Kamusta!

Our story is about the power of travel and following your dreams.

Giving up the city life in Manila where I was born and raised, and now owning a simple candy store and a backpacker hostel in beautiful Palawan, Philippines.

But travelling is my passion. And sharing stories I've learned from all around the world and the beauty of different cultures would be amazing.

A little bit about me... I have lived in 5 countries and speak five languages. As a tourist I've visited over 25 countries, and remain a traveller at heart. I have been fortunate enough that these 5 countries were diverse-- a first world country, second world, third world, and what I would call a fourth world country. The cultures I've learned from are also diverse covering three continents (North America, South America, Asia).

What are the countries you might ask? Cambodia, Brazil, Colombia, United States, and the Philippines! And yes, I do speak the lan... more inside

A large 44ft timber yacht which may require new crew for the 2019 season in the Philippines.
The position is for a female waterbaby, prepared to cook and run the galley and who can also help with light yacht maintenance, no experience required.
In return we provide sailing, diving, accommodation and a chance to live on a boat for a while. Preferably for 1 to 2 months or more.
Yacht is very well founded and Skipper has over thirty years of both local and international experience. Thanks to all that inquired.
Cheers
Michael

P.S. I was a host previously in Australia. My first/oldest 8 reviews below were for when I was in Australia plus some new ones for the Philippines.

We are an animal shelter with two locations centered around the picturesque town of Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines. We have guest rooms for volunteers at the main location where you can do a variety of tasks, ranging from veterinary (primarily spay/neuter, treatments, diagnosis), kennel cleaning, dog training, dog walking, socialisation of kittens and puppies, educational campaigns at primary schools or organisations, promotion etc. While I can't vouch for our (local) staff, the founder and president is vegan (but he generally still lives in the Netherlands).

Staying and helping out at the animal shelter gives you the opportunity to meet people and experience local culture and sights that very few tourists would ever see. We're a small scale family-run organisation and our relatives will welcome you in their midst. Working with our disabled pets, like taking them to the beach in their wheelchairs, is an exhilarating experience not to be missed.

There is a wide variety of tasks, so... more inside

Hello! :)

(about human rights crimes: due to many people being afraid to travel the Philippines... in my and all volunteers experience and opinion, it is very safe and I`ve never experienced anything worrying personally - if you pay attention to the regular rules of travel. The Philippines can be wild, disorderly but not more than many other counties. And with sad things happening here and in the west, I feel very safe here and can see many many Filipinos being very caring and attentive of your personal safety.
Volcano:
Similarly me and volunteers are very safe in legazpi regarding the volcano exploding. In fact it`s rather awesome to watch apart from the sad evacuation side. You can

Ok and now...
Come and join us in Legazpi City and help us create a green eco-oasis in the middle of the city. We build with natural materials, bamboo, wood and rock and our current project involves building a second toilet as well as beautifying the hostel and houses that are already there (... more inside

Hi, my name is Jordan and my partner is Marix. We both are starting a permaculture farm in Palawan, Philippines. We both are Permaculture Design Certificate holders and we wish to implement this in our lives and share what we've learned. The farm is located on Popototan Island in Busuanga Palawan. Most work will consist of gardening, digging, restoring the fishpond and building simple structures for the farm and beach property. Our goal is to show people an alternative way of living, by reconnecting with nature and being more conscious with all our actions. We are staying in a house in coral bay which is ten minutes walk from the farm. Work is for 2-3 hours per day and 5x a week. Accomodation is free however volunteers have to pay p600 per day to share for the food costs and other household supplies. We serve only nutritious vegetarian and vegan food but you are welcome to bring your own if you wish to eat meat or catch fish just off the terrace of the house. We are living off grid ... more inside

I'm Rick from Australia and in February 2016 I opened a Backpackers hostel situated in the centre of El Nido town, short walk from bus station and quick walk from ferry terminal. It's central location has the bakery, pharmacies, local restaurants, markets and shops on the doorstep. We organise boats tours, island camping, motorbike hire, scuba diving and transportation.

The fan rooms have double and single bunk beds at budget prices. You can relax in hammocks with beautiful mountain scenery or take a short walk to the nearest beach.

We are currently looking for help with general housekeeping, data entry, scanning/printing, promotions, possibly cooking for staff, etc. We are also looking for trades people who can do electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance.

Please send let us know what skills you have and what dates you will be in El Nido

Dear friends. We have a beach house in the amazing Nacpan Twin Beach where we operated a bar , restaurant and tour service and lived the dream for a few years. When our kids reached school age we moved back to Australia and the place has fallen into disrepair. We've decided to convert it to an AirBNB and can offer free accommodation in this beach paradise to the right person who wants to stay a few months, clean up the place and coordinate local workers etc to help you. Ideally the minimum stay would be 2 months and the person would have some building experience . The house is running on solar power at the moment. The mains power cable connected but not in use. Water is also connected and there is a western style shower and toilet. The house is very run down and the first week or so might be a challenge. Its a nice community of locals and long term expats there and I have some friends who will assist with getting you set up in the house. The right person could enjoy a degree of ind... more inside
