We live on a beautiful farm in the Western Cape, South Africa.
Currently my main job is marketing of my guesthouse on the Garden route.
We recently bought a house in France and the main task of my helpX will be to teach French and help me master the various social media platforms.
Guest helpers will have an en-suite bedroom. The meals are included with the stay.
The farm is 20km away from the nearest town, Malmesbury and 80km away from Cape Town. Public transport is not really available but we go to town daily and very often to Cape Town if the guest worker wishes to travel with for sight seeing. Hours can be discussed and also the work to be done.

If the guest wants to travel, they will be more than welcome. Helping hours will be limited to no more than 4 hours per day.
We also have a small cheese business where we could use some help.
No smoking in the house and only at certain areas on the premises. Absolutely no drugs allowed.
No South Africans.

Our mountainous backyard has waterfalls and almost limitless hiking potential. The river is just two minutes from our gate. We need help growing the place, getting systems in place - including food farming, water usage, child centered projects, adventure set ups, building projects, social media liasing, commercial cooking systems etc. We are looking for people who would be keen to do longer stays - 1-2 months. Work will be not more than 25 hours a week with lots of time left to explore. WiFi is patchy but available, phone signal is OK. Rooms may be subject to change depending on demand. Our village is about 15km from nearest town - so no shops etc. Cape Town city is about 1 hour away/2.5 hours by train

Hi there! This is a beautiful, popular, alternative, eco-friendly backpackers that overlooks the stunning Tsitsikamma nature reserve on the Garden Route of South Africa. Only 8km from Natures Valley beach and lagoon, our farm is surrounded by natural forests, wildlife, peace and quiet. We have a private waterfall in the forest just below our vibey tree-house bar, and a constant flow of interesting, adventurous, passionate and conscious travellers passing by every single day.

We run our hostel on an ‘energy-trade’ system. This means that travellers who would like to be with us for a longer period can stay on and help us run the backpackers in a variety of different ways in exchange for their food and lodging. We encourage a stay of 1 month or longer, but can make exceptions where possible for shorter time-frames.
We are particularly interested in people with experience or interest in the hospitality industry (reception, bar, cooking), alternative energy, organic gardening and ca... more inside

This backpackers hostel is a well-known establishment, situated alongside the Wilderness National Park. We are looking for volunteers who will be here for at least two months. Presently we have availability for September, October and November. In particular someone to tutor little Mimi. Also from December through Summer we will need an extra hand for front of house, bar, and adventures.
Working and living here is a unique experience. To get the best from the experience requires a combination of hard work, enthusiasm, honesty and being proactive about using your time off to enjoy the surrounding area.

We like our volunteer staff to represent a healthy gender balance, and we make sure that the people who come here feel welcome and part of the team.

There are various tasks that could suit your skills. The main ones are: working behind the bar, and working front of house. We don't make people do things that they really don't like doing, and we don't take people on who are not kee... more inside

We are a family of 4- mom, dad 12 year-old boy and Granny with 3 dogs, 3 cats and a lot of chickens! We have started from scratch as there were no buildings and no grid power. We are building our own steel-framed, straw bale house with all means of alternative power. Our long-term goal is to be self-sustaining. We would like short-term help with renovating our old caravan, clearing fire breaks and clay plastering.
Being a farm, there are many other things which need doing like repairing fencing, animal care, path making etc. We have a small timber cabin with a comfy queen bed with linen provided.
At present there are shared ablutions with the family while we finish our house.
We provide a weekly box of mostly dry foods, with eggs from our hens , some fresh veg from our garden and dairy bought in. There is a shipping container which is the living area and has a kitchen to prepare your meals. You can bring anything not on the food list we provide. There is no fridge- just a cold b... more inside
