Situated on the hillside overlooking the picturesque Shyankhudi valley and the majestic Begnas Tal lake, we are certainly not your ordinary,run-of-the-mill farm.

The farm was started 30 years ago (1987 AD) by my parents, Surya Mohan Bastola and Sita Devi Bastola, and has now become a thriving oasis of plant and animal life.†Overall, there are more than†500 species of plants that have been deemed useful to humans and/or animals. These are mostly made up of vegetables, fruit trees, and medicinal plants. Everything at the farm is†100% organically grown, without the use of any chemical pesticides, fertilizers, fungicides, etc.

All the fruits and vegetables that are eaten on a daily basis come straight from our very own soil (besides the odd addition from neighbours` farms). We also receive fresh milk daily from our two family buffaloes. On special occasions, we may catch some fish from one of our ponds. The diversity and richness of plant life here makes our home the perfect abod... more inside

**We currently have vacancies for August 2018 onwards

Namaste!

We invite travelers to come and experience Nepal in a mountain farming community. We run a primary school in the rural community of Saping, which is 3 hours bus-ride plus a 2 hour walk from Kathmandu. This is a beautiful area of Nepal with mountain views and rice-terraces.

The school offers free education to students, and has a special focus on educating children from poor families; some of our students walk 2 hours a day just to get to and from school. Our village was badly impacted by the earthquake; around 70% of our students are still living in temporary shelters.

VOLUNTEER ROLES

We`re primarily looking for volunteers who are willing to teach, however volunteers can also do some farming, cooking, or maintenance work.

Our volunteers teach the standard curriculum of English, maths, health, social studies and science - usually to the grade 4 or 5 class. You can also teach art, music, sport, child righ... more inside

Hello everyone!!!!
Namaste!
I live here at an organic farm with Ganesh, my 96-year-old father who passed away in the most peaceful and beautiful way. Sarita, my wife of 50 years and Prakrity (Nature), my 15-year-old daughter.
We started this farm in 1991 with the dream of being organic and self-sustainable. We are a nonprofitable organization.
We have long since achieved that dream and now spread our knowledge and love to people all over the world! I have also been a trekking guide for over 25 years and continue to take trekkers to touristic and non-touristic locations (my favorite!). Plus now we have sweat lodge. Everyday, I dedicate myself to practicing yoga, barefoot jungle jogging and/or sacred Chandi chanting every day, while I am not helping train volunteers in organic farming or tending to the farm myself.

We were recently affected by the earthquakes and are accepting donations to help rebuild. See below an amazing video made by a volunteer here!

If you are interested in learning about Nepalese cultures, cuisines, traditions and festivals, then a homestay is the best way to see the real Nepal. By doing this you will be introduced to a plethora of brand new experiences in an authentic Nepalese environment; rich with culture. An additional plus will be the warm and welcoming Nepalese hospitality at its best within our home.

We have three members in our family: me (Shanker), my mother and our daughter (Chun Chun) who is 17 years old. My brother Pradeep runs a small money exchange office in Thamel, which is about a 20 minutes direct walk from our home. Our home is located in a very safe and peaceful residential area called Gongabu Town Planning, Gongabu. We belong to the Newar ethnic group, who are the indigenous people of Kathmandu Valley. Newari culture is historically rich and possesses many unique traditions and rituals; one of which includes marrying our daughters to the bel-tree fruit and the Sun. Namaste everybody!

My family and I welcome you to our home in the village of Changu Narayan. Changu is located about 20 km from Kathmandu and where I have grown up and spent my life with my wife Menuka. We have three children who are all getting in to work, as well as our granddaughter who lives with us.

We want people to stay with us so they can experience the village life of Nepal. We have cows, goats, dogs and other animals in the village. Here you are considered a member of our family. We encourage you to get to know us and spend time with us! The longer you stay the closer we become.

Evolving to our comments I have to tell you that its not easy for me to except help. In our culture its not nice to tell people what to do, so a former volunteer helped me and created a book with insight information and listings of all projects.
