HELP OUT AT THE MOST COMFY INDEPENDENT MOVIE THEATER IN PHNOM PENH.

Are you available for a minimum of 2 weeks? Great! We'd love it if you can stay longer :-)
(Sorry, we don't recommend contacting us if you are available for less than 2 weeks)

(Please know we do not accept applications for over 2 months from now (as most volunteers that we scheduled in very far ahead mostly end up in last-minute cancellations, making us go boo-ho).)

Now let's introduce you to the fun stuff!

Our community movie theater in Phnom Penh is where local expatriates and visiting tourists escape from the bustling city, the heat or rain and to enjoy the blockbusters, film festival winners and documentaries on the big screen with air conditioned awesomeness. While sitting on comfy rattan sofas or lying on comfy cushions.

Our non-profit private school is based in Kratie province and is about 10 minutes by bicycle from The Mekong River and the town.

In the public schools of Kratie, students donít learn much English, or computer skills and there are only a few places which provide English lessons in the area.

In Cambodia the economy is mainly based on tourism and agriculture, so our goal is to help the students learn a new language that can make it easier for them to find a better job and have a better life in their future. We are looking for volunteers to teach English in the Kratie area.
You do not need to have teaching experience, but you do need to be able to plan and teach your own class within our curriculum. There is a qualified teacher on site to help you with this.

In the 1970s, Cambodiaís brutal Khmer Rogue regime contributed to the mass extermination of two million people including intellectuals, thereby completely destroying education in the country. The country was left with nothing. Over time, Cambodia has been slowly developing again. Presently, it seems everything is back to normal, and a large number of schools have opened and continue to open.

Unfortunately, many of them do not provide appropriate progression to gain a better start in life for certain children. Problems mainly involve all disabled children, such as children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). These children are very sensitive, shy, and struggle in other areas, especially the ability to communicate and relate to others. However, they also have a unique set of skills, so they sometimes test in the average or above average range.

Additionally, children with intellectual disabilities have less ability than normal children of their age and often struggle in a regula... more inside
