Hello everyone!!!!
Namaste!
I live here at an organic farm with Ganesh, my 96-year-old father who passed away in the most peaceful and beautiful way. Sarita, my wife of 50 years and Prakrity (Nature), my 15-year-old daughter.
We started this farm in 1991 with the dream of being organic and self-sustainable. We are a nonprofitable organization.
We have long since achieved that dream and now spread our knowledge and love to people all over the world! I have also been a trekking guide for over 25 years and continue to take trekkers to touristic and non-touristic locations (my favorite!). Plus now we have sweat lodge. Everyday, I dedicate myself to practicing yoga, barefoot jungle jogging and/or sacred Chandi chanting every day, while I am not helping train volunteers in organic farming or tending to the farm myself.

We were recently affected by the earthquakes and are accepting donations to help rebuild. See below an amazing video made by a volunteer here!

If you are interested to teach and help in Government school and gain a memorable experience in your life you are most welcome. Our school is situated in the heart of Kathmandu and founded in 1974. There is an ECD class for Ages 3-5 and then the school teaches ages 6-17 with the running with 200 students. Private schools are more popular compared to the government school in KATHMANDU. However they usually are profit oriented and most of the families can’t afford the cost of education in private schools. Our school is an affordable and easily accessible government school and would appreciate any help volunteers can give to improve the quality of education through their unique contributions. Majority of students in this are from working lower class who earn their livelihood thru daily wages workers in constructions, working as maid at home, could be benefitted from foreign volunteers, helping them ideas with the English language skills. Situated on the hillside overlooking the picturesque Shyankhudi valley and the majestic Begnas Tal lake, we are certainly not your ordinary,run-of-the-mill farm.

The farm was started 30 years ago (1987 AD) by my parents, Surya Mohan Bastola and Sita Devi Bastola, and has now become a thriving oasis of plant and animal life. Overall, there are more than 500 species of plants that have been deemed useful to humans and/or animals. These are mostly made up of vegetables, fruit trees, and medicinal plants. Everything at the farm is 100% organically grown, without the use of any chemical pesticides, fertilizers, fungicides, etc.

All the fruits and vegetables that are eaten on a daily basis come straight from our very own soil (besides the odd addition from neighbours` farms). We also receive fresh milk daily from our two family buffaloes. On special occasions, we may catch some fish from one of our ponds. The diversity and richness of plant life here makes our home the perfect abod... more inside

Namaste!

We welcome you to join our family of students and teachers living at a Buddhist School/Monastery in a national park. We are located just 10 ten km from Kathmandu in a very peaceful forest with no traffic sounds, just birds chirping! We have 28 kids between the ages of 7 and 18 years old, all of whom live and study here. With the intention to help underprivileged children and to provide modern and Buddhist education, we serve kids from very poor areas, some without parents, and/or families struggling to survive so the school is a special place for them because it provides them with a family and an opportunity for a better future. Our students are very loving and kind to volunteers so you will very quickly be absorbed into our big family!

We do not have any external financial support which we need to feed the kids and pay for teachers, so we must get creative in order to sustain our special school. The biggest help would be through teaching the kids but contributions in... more inside
