Welcome
We are a couple in our early to mid 50's who moved to Greymouth on the mighty West Coast for a lifestyle change. We have a 4 bedroom 4 bathroom house. We call it "Dated but Homely" It has wonderful views but it is in need of modernising. We would like to reclad it in time, but also repaint inside and outside.
We are a homestay. We can't offer paid employment but happy if you need a place to stay for a few days or a week and just help out for a few hours a day around the bouse
We enjoy hosting and entertaining.
Would love to meet nationalities from all over the world. We are after people who can build, labour, paint etc. If you decide to come and visit you will have your own bedroom and bathroom. We are on a small bush section so if you like gardening we have a simple area we would like to upgrade.
We would also lik... more inside

I do get annoyed if you leave my tools in the rain and go back to bed!! as a recent helper discovered we have an organic lifestyle property 20 km (The map her puts us in town but we are 20km's from town) inland from Hokitika. We are continuing to develop the property and are planting natives trees and currently building another dwelling. We are bordered by a river that provides fantastic swimming and kayaking opportunities and has a rustic 3 hole golf course. We are happy to accommodate people who have a great attitude, common sense and are generally respectful and openminded. We are looking for people to help with building a tiny house, home hydroelectric waterwheel landscaping, mechanical, electrical and other general lifestyle block activities.2 cats 4 chickens and a puppy and eels Large pond with 11x7m island with cooking fire for safe outdoor cooking

We have a small remote house on a family run hereford cattle farm, situated just outside Bruce Bay in the Mahitahi valley.
living with us is a couple of cats , a dog named Gin, the good girl on the kayak, as well as a goat called Fin.
We are generally looking for help with gardening, painting and cleaning around the house. but there` always heaps of farmwork to be done! Which could include horse riding at times.

Theres everything to do for the outdoor person; fishing, hunting, kayaking(got those),diving, tramping, horseriding, hillclimbing etc. is in our backyard.
We would like people to stay at least 2 weeks to get to know our area.
I also have a contracting business with diggers and trucks, so any experience with machinery would be a bonus!

HI at present we have a full house for the foreseeable future due to lock down. Because we are in a remote area with no shop's we can only provide for a few people, we have 4 backpackers as of today and this will stretch our supplies in... more inside

Just a peaceful place that needs some t.l.c. every once and a while, like gardening, creating and cleaning, depending on the weather. Were a couple, with a 22 year old, and we love to hear about what's happening in the world, from different perspectives.. Were not traveling at present, so this is the next best thing.... having someone in our home, helping, sharing and learning. . ..
I love dancing, music, and arts which is included in our home environment. Riding motor bikes, or a little game of table tennis, creating trails, riding on the bicycle trails, hiking, & watching sun sets. Never boring around here for me, I am in the process of becoming more self sufficient, planted 20 trees. Creating new gardens, wanting to create a medicinal garden this year.
The more alive our food is the better, for all of us ~_0
If you would like to help me learn about life, I would like to hear from you.

We are living on a sheep, deer and beef farm not far from the small town of Ahaura. We look out to the bush and mountains.

The next space is arriving around end of May due to Corona virus we are not wanting to host for a little while.

The rest of 2020 we are flexible on dates.
We have working 5 farm dogs and 1 puppy born in December. Many helpers fall in love with Ted a beardie/huntaway breed of dog. He is always getting pats and is our most photographed pet.

We live on a sheep and deer farm about 30 minute drive to Greymouth. We live around 9kilometres from Ahaura town. Loads of stunning walks, caving, biking and adventure to be had.

One of my biggest enjoyments is showing others what we cook for dinner and then sitting down and eating as a family. We enjoy sharing stories and laughs over a cup of tea. We can explain a few aspects of farming if you are interested in knowing more. We like talking while having a cup of tea. We have 27 great reviews of past he... more inside

But not necessary
We're a open minded family that welcomes cultures of all kind and are interested to hear about you and your lifestyle and your time here in NZ
Your accommodationt is a small room with a queen bed in the house pretty basic and not flash but is cosy, you are absolutely welcome to come and make yourself at home with us in living area or keep to yourself in your own space and go out and about exploring the area, the choice is yours and ... more inside

I live on a 40 hectare property between Greymouth and Hokitika (most of which is native forest) with a view over the Taramakau river. The land and house need ongoing maintenance including gardening, gathering firewood, window cleaning, painting, and clearing tracks.
I also have some sheep, and occasionally need help with managing them.
My preference is someone (or couple)who has been raised in the countryside, is strong, and capable with machinery. An international drivers licence would be a bonus. I like people who work hard, and are capable of doing so without supervision. At the moment I am clearing firewood from a track through our forest, stacking split wood and working around my garden area and tunnelhouse...
I may need help with some cooking from time to time. My children are grown up, and not living at home...

In return for 4 hours work for every night you stay, I look after you well. The food is good wholesome farm cooking. (Please note that I do not cater for veg... more inside
