** Welcome to our homestay **

Hello, we are Jane and Dave. We live in a small village near the town of Newark, which is between Lincoln and Nottingham in the UK. We keep bees, chickens and a lovely cat and grow fruit and vegetables in our large garden. We usually also keep pigs but didn't do so this year.

We have spaces from August onwards but because of this strange year, we want the flexibility to spend a few days away from time to time and to leave people in charge. So it will work best if we have two people who know eachother and who are not coming to learn or improve English because we may not be here for the whole of your stay.

So if you are a couple (or two friends who don't mind sharing a double bed or a mattress on the floor) and looking for a homestay please do read to the end of our profile and have a look at some of our testimonials to see if this is the place for you.

Weíve travelled a lot ourselves, so itís great to welcome people from around the world i... more inside

I am lucky enough to have a 5 acre small-holding with 3 ponds, stables , paddocks , cherry orchards and a rambling half-timbered farmhouse with a self-contained annexe on the Herefordshire Worcestershire border. It really is a magical place nestled in a natural small valley. But itís only me and itís a lot to look after

I would love to have someone to stay to help with all the strimming, weeding, painting, mending, mowing and all the other myriad tasks that need doing. In return for four hours Monday to Friday, you could live in my self-contained annexe which has its own kitchen, bathroom and studio bedroom. Iíd be happy to fill up the store cupboards and there is stuff to help yourself to from the garden.

You will need to be over 18 years old.

UPDATE July 2020:

I AM NOW LOOKING FOR HELPERS for 1 to 2 weeks starting around 18 July, AND for an important canal journey back to the home marina from Nantwich (Cheshire), following the repainting of my boat in September. This journey will be for 10 days (or longer) starting 28/29 September.

IMPORTANT NOTE re: Coronavirus / Covid-19:

The UK is beginning to relax the restrictions of the last few months as the incidence of Covid infection is gradually decreasing. We have not been allowed to use our boats since March but can do so from 04 July, including staying overnight.

Contrary to popular belief in Britain, Covid is still with us for the foreseeable future, so I am taking sensible precautions which include reasonable distancing from other canal users, disinfecting common surfaces, regular hand washing, and great care if visiting canal side pubs. I am also a Volunteer Lock Keeper on my local canal, where protection against Covid and other safety measure are strict.

Our farm is a beautiful place, where animals, birds, plants and humans all live in a natural, healthy and happy way. Our chickens, geese, ducks, guinea fowl and a turkey roam free all over the farm. We have milking goats. We have a Jersey cow with a calf and pigs. We are learning beekeeping. We grow organic vegetables and fruit and we have planted hundreds of trees. Our farm is developing in a happy organic and permaculture way. It forms the basis of our family business of writing and publishing books about using food as medicine. As a family we are firmly committed to producing natural organic food in a sustainable way. Our farm is an integral part of our business and an invaluable part of our research; the food we produce demonstrates the value of natural diet in health of humans, animals and the land. We will be happy to welcome young people who want to work with land and animals, who love our Planet and want to restore it back to health, one farm at a time.
