So many local beauty spots and world class attractions nearby – this small rural property located in the Huon Valley, in peaceful southern Tasmania is only 10 kms from the township of Huonville and a 30 minute drive south of Hobart. Help needed to clear a portion of the land, construct and maintain gardens and maintain the house, and perhaps some housework. Accommodation, tasty meals and friendly atmosphere offered in exchange for work, with plenty of time off to explore. Tasks could include brush cutting, some chainsawing, weeding, digging, fencing, "handyman" jobs and some painting etc so fitness and a practical approach or some experience in these tasks would be a definite advantage. Comfortable double room, shared family bathroom, free reliable wifi and private deck area to get away from it all, or join the household if you choose. You would also be welcome to join in social activities if you would like to. Main deck overlooks a large dam with resident platypus which can be see... more inside

We are a family of three, my wife and I and 16 year old son. We Live in Hobart and I travel to my studio in Cradoc most days to work. We live in an inner Hobartian suburb (3-4km from the CBD) on a 1/4 acre block in a 1930s weather board ex-farmhouse (now suburban dream house ;-). On top of work and raising a daughter and son, I'm trying to maintain a garden and house and can always use help.

We are five: Bernd and Dani, with children Gypsy Anna (2003), Leon (2013) and Felix (2017).

There are spare bikes for getting around, a few bus routes nearby and it's not a long walk into town (4km or 30-40mins) or the North Hobart cafe strip (1km or 10-20 mins).

I'm a seasoned traveller, ardent hitch-hiker and built a local games society from the ground up, now hosting competitive game meetings one a month.

I speak Esperanto, German and some French. Dani speaks English and Serbian. My daughter (1/6/2003) Gypsy Anna can yabber away in English and keep you well entertained, Leon yabbers even more with the odd Serb word for fun and Felix can't more than coo and cah and blare at the top of his little lungs yet.

HI HELPERS!!! WELCOME TO JOHN`S FUN FACTORY!!!
I live in a beautiful isolated Tasmanian mountain valley surrounded by world heritage rain forest and some VERY TALL Trees!(but not as big as the Hinoki trees at ALiShan in Taiwan!!)
Most of my property is a nature reserve, but I have a 2 Hectare orchard, berry garden and vegetable garden which are all useless! The possums, wallabies and birds eat most of these (trees included!) so we live on ice cream and chocolate biscuits instead! Please come and help us eat the biscuits so I don`t get too fat!
Oh, by the way, all the Wallabies are called "Skippy" and they don`t mind a bit of apple or banana occasionally.
I have been a host with WWOOF (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) for 12 years and I have had more than 1000(Yes!!!you read it correctly!) fabulous, lovely, wonderful volunteers stay with me. Many of them have come back for second, third…or even 10th visits!!!!!
Work can be really diverse including tree planting, mo... more inside
