We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned six years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 3 and 6) and a friendly dog. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area.
People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Because we are still building our home, accommodation and facilities are limited. H... more inside

Our large waterfront property is about 16km from Russell in Clendon Cove. It is flat with fruit and olive trees. Although tidal it is possible to kayak from the property and fish from nearby rocks. We have basic kayaks that you may use.

Accommodation would be in a converted artist studio when not booked for Airbnb. You can do your own cooking.

We are seeking help with outdoor work, mainly gardening and grounds clearing, pruning when appropriate, mangrove clearing and possibly splitting firewood.
We reckon on an average of 3.5 to 4 hours a day, some meals provided and are flexible as to how this is achieved.

We live in Waipapa/Kerikeri on a rural, 4ha life-style property. We have cows, ducks, chickens and a large vegetable garden. There is separate 2 bedroom accommodation for guests.

The intercity bus stops in Kerikeri. Our property is 5km from State Highway 10. We will collect you from Kerikeri if necessary.

Help needed is varied: gardening, pruning trees, drain clearing, room painting and repair, building painting and repair, weed control, farm maintenance, fencing, chopping wood.
In return we will provide free accommodation and meals.

Most of our food comes off the property and we aim to be as sustainable as possible.

Kia ora helpers!
My beautiful private home is in the middle of Honeymoon Valley, surrounded by native bush - remote and quiet. We built this house from local clay and we created roof gardens. Located 20 min drive from Taipa, Doubtless Bay, 330 km North of Auckland. The subtropical Far North of NZ is the 'birthplace' of New Zealand/Aotearoa, as we know it today and has significant historic sights and stories.

I am part of the Honeymoon Valley land-care group. We protect native forest, birds, lizards and insects by trapping predators and eradicating invasive weeds. No dogs, no cats. You need to be independent and have some work/life experience. I have a day job at our local school, but afternoons and weekends we will spend time together. You also can go sightseeing any day during the week.

I need help with landscaping (mowing, brush-cutting, earth work), chopping fire wood, making compost, gardening, renovating (fixing things, basic carpentry, painting), sewing, cleaning, main... more inside

I am taking on helpers all year round.
The helpers are asked to help four hours for every night they are staying here. I am very flexible with this schedule if you want a day off during the week. Minimum stay is one week.

I live on a 4ha orchard on which I am growing plums, garlic, feijoas and some vegetables. So the helpers are assisting mainly with weeding, picking, pruning.

The work is mainly outside, sometimes it`s wet and it is important that you can bring wet weather gear. I will provide gumboots and gloves if needed. The work is in general quiet easy but can also be physical, so I need people that don`t mind getting their hands dirty. The tasks vary depending on the time of year. I am quiet happy to put your washing through the washing machine with no charge.
I offer free, unlimited Wifi. There is also the opportunity to use my tools for those helpers who want to outfit their car to a camper while in New Zealand.

Vegetarians are welcome here. I will supply ... more inside

Enjoy the perfect watersports conditions and the coastal kiwi lifestyle while helping with a renovation project.

I would need a fit man to help me dig and move some dirt as well as help paint our house.

We are a family of 4 (me, my french wife and 2 kids who are 9 and 6) living in the small coastal town of Ahipara. Our house has expansive views of the ocean and is only a 1 minute walk from the golden sandy beach of "90 mile".

The world famous surf breaks of Shipwreck Bay is just around the corner! It is also a great area for water fun activities like fishing, kitesurfing, swimming, wakeboarding, spear fishing, seafood gathering, etc..

There are also a lot of things to do and places to see around from Cap Reinga to the Kari Kari peninsula if you have a car.

We are a non smoking household with no pets. We will be providing you with nutritious homemade meals (and local seafood) as well as your own motorhome accomodation (double bed) with sea views and watersports toys... more inside
