Rural and scenic. Plenty to do and see.
We are farming with several pieces of land within 15km of each other. We have dairy farms, beef farm and we breed and compete horses. Currently we have plenty of horses that need riding. In April and August we will have cows calving - come and enjoy the joy of birth and raising calves. From August onwards there will be foals being born too.
We are very busy both on the farm and with horses and horse events. Helping opportunities range from housework, gardening, lawns, farming tasks, to the chance for confident horse people to get involved with our horses.
We are close to Waipoua Forest, Trounsen Kauri Park and the west coast beach. BUT we are 12km from the closest shop and 40km from the town of Dargaville.
A drivers license would be an asset.

Our names are Rick and Lindy , and we are a couple in our 50`s and 60`s living on a 125 acre lifestyle block in the Hokianga, where we raise a small herd of Scottish Highland Cattle.

We are passionate about preserving our environment and have placed a large portion of our bush-clad property under a QE2 Trust covenant.
We are not organic but we do try to use sprays and other chemicals as little as possible.

We aim to be as self-sufficient as we can for fruit and vegetables and have established large vegetable gardens and an orchard. We used to milk a cow and produce our own butter and cheese, but our cow has died and we have no replacement yet. We are not vegetarian, nor do we eat totally organic produce (other than what we produce ourselves).
We eat mainly beef as we grow this ourselves. We like to eat altogether with any helpers, so if you have any special dietary requirements (e.g. no dairy, etc) PLEASE let us know in advance so we can tell you whether we can cater to you... more inside

We are taking on helpers all year.
The helpers are asked to help four hours for every night they are staying with us. Some of our helpers will have the opportunity to come with us on Saturdays to the markets and help us sell our produce and for this you will get a day off during the week.

We live on a 4ha orchard on which we are growing plums, strawberries, garlic, feijoas and also vegetables for the local market. So our helpers are assisting us mainly with weeding, picking and pruning.

We are working mainly outside, sometimes it`s wet and it is important that you can bring wet weather gear. We will provide gumboots and gloves if needed. The work is in general quiet easy but can also be physical, so we need people who don`t mind getting their hands dirty. We are quiet happy to put your washing through our machine with no charge.

Vegetarians are welcome here but sorry no vegans. We will supply you with all basic things you need for your breakfast, lunch or dinner. A... more inside

We are looking for a helper starting from 7th or 8th July. Do you want a Helpx position in the Bay of Islands?

We are seeking a helper for work around our popular B&B set in 2 acres of gardens. We are countryside located but only minutes away from many attractions and in the heart of The Bay of Islands.

Helpers would in the main be used on this occasion for gardening and maintenance work around the house. The position will suit an easy going, English speaker who is willing to learn, has no dietary limitations, and willing to join in with the hosts. Must also be an animal lover. In view of the work to be undertaken would better suit a male.

We can pick you up from the local bus stop but for exploring the area in your own time your own transport will be appropriate, there is no local public transport anywhere in Northland. 4 1/2 hours of work in exchange for accommodation and joining the hosts for 3 meals a day.

You will be accommodated in one of our guest rooms ... more inside

Hi, Steve and Joanne here.

We live on a pretty quiet 7.3 acre lifestyle block in Ruatangata, about 25 minutes north of Whangarei.

We need lots of odd jobs doing, repairs, renovations and improvements to the house, we have seting up a proper free range egg farm on our lifestyle block, so there's about 200 chooks (far, far away from the house) along with 2 goats, a fat lazy cat, rabbits, baby kitten, 7 sheep, 3 cows, pointless ducks, 3 Kune kune pigd and our small two year old daughter.

It's just beside a kiwi reserve so you can sometimes hear them at night. No noise pollution and views of the stars are pretty amazing on clear nights.

We are pretty easy going, and just looking for some help really. We are a working farm, and we are trying our best to make things great, but this house is definitely a work in progress, so things can sometimes be a bit chaotic, a bit messy and suits people who get stuck in, and up for a little bit of rough and ready..

It will hopefu... more inside

We are a busy farming family of 4 (kids are 7and9), living about 15 minutes out of Hikurangi towards the coast.
Its a 15 minutes drive to the next beaches and to the Tutukaka coast. About 40 minutes to Whangarei.
The Bay of Islands is only a 45 minutes drive.
There is NO public transport out our way.

We are looking for a person to help with the kids and in and around the house. Ideal would be somebody that could stay 1 to 2 months but shorter stays might work too.
We are looking for a fexible person that enjoys spending time with kids and fits well into a family setting. Our kids love having people around, playing games, indoor and outdoor.
