The Freevolution is the gift economy movement; inspiring to be the change that we need. Free workshops for permaculture, sustainability, surfing, yoga, meditation and more are the things we publicy offer in this location.

The purpose of this main branch here though is to lead the growth of the gift economy through publicity in any form. We are also living by example with zero-waste, permaculture, minimalism, self-actualisation and obviously the gift economy offerings mentioned before.

WHAT IS THE GIFT ECONOMY?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A true gift economy is when we not exchange goods and services, but instead give them away without expectation of return. You can find it in healthy families, friendships, volunteers, tribes and communities and we now bring it to a global scale. In the transition that’s financed on each members own behalf, but once the gift economy grows and enough people join the chain, you’ll be able to get things for free as well, minimising your expense... more inside

Help with natural building work on off-grid eco-project in the mountains of central Portugal!

*UPDATE*

*At the moment we are mostly concentrating on construction work, using some natural building techniques, like cobbing (using clay, sand, straw and water), lime plastering, rammed earth, sourcing materials from the land, from nearby or recycling used materials. We are using cement when necessary. This can be physically demanding work, but rewarding for people who are interested in developing skills and experience in this area. Current volunteer accommodation is in tents, which can be provided*

Early days on an ecological project to create a working model of accessible sustainability in the mountains of central Portugal. The evolving concept is to experiment with, develop and share techniques of natural building, regenerative agriculture and healthy living. This may include aspects of sustainable/alternative energy production, food production, passive solar energy, food f... more inside

Hello everyone. So, explanation time: On the 26th of February, I embarked on an adventure which change the course of my life forever, I had a one way ticket and flew to Portugal. Now I am still here, working on a family farm/animal rescue. This has set a precedent in to my life which let me see what I can do to change the world and let me do it too.

On this adventure I am doing everything I wished to do from; caring for animals (horses especially) to building raised planters. Here I can still practice all my hobbies ranging from pottery to archery (I am far from skilled but it's an interest) to musical instruments.

With being as busy as I am, I have now created this page to show everyone how easy it is to change your life. Before I came I was depressed and stressed, now feel as though I am full of life and ecstatic!

I will be posting any and all updates that I can, I only wish to encourage people to change themselves for the better (I am not saying what I am doing is b... more inside

Small organic farm with animals. We have a luxury caravan for helpers to stay in(it has an out side bathroom and kitchen area as well as the ones in the caravan. We require person/persons to help run our small farm and duties would be planting, weeding, watering, helping construct animal shelters and feeding of animals. Occasionally looking after the farm over night so we can have a break. Must be dog friendly!!!!!!This is a working farm and as such the proper working cloths and footwear(boots)are essential. In the past helpers who turned up with just flipflops made it clear they were not here to help but to try and have a free holiday.We are not a campsite(FREE) for travelers.Genuine helpers are always welcome. We expect you to pay for yourself on days out although we do provide three good meals a day with drinks when you are on our farm. We have had people who come with no money and expect us to keep them even on their days away from the farm.(we are not your parents)Anyone not s... more inside

****STRAW BALE BUILDING PROJECT****

I live below the Gardunha mountains on a small organic quinta with olive trees and woodland. We're currently building a house on the footprint of an old brick barn. The building is part natural build, using earth plaster over straw bales, cob, cordwood etc.

So far the frame is up, the roof is on and the stem walls for the bales and cob are in place. I'm now looking for willing people who want to get stuck into the next stages with me and learn some building skills. This is not a course or a workshop, but there will be regular elements of teaching and guidance from experienced natural building teacher Barbara de Nova Leite. This is an opportunity to get hands-on natural build experience in a fun, relaxed environment without the expense of a course or workshop, and for me...I get the help that I need to move the build forward.

The next stages will involve a mix of elements including laying a concrete floor, making wooden frames for the bale... more inside
