Trying to achieve a self susstainable organic set up, free range chickens, ducks and live stock, organic vegetables and orchard and I only eat food that I know where its come from and that includes only home kill meats (which are the best anyway) that have lived an awesome natural life. The house backs onto the Waiau River, the property requires help in maintenance and up keep. Very cruzy lifestyle and I like to have fun whilst doing tasks (its not really work) and then show off and explore the surrounding area of Southland and go hunting, fishing, surfing, kayaking, diving etc. I am always looking for helpers and if had to choose I prefer solo helpers over couples (no offence couples it`s just less shit for me to clean, sort out and multi task) so hit me up!?!

Hello, my name is Andy, I have a working livestock farm as well as a Campground and a Horse trekking and Quad biking Business that I run with my daughter Emma. She has grown up around horses all her life and is in charge of the horses and trains/works them with Natural horsemanship methods.

Apart from the horses there is also sheep and cattle on our farm along with Chickens, ducks, 2 dogs and a cat called Xena.

Our farm is located approximately 5km from the Te Anau township and 2hrs drive from the adventure capital of New Zealand, Queenstown. As well as the mysterious wonderland of Milford Sound. We are surrounded by the beautiful fiords and mountains which have greats walks e.g. The Kepler Track, The Routeburn Track and the Milford Track. We are more than happy to help you experience these magical places.

We are an easy going family and are pretty flexible. We do expect helpers to be respectful of our home, be polite, courteous, clean and tidy and have good manners.

This property is 10 acres with a large character homestead (circa 1929), which was once part of the historic Lynwood Station. The home has many period features, including wood panel wardrobes, bay windows and a number of fire places and two wood burners. Outside there is one large paddock deer fenced, with a well established garden with recently planted natives, orchard, mature specimen trees, a tunnel house, chook house, pig sty and "potentially" a large vegetable garden.

The property is just 9 Km from Te Anau itself(the largest lake in the South Island and second largest in New Zealand) which is the gateway to Fiordland and the majestic Lake Manapouri. The Keplar Track is nearby with other tramps a little further away like the start of the Routeburn and Caples Greenstone tracks at the Divide. The Mavora Lakes are also not that far away, a popular camping spot in the summer. Of course we are on the main High way to Milford.

We have a small farm running Highland cattle, some milking cows for our own use, hens, pigs and ducks.
We have a moderate size tunnel house and depending on the season can be self sufficient in meat and vegetables. We are alongside the Waikaia River and during the fishing season this a great trout river.
Our home is 3 kms from the local small town and within 2 hrs to Te Anau, Dunedin, Queenstown and Invercargill.
We would welcome help in the gardens and tunnelhouse. We are willing to share our skills in animal husbandry and landcare with anyone willing to learn and encourage your help with working with the stock.
Any Trade skills would be welcomed and used. we would look for around 4-5 hours help per day. There is a wonderful DOC reserve just up the road with tracks and off road exploring around about.
Great Cellphone reception and wifi available.
We have previously had exchange students living with us and welcome the opportunities for cultural exchange.

Hello and welcome,
We are a family owned dairy farm milking around 440 cows. We will be milking some cows through the winter. We have teenagers at home and often a school exchange student. As we are also homeschoolers, there is always something happening. We try to maintain a holistic approach to farming but we are not organic. We are looking for singles or couples that can contribute to our busy farming household and can stay from one to several weeks. Over Winter there is, feeding cows, planting trees, gardening and general maintenance happening, also some housekeeping and cooking. or you could help out in the milk bottling room or packing cheese. If that sounds like you, don`t hesitate to email us or text. We would love to accommodate you. Our Dairy is a very modern well equipped rotary with a water recycling and effluent minimisation system.
We are situated around an hour from Te Anau and Manapouri areas and also Invercargill. During the summer we like water activities, ... more inside

Sorry we are not available for Helpx Hosting as currently hosting exchange students.

We live 8km North of Invercargill, in Southland, and are currently doing up parts of our large, older, house, gardens and just about the whole property over time.

We would love help from anyone who can help with painting, sanding, stripping wallpaper, Tiling, building, (inside or out) pulling up carpet or general small farm work like weed spraying, firewood, gardening, digging ditches, and always gathering horse poo, etc etc.

Right now we have a hallway that needs wallpaper stripped before being skim-coated and firewood to be cut, split and stacked.

We are flexible with work hours/days but would expect it to average at 4-5hrs per day per person, in return for accommodation and meals.

Depending on your travel wishes and length of stay you might prefer to work a couple of full days so you can have full days off to see all that Southland has to offer, or maybe base yourself here to vi... more inside
