We are looking to bring gardeners, permaculturalists, stone masons, sculptors, welders and fine carpenters to help create unique living/art center on the slopes of Volcan Ilalo, outside Quito, Ecuador. The helpers will be offered accommodation in exchange for their contribution in their particular area of expertise. Each participant will have an individual exchange agreement based upon what they can offer and their degree of commitment. The accommodation will be in an adobe house with access to a full kitchen, shared bathroom and free internet. Couples are welcome. We would like help-exers to stay for at least three weeks, but are flexible. We are fluent in English and Spanish. Work can be half days or a few full-days a week to allow for trips. Again, we are flexible. On site are a series of caves used for musical concerts, drumming circles, sound healing and other events to which the help-exers would be welcome. The views are amazing!

This place is dedicated to trainings in the Taoist internal arts. Steve is a qigong master who was a long time student of a very powerful and advanced qigong master (Taoist wizard) who was also Bruce Lee's uncle and main kung fu teacher. The two main goals here are to grow enough food to be self sustainable, and to have a retreat where students can come and learn various aspects of chi kung and meditation. Qigong, chi kung (Taoist yoga), which has a lot of soft flowing movement, similar to tai chi. Steve is also an expert in tai chi and the self defense methods of the Taoist internal martial arts.

We are starting on a permaculture food forest in the Andes mountains of Southern Ecuador. We are close to the crest of the mighty Andes mountain range, and near to the Podacarpus National Park, which has more biodiversity than any other place on Earth. All the neighbors are far down the mountain and can neither be seen nor heard. It has been found this area has the cleanest air and pur... more inside

Hello! We are Charlotte (USA) and Christian (Ecuador), and we have an Ecoculturual Finca outside of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Ecuador. The Finca is about 8 hectares of hilly jungle, filled with cacao, banana, avocado, papaya, coffee, bamboo, sugar cane, and other tropical fruit trees. Christian started this project in 2012 to create a community of people who want to live consciously and in harmony with the natural world. We believe sustainability has an environmental component (we eat vegetarian, use composting toilets, minimize waste, use resources we have on the finca, etc), but that it also has a cultural component; infusing art, cultural exchange, genuine connection, music, intergenerational sharing, and creative problem solving into daily life is important to living sustainably! The hope is that by starting small, by living well on the finca, we can spread an environmental consciousness to our surrounding community, and hopefully beyond.

Location

In 2008, we had a vision of transforming a run-down farmhouse and 15-hectares (38-acres) of over-exploited farmland into a world apart from mainstream culture, where people could grow, heal, live sustainably and regenerate the land while living in community.

Rhiannon sits on the edge of a plateau with 360-degree views; clouds roll over snow-capped volcanoes and the sunsets still take our breath away! The sun can be hot, the wind can be fierce and the nights can be chilly – but with strong motivation, a wood-burning stove and good company, it’s a great way to embrace the elements!

Activities

The activities we offer and engage with are based on our 5 core values:

* Live & Work in Community *

We aim to create an inclusive environment where like-minded people from around the world can build lasting relationships. Families with children and people from minority groups (often LGBT) are ... more inside

We are startíng a small guest house complex directly on the beach in Engabao, a fishing and surfing town located 15 km from Playas and 1 hour from Guayaquil. The guesthouse consists of furnished 1 and 2 bedroom suites with completely equipped kitchens, hot water and DirectTV. There is a pool and gazebo overlooking the ocean. At present help is mainly needed with construction, painting, landscaping and out door cleaning, while from Dec. to May there may be housekeeping, attending guests, and caring for plants. Helpers work for 4 hours a day with 2 days off midweek and live in one of the suites. They are responsible for preparing their own meals. There's plenty of time for lounging around the pool, enjoying the beach or surfing. We need people who can work without supervision and enjoy nature. We are on a beautiful out of the way beach which generally has tourists only on holidays.
