Looking for

A person who seeks a true cultural exchange in England for a few months or more. Send me a message with your details if you are interested and we'll arrange to have a chat about your plans.

About Me

Hello! How are you? My name is Andy and I've been hosting people for years now both with Helpx and other organisations. I appreciate spending my time with people like me who want to learn more about this strange and wonderful planet we all occupy. I get on with people who care about others and want to learn more about themselves. I have learnt a lot from my time hosting people and my journey continues.

I am a well-educated person and believe that life is a continual learning experience, I like listening to the music of most genres, watching a good film and watching documentaries. I am interested in matters of environmental sustainability, climate change, current affairs, psychology, history, politics, philosophy and technology. I have a good sense of humour, I l... more inside

UPDATES-IMPORTANT:

*** We are looking for 1 or 2 helpers from the 21st of August

We cannot take more than 3 helpers, but here you can check when the next ones are leaving so you can apply for those positions:

*** 50% DAYS OFF: 2 of the helpers can have 50% of days off and of course we still give the money for food those days. We will explain it better in the whatsapp interview
* Ideally minimum stay 4 weeks.
* We don't plan too far ahead as all depends on how long the current helpers are staying or extending but you can try since sometimes we have last minute vacancies

+++ At the moment the help required is very easy: Basically 3-4h cleaning in the morning since we have 2 managers doing morning/evening shifts for the welcoming's apart from 3pm till 6.30pm that both managers are busy and 1 helper should be around, or when managers have days off that a helper should be around till midnight unless we are fully booked and all welcomings have been done, and of course that ... more inside

Situated in inner city vibrant hackney, this is a great location to get a feel of London.

The city centre is a 30-40 minute bus ride, or 15 minute by tube/underground. The immediate area has lots of open green spaces, diverse communities, independent cafes and a lively arts scene.

I'm looking for help around the house. An extra pair of hands. There’s some decorating, some moving stuff around, a little gardening, maybe some cooking. DIY skills are also very welcome.

Also, I’m replacing my bathroom on a budget, creatively. If you’re interested in project managing it, with my help, you’d be very welcome!

Ideally you enjoy working, have initiative and can work unsupervised.

Hours are flexible.

Would be perfect for someone independent, looking for a peaceful house, and who’d enjoy their own time and space outside of work.

In return, you get a large bright room in my home.
Generally, you self-cater, and I'll provide the dry goods (rice, legumes, beans, spices... more inside

Hi. I am looking for someone to assist me with the housekeeping, cleaning, gardening, shopping and cooking and generally helping around the house. Rarely little admin if necessary.
This will be for a 25 hours work with Sundays off and Wed and Saturday afternoon off days too.
In exchange you will get breakfast and lunch for the 6 days except Sundays. It would be good if you are hardworking and strong and a quick learner.

Prefer a minimum stay 2 weeks, thanks. Leave me your number and we can whatsapp to see if we can match. Twickenham is a great part of London and its near transport, shops and pubs restaurants etc

Sadly, we are not taking helpxers while coronavirus remains a threat. Thanks for your interest; stay safe and well.

Our 17th century farmhouse is home to Piers, Sue, three young people aged 19-23 (two are away at university), two house cats and a small, very friendly dog. Our stay length is two, occasionally three, weeks.

We offer helpxers comfortable accommodation in a prime tourist area, excellent food and a genuine welcome, in return for a fair level of physical work. It's a great opportunity for people who are keen to stay in a family environment and learn stuff about country living. We usually take helpxers one at a time; sometimes we have two people here.

Our home is within sight of the sea in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are shingle beaches to walk to and steep-sided sandy coves easily reachable by bike (although the roads are hilly!). South Devon is an enormously popular tourist destination from Easter to October, when it earns its reputation as the ... more inside

We are a couple from Cornwall who are helping to run the family's small holding. We are fun loving, hard working individuals who are enjoying implementing Permaculture designed buildings, allotment, polytunnel, animal areas, forest garden and ponds. We have a large variety of projects on the go from building sheds to 12v solar/wind systems and rocket mass heaters to apple tree guilds. We are interested in planting edible/medicinal plants and already have some planted. Our work varies widely between building, gardening, animals and holiday lets depending on what needs doing at the time! Life on a small-holding requires flexibility :)

Nick normally works full-time at home finishing and experimenting with new ideas whilst Rosie is a primary school teacher.

Nicks family also live at home, so there's always lots going on and we often eat communally :)

Accommodation is in a caravan near our home and has space for you to chill out!

Our key aim is to put projects in place a... more inside

I am looking for help in the garden for 2 weeks or up to 2 months, as soon as it is safe to do so with regard to coronavirus. Jobs include strimming and weeding, clearing, maybe making a small wildlife pond (hole already dug) and help with some garden construction or mending dry stone walls (depending on your skill set). I am looking for either 1 capable, practical helper or for a couple with energy and experience, to work together. In return I have a lovely double attic room, and adjoining study with a sofa, plus shared kitchen and living room to offer in my cottage, in a very picturesque village just south of Bath (one stop from Bath on the train), lots of lovely walks nearby. I will prepare delicious wholesome vegetarian/vegan food for you and I have a very friendly cat.
