Hello!
This is Ken,
I'm a mature aged Christian home owner, with over (20) years experience hosting students from many countries. This experience gives me the ability to help anyone who wishes to learn or improve their conversational English.
Yes, our Aussie accent and slang can be hard for visitors to understand and yes most Aussies just talk too fast for you to understand. :)

I like to treat guests like family and enjoy the interaction of sharing life's experiences and hearing about your favorite memories. What better way to learn English, through this type of conversation? While sharing your photos, we can also practice. Or you can tell me about your holidays. There are always many fun ways to learn.

I like life to be easygoing and trouble free! My plans are always flexible. I've recently moved here and am now managing my home improvements, and also I'm developing a natural garden, and with this, hopefully a self sustaining casual life style.

Can you help me with h... more inside

I'm just back from one of the many trips I do each year, 6 months South for the Summers and 6 North for the Winters. The last trip was by car to Cooktown, for the warmth, sightseeing, working on hosts farms and finding out from them that there are not as many backpackers / helpxing , traveling or want to work on their travels....So! where are the helpers. Is it a sign of the times, backpackers now seem to be more independant, have campervans and my efforts to entice them here are drying up. Now I too will be closing down being a host and joining their ranks. The verdict is a sorry one as all 7 horses here will have to go to the knackers and be put down as there are too many to feed, just to look at. There was a beaut bush camp for the backpackers in a motorhome to themselves on 56 forested acres, where they had accommodation, food, travel to beaches and lazy days in a hammock.
In my many approaches for helpers via the helpx wanted section I promised them the world, paid work ... more inside

Availability from September - December 2019

Would you like to see how permaculture and sustainable living can be combined in an urban environment? Come and see rain water harvesting, no dig gardens, seed collecting etc, making mulch.

I have an urban permaculture property at Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, close to public transport and 4km from beaches.

My goal is to produce as much food of my own as possible by growing herbs, fruit and vegetables. I also have a couple of chickens and a compost area for improving my soil. I enjoy teaching helpers practical gardening skills and basic permaculture, organic gardening and cooking skills using garden produce. My situation is ideal for a couple who have a vehicle.

I prefer helpers with a prior knowledge / experience in gardening or permaculture or an expressed interest in learning about permaculture for their future lives. Helpers need a good eye for detail and will be able to follow detailed instructions, and ha... more inside

We are seeking two helpers from 17th Sept to 4th October to assist us (little bit flexible on dates). This is different work to usual, it's mostly meal cleanups and other cleaning jobs. A like for being around American University students is a must for this time. Helpers are welcome to join in any activities with our students if they wish (ie night walks, nature walks, swims, lectures on Australian ecology, Australian movies, campfires...) :-D

No prior experience necessary, but enthusiasm to help us out for 4hrs each day is a must. Non-smokers only. Couples or two friends preferred over solo travelers, but motivated solo travelers will be considered.

In your free time, volunteers can go swimming, enjoy many of the hikes on and around our property and meet/spend time with our animals, read or watch movies etc. Three horses on the property who enjoy trail rides (for experienced, confident but gentle riders only. Claire may be able give beginners a few lessons or some pony ride... more inside

A family home at the end of a valley surrounded by rainforest located between Port Douglas and Mossman.
Perfectly located 15mins to the closest port to visit The Great Barrier Reef.

The house is single storey and you would have your own large bedroom with bathroom overlooking our pool.
We can offer van parking space too.
We would love assistance with our garden, weeding, mulching, landscaping and vegie garden.
My husband and I would love to show you our beautiful surroundings.

Hello my dear helpers,

I am Josef and I'm in search of helpers to help me in my everyday life.

I need someone (or 2 people) who can drive me to the nice Sunshine Coast's beach (as often as the weather allows it) but also to other places, like shops, friends' house and nice tourists places.
I need as well a bit help to take care of my organic vegetables garden (that has a lot of cherry tomatoes!) and fruit trees
lus, I need help to cut and prepare the veggies for lunches and dinners. My house is located in the Glass House Mountains, close to the Australia Zoo (very famous!) and 60km north of Brisbane.
You would have your own bedroom in the house, with a comfortable double bed. Very good Wifi, but that needs to be switched off at night.

lease, understand that this helpx is not like the others. It's about spending time together and discovering each others. So there's no defined hours but of course, you'll have your free time

If you'd like to come or have any questions, ... more inside

Available 24th September to 2nd October; OR 1st to 10th October - sorry, no flexibility on those dates - couple or 2 friends - share room - I only expect maximum 3.5 hrs per day as a swap - you will see I have some good reviews, so most of my helpx folks have a great time - Happy for helpers to do 2 days in one, then have 1 full day off to go to the city or explore the area - this house is 20 mins from centre of city.
There MAY be an 'out of town' garden that needs help - but that is not certain yet - remember this is Australia so if you are squeamish re spiders or such like, please don't apply!

The 'out of town' garden is 1 hr from Brisbane city - lots of beautiful nature walks - perfect for someone who wants to get back to nature ....:)

Mature age very welcome - easy gig, very flexible - free internet; Non smoking inside - there is room to have a van or similar parked in the driveway.
