacado, mango, guanabana, cashue, lime, coffee. Some of the trees bear fruit others our a couple years away. We have also begun our premaculture program with many different veggies in our garden beds.

We are in the process of becoming a sustainable farm and community in the cool tropical mountains of Costa Rica. Our mountain top working coffee and banana farm has year round cool climate, views, fruits, wildlife and waterfalls. The longer you will stay the more you will learn. We have various positions volunteers can fill depending on experiences and skills. Everything including building projects, permaculture, energy, gardening, animal care, cooking and even computer work.

We currently have a large 6 bedroom house of which we rent out bedrooms to paying guests on airbnb but we still have need for working visitors or volunteers that can commit to longer time periods.

Our farm consists of a coffee/banana plantation, various fruit trees, pasture, forest, various breeds of chickens, guinea hens, ducks, chickens, sheep, goats and a few horses. Everyday you can see toucans, 100s of bird species and sloths among the trees.

We have several professional local workers that he... more inside

Committed to the health & well being of the planet, I am investing my energies into the residents of this small pueblo, Cano Negro, which is now my home. My children are grown & living abroad but practice & promote sustainable lifestyles which they learned from their mom growing up in Costa Rica. Now I have the time to share this knowledge with this special community, far off the beaten path.... The most immediate need will be during July 2019 when the students will be on their 3 week vacation. Although I believe that children need free time, I am offering an alternative to the TV, video games & cel phones. We will be running a free summer camp with arts, song, dance & games within the context of a structured eco-camp being implemented around Costa Rica. Fluent Spanish is not necessary but obviously some spanish language skills will be helpful. If you love children or would like an informal opportunity to teach & guide children, this may be just for you! After camp I will be loo... more inside

Animal Rescue and Sanctuary and Organic Vegan Farm in Central Costa Rica

Hello everyone!

What we do: We take care of animals, we grow organic food, we prepare and eat tasty vegan meals, we minimize our impact on the earth, and we enjoy the company of our Costa Rican friends and neighbors. We have run a volunteer program for over 9 years, and have had several hundred people come to work with us!

Our farm is primarily an animal rescue, rehab and sanctuary. Our doors are open to animals in need. We currently have many rescue dogs, a goat, two pigs, a horse and three cats. Some came off the streets, some were abandoned, others were injured and no longer wanted. We adopt out what we can, but most are “lifers” on the farm.

The property (roughly 3.5 hectares) is covered with many tropical fruit trees, including water apple, mandarin orange, banana (many varieties), guayaba, guanabana, cas, ciamito, lime, coffee and araza. We also put in plant beds with peppers, cilantro, cabba... more inside
