Hello! We are Charlotte (USA) and Christian (Ecuador), and we have an Ecoculturual Finca outside of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Ecuador. The Finca is about 8 hectares of hilly jungle, filled with cacao, banana, avocado, papaya, coffee, bamboo, sugar cane, and other tropical fruit trees. Christian started this project in 2012 to create a community of people who want to live consciously and in harmony with the natural world. We believe sustainability has an environmental component (we eat vegetarian, use composting toilets, minimize waste, use resources we have on the finca, etc), but that it also has a cultural component; infusing art, cultural exchange, genuine connection, music, intergenerational sharing, and creative problem solving into daily life is important to living sustainably! The hope is that by starting small, by living well on the finca, we can spread an environmental consciousness to our surrounding community, and hopefully beyond.

**Covid 19 Update: We were in strict lockdown for 6.5 months. We started opening-up September 1st, so far so good. We had a few people get sick but no hospitalizations and no deaths. It has felt relatively safe here. There is no longer a 2-week quarantine if you have a negative test result. And the busses are running again. I stopped taking volunteers in March but will start accepting volunteers again starting October. I will put up another update should the situation change. I have missed my volunteers and look forward to having you all again.

I fell in love with beautiful Mompiche, moved here and started to build my dream house in 2006. It is a five-story bamboo house, built like a wedding cake. The top floor has a spectacular 360-degree view, with views from the shower and the toilet too!
Mompiche is a quaint fishing village with a pristine 40-mile crescent moon bay. From October to April there are world-class waves, attracting surfers from around the world. It is surr... more inside

Greetings,

We have a fun and eclectic guesthouse directly on the beach in Santa Marianita. We are located 20 minutes south of Manta. Santa Marianita beach is long, sandy and safe to walk day or night. This is not a party beach and is quiet on weekdays. Weekends and holidays can be noisy. It is well known for kite surfing.

Our volunteers are asked to help 5 hours, 5 days per week with two days each week off to explore and enjoy this wonderful area in Ecuador. We prefer a commitment of one month or longer for the right people. Sometimes we do take less time. We are looking for construction/handymen and artists. Misc. Duties include cleaning, caring for cats and dogs, helping with maintenance, painting or crafts for future gallery We have several on site cats and dogs who need not only care but love.
We are seeking mature, outgoing, energetic, low drama and drug-free volunteers. Our volunteers along with the company of our rescue cats and dogs make this place what i... more inside

The volunteer cabaña is not available until October or November. The volunteer rustic cabin/glamping area is available now. Thank you.

This exchange is for help with land maintenance on a small rural homestead. This includes weeding and weed-whacking, permaculture and gardening projects (building trellises, raised garden beds, terracing, water-works, building new paths, and open to new ideas), occasional harvesting, picking and processing coffee beans, composting, pest-control, planting, mulching, watering, landscaping, eco-construction and some manual labor such as digging, rock-work, etc. Temperatures are comfortable year-round. We have 2 options for work-trade/lodging. Both are for lodging only (food not included, but food is very inexpensive here) and leave plenty of free time left to explore this beautiful region of the Andes: Option 1) Work is 15 hours per week in exchange for your own private, secure and cosy stand-alone brick structure, 15 m2/161 square feet. We are startíng a small guest house complex directly on the beach in Engabao, a fishing and surfing town located 15 km from Playas and 1 hour from Guayaquil. The guesthouse consists of furnished 1 and 2 bedroom suites with completely equipped kitchens, hot water and DirectTV. There is a pool and gazebo overlooking the ocean. At present help is mainly needed with construction, painting, landscaping and out door cleaning, while from Dec. to May there may be housekeeping, attending guests, and caring for plants. Helpers work for 4 hours a day with 2 days off midweek and live in one of the suites. They are responsible for preparing their own meals. There's plenty of time for lounging around the pool, enjoying the beach or surfing. We need people who can work without supervision and enjoy nature. We are on a beautiful out of the way beach which generally has tourists only on holidays.

COVID-19 has affected all of us and made us value our health more than ever. If there was ever a time to live and work close to nature we believe it’s now. It is a good time to come together and prove that ‘another world is possible’. There is a lot to learn from each other and our current situation as human beings in relation to our environment, Rhiannon tries to be an example of another way to live. If you are in need of a change, interested in getting away from the city and being able to walk around mask free in 15 beautiful hectares of the Andes, perhaps volunteering with us is a good option for you. At Rhiannon we try to keep life simple; enjoy growing our own vegetables, cooking vegetarian food, taking care of our animals and the silence of the mountain. Living in community at this time requires not only being responsible for yourself, but also for the health of those you live with. We are required to communi... more inside

Come and help us at the Best hostel in South America.
Just check the photos, it's an amazing place with great views, animals and surrounded by nature. Volunteers at our hostel have plenty of opportunity to get to know, and hang out with, our local staff. Our staff also love this interaction, and they are often inviting volunteers to their homes, to visit their families, head off to a football game, etc, etc...
