We have 1000 mandarin trees and a large vegetable garden which is under development. We also have an acre that hasn't been developed at all yet. We have hens, geese, ducks 2 dogs and a cat. We are still very much in the planning and development stage with lots of digging, weeding and planting to be done but our aim is that in the next year or so that we will be able to be self sufficient with our vegetables. We eat a predominantly plant based diet :) We are looking for a single person to help me, Tania, with pruning the Mandarin trees and weeding the garden. It would be for 5 days max only - Sat to Weds. 4 hours work a day for board, breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you are interested please contact me asap
We are only a few kms from the town and have 2 bikes that can be used. Gisborne has lovely beaches and great surfing. Eastwoodhill and Rerefalls are lovely attractions to visit.

We are a married couple in our mid thirties with three young children (Emma who is 6 and Ben who is 4 years old and Angus is two years old ) on a family sheep and beef farm, we also grow asparagus in the spring which we take to the local farmers market each Saturday. The location of the farm is approximately 40 minutes from Gisborne.

We are looking for keen and energetic people to come and stay and be a part of our family and partake in our busy daily lives. This would involve spending time with our children, helping around and in the house and garden, getting out and participating on the farm and the asparagus patch.
At this time of year (August through to December) our main requirement from helpers is to help with children, a bit of gardening, asparagus picking and bunching, farmwork and housework.
We are hoping to have a combination of short term and longterm help x helpers from the end of august onward and for the right person / couple with the right work ethic we are willi... more inside

Our little farm faces Hikurangi, the sacred mountain of the Ngati Porou people. Each new day, it is the first land in Aotearoa to feel the sun's rays.

We are developing a sustainable farming system, and working toward self-sufficiency - establishing vegetable gardens and fruit trees, plantings to feed birds, bees and butterflies. We try to use indigenous remedies wherever possible. We have established covenants to protect and enhance our ngahere (native bush). Musicians are especially welcome.

"WOOFING ON THE EDGE OF THE EARTH"

This is a unique chance to live and work on one of the most eastern farms of the world.

Definitely a Must-Do for any kind of traveler.

My variety of things to do is big, like help running a campground as well as the farms, or with a bit of leisure time you can go fishing, or walk along the beach, or walk up the hill to see old Maori Pa sites.

On the farm, we feed and herd the animals, drive the quad and mower, have a lot of other experiences and cook if you like.

So it is everything except boring woofing on the edge of the earth.

Only one requirement is necessary, I expect you to bring a serious working attitude along. Everything else I am keen to teach you.

You will live with me on the farm, enjoying my tasty food and learning basic Maori words.

The best thing, you see THE FIRST SUNRISE IN THE WORLD for FREE while you are staying here.

So come and experience the farm feeling for a few days or weeks or longer if y... more inside

We are a family of five who live on 3 hectare lifestyle block close to Tolaga Bay - a beautiful beach with a long wharf about 45 minutes north of Gisborne. We are about 2 mins drive from the township of Tolaga Bay, or a 10 minute walk.

We have an orchard of avocados, oranges and mandarins, tamarillos and gardens surrounding the main house.

Accommodation is a self contained studio about 100m from the house with a small separate kitchen, shower and toilet. There is currently wifi in and around the house - but doesnt quite reach to the studio.

We would like help either:
-renovate the inside the self contained studio e.g build, sand, prepare and paint the walls, deck and other light renovations, or
- outside to weed, mulch, prune, clean up, plant trees, mow lawns, weedeat and general gardening, repair fences etc.

Coming to stay means eating avocados every day and squeezing yourself some fresh orange juice for breakfast.
