We are starting an intentional community in the southern Sierra of Oaxaca, Mexico. We are 20 minutes walking from the closest village called San Sebastián Rio Hondo, where you have access to internet and small shops.

November to May is the dry season and at an altitude of 2500m it gets to be 0-2 degrees at night for one or two months, but at the same time when the sun comes out it can be 25-30 degrees Celsius under the sun. The rainy season usually starts in May/June and lasts until October/November.

We are 4 young families from Germany, Australia, Mexico, Norway and Switzerland. We all have small children and do not yet live permanently in the land. We are looking to live harmoniously and simply in these 6 hectares where we will start to build our earthhouses this year.

The land is still quite raw, in the sense of there’s not much infrastructure. We are already growing some of our own food and we have fruit trees. We have three small creeks full of small waterfalls and ... more inside

Our Hostel is a brand-new Hostel in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas; Mexico.

San Cristobal de Las Casas has been awarded as the Most Magical Village in Mexico for 2011 and 2012, so the city can offer so many different ways to live: culture, arts, music, nature and a great chance to meet people from all around the world and to share experiences.

Our Hostel is just 2 blocks from mainsquare and offer different services in and out the place: hosting, tours, temazcal. Our place is an old big neoclassic arquitecture house, with a beautiful big garden with temazcal (mayan sauna), hammocks and a brand-new terrace with a 360 grades view from the city.

We are looking for 6-8 people to help us in the Hostel with these main activities: reception (welcome guests, take them to their rooms, offer our tours, etc), rooms/beds cleaning, laundry, night shifts, hostel promotion at the bus station, campfire nights, in-place events and the mor... more inside

I have a 20 hectare property in the state of Yucatan by the Gulf of Mexico near the beautiful fishing village of San Felipe. I have a degree in electrical engineering and I developed many ways to be self-sufficient. I cook solar-electric, with a 110 volt rice cooker connected directly to 4 small solar panels connected in series, without a battery or invertor. I also cook with a wood burning rocket stove that seems to amaze everyone. At Hacienda Santa Maria you can learn how to live in a civilized way on just a few dollars a day. I will show you how to mostly live off the Sun and how I build a beautiful concrete block house for about the price of a car using my invention "Horsy". Learn how to control weeds without chemicals, naturally fertilize the irrigation water and make any crop use significantly less water with "Rock culture". I live without a fridge and eat fresh food instead. At "The University of Santa Maria" you can learn everything you need to know to prosper, even during a... more inside

My name is Victor and I have been teaching English to young people from my community for 8 years. I have a small school in downtown Tehuantepec near the market, banks, restaurants, and the tropical forest full of coconuts, bananas, and mangoes. Tehuantepec is located 20 minutes from the ocean beach community, Salina Cruz. I am located only a five minutes taxi ride from the local bus station.

I am looking for one person at a time to come and work with my students, which includes conversing with my students and teaching if you are able to. My students need more practice talking to people who speak fluent and clear english. I ask for five or six hours a day working with my students and in return I offer a place for you to sleep and one meal a day and a tour around the city to show you my local culture. You can stay for a minimum one week and a maximum of two weeks, but we can make a deal if it works out and you want to stay longer.NOTE; at the moment im just receiving couples

We are a friendly, laid back hostel, in the heart of Mexico's main, coastal, tourist city.
In fact, we are the only hostel in the city and for miles around that's actually located right on the beach.

We have 3 relaxed dogs who need walking, and we have cleaning and customer care tasks to attend to in the hostel. We also have a night shift on weekends which can be arranged separately if you're interested. Oh, and if you are a good cook, we'll probably offer to marry you, too!

We need presentable, friendly HelpXers who can work 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. We're usually quite flexible with hours and tasks, but you must commit to a minimum of 3 weeks, and we count on you being punctual.

Wifi, linen, hot water, secure lockers, fans, a mixed dorm bed, tea, and coffee are all included, and when we do group meals, we can organise for you to eat/drink for free. At the moment, breakfast is not included.

Send us a message and we'll organise something soon
