I run private English school for children aged between 10 and 19 years old in a small city in West Sumatra. My goal as the principal of the school is to provide youth from my region with the English skills required to communicate better in the modern world, and therefore provide them with better opportunities in their lives.

I would like to welcome any fluent English speakers under the age of thirty to come assist my teachers in the classroom. You would help immensely by having simple conversations with the students and give them a real English speaking experience inside or outside the classroom.

All the students are very welcoming and curious about my visitors and I am certain that you will have a great experience while interacting with them. You can expect answering all their curious questions, pose for pictures and be invited for lunches, snacks and dinners.

Classes in my school run from 2pm to 6pm and mostly consist of two lessons/classrooms per day. I would also like ... more inside

"Join with me to do camping with the naturalist life concept on Sawa Island and help me clean the beach from plastic waste"

Hi my name is Alee. I am a social and environmental activist on Tomia Island, Wakatobi. Now I am trying to get out and see the state of the small islands around Tomia Island and even I stay for a few weeks just to clean the plastic trash scattered along the coast and it turns out that Sawa Island is a place that is perfect for me. I am also sure that you will like it when you are on this island.

# About Sawa Island:
Sawa Island is one of the small islands in front of Tomia Island, Wakatobi, Indonesia. This island is a land of sand which is only covered by coconut trees and several other sand plants. "Help teach English to our community and let's join to learn about Tomia Island culture in Wakatobi, Indonesia"

# About me:
Hi. My name is Al (30 YO). I studied at the Yogyakarta Art Institute - Indonesia for 4 years with a major in Graphic Design. As long as I am in Yogyakarta, there is a lot of experience that I have gotten from getting involved in several arts and education communities, which made me stay and stay in Yogyakarta for 10 years.

When I returned to my place (Tomia Island) I began to think of creating a community for children and adults in terms of art and education as well. For now, what I'm starting to develop is the "Mari Mabook Camp" which involves children from 8 years to 12 years old. I developed the Mari Mabook Camp based on the experience I had while in Yogyakarta. I really like to be friends with anyone and very open to anyone. I have a hobby that might be the same as you like; Camping, Hiking, Snorkeling, Playing guitar and Reading books.

I just started a really budget English course for everyone (the rich and especially the poor) at my home in Sungai Penuh, Jambi, Indonesia. It's about 8 hours from Padang, West Sumatera. My mission is to make the students feel free of worrying about the cost because my course's cost is very cheap. I also set some students totally free from paying the tuition since I know that they can't even afford that cheap price. My visions? I have a looooot of visions ahead for this English Home and when you're here, I'll tell you everything of course if you don't mind listening to those visions:)

We want to focus on speaking class since we realize that in Indonesia, there are a lot of people who good at Grammar but can't speak English at all! That's why we want to build the students' confidence first instead of learning too much grammar without any bravery to speak up. We build a class of fun, natural and homey to make students not afraid of learning anymore. We really need your help, volunt... more inside

This programme was created in 2010 by a small group of English teachers who have been working for several years alongside Native Speakers. The reason that we created this programme is to help the local students and give them the opportunity to learn English with English speaking-people. Cianjur is a non-touristy place with few travellers, so meeting english-speaking people is particularly valued here.
In 2013, our programme was recommended by The Lonely Planet Guide Book. The programme was founded by five locals; the team are enthusiastic and passionate about improving the local student’s English.
The team:
Irwan Kumis, who is fluent in English, has been teaching primary school English for 9 years, as well as working for several years as a guide for Western travellers. He previously worked for a German NGO, Forder-und Interessengemeinschaft, as a volunteer in post-Tsunami Reconstruction and Development on Sabang–Weh Island–Aceh. He studied Economics at a University in Cianjur a... more inside
