July 152018: My home is on a quiet street in the tiny town of Victoria Harbour, (which is part of Tay Township) Ontario. It is a short walk to the water (0.6km to Georgian Bay), and the grocery store, post office, library, pharmacy and a restaurant are about the same distance... But it is a short drive to an endless variety of things to do (about $18.00 for taxi to midland / 1 hour bike ride).
I am offering a room in my house for a home stay. My guest room is also my arts and crafts supply room and has a double bed, so I can accommodate a single person or couple that likes to be cozy - the bathroom is shared. I do not have a required stay length. You are welcome to use everything in the house but you will be responsible for your own food and meals. In exchange for accommodation, I am hoping for about 2 hours of your time at day, * the priority is cleaning the house but other chores include walking the dog and feed/water chickens, water garden.
I love to spend my time out in the ve... more inside

Hey everybody
My name is Josef Theiler and this is Theiler farm. We milk 70 cows, and 250 goats twice a day, 365 days a year and work about 400 acres. There is always plenty of work to do, from feeding the calves and cows to bedding, maintenance, tidying up,housework, yardwork, tractor driving, carpentry and mechanics. I have a passion for inventing things and automation, with a well equipped ( though somewhat disorganized )workshop. The work arrangements are pretty flexible, I don`t like to count hours, so usually we work when there is work but we also try to make time for some fun. During the summer months we go to local fairs and events, the occasional boat ride or water skiing, and there are always beers in the fridge. You will get to see what farming is really like. I am willing to teach you whatever you`d like to learn, if you put in a good effort. Special preference given to anyone with a trade, mechanics, builders, plumbers etc, there is always something to do with Possibi... more inside

So, no pics of snow blowing after a monster storm, no pics of maple syrup production, of the vegetable garden, of the many flower beds to be kept, of the wide expanse of lawns to mow, of weed whacking, forest management and maintenance, the portable saw-mill, the summer cottage, rhubarb chutney processing, the asparagus bed, the apple harvest, and no pics of the fitness room, trampoline or the five workshops.
WHAT HELPX MEANS TO ME: Giving HelpXers a chance to be creative, inventive, resourceful and independent, given access to the extensive machinery and equipment that is available. Gardening, forestry
We live in a small cottage on a friendly lake about 3 hours north of Toronto.
We have the usual cottage toys available, canoe, small sailboat, row boat. Looking for help with selective cutting trees for firewood and lumber which we cut on our own small mill. Hopefully someone that is a better gardener than we are as we would like to start growing our own produce and maybe even get some chickens. Help with some construction and painting projects. We have some old machinery we are always trying to keep running. We are offering free accommodation and meals in exchange for help.
This is a no smoking environment.
