We run a small, attractive 4 bedroom guest house, in picturesque St Ives Cornwall, England, which has 4 stunning sandy beaches and a working harbour. Our guesthouse is very close to the surfing Porthmeor Beach. Its an idyllic place to spend a few weeks volunteering.

We are offering a part-time opportunity for 4-6 weeks,(depending on your availability), for 2020, ideally covering the period between Easter - Late October 2020.

We are flexible on timings and happy to discuss your preferred arrival and departure dates.

Approx 13-16 hours per week - spread across 6 mornings - usually sometime between 9.30 am - 12.00 pm depending on the schedule for that day. Sometimes it's a slightly earlier start, sometimes its barely 1.5 hours work, it just depends on the number of changeovers in any given week.

Therefore, 1 full day per week, as well as all afternoons and evenings are free. Leaving plenty of down time for the volunteer, which is particularly good news for any EU citizen... more inside

We are, at the moment (from November 2019) looking for a couple/small group/very self sufficient individual to help with tidying and wood clearing on our smallholding. The cabin on our woodland also needs some attention which might require staying overnight there. Would suit someone/people who want peace and quiet, are able to work on their own and take initiative.

We are a 2 hectare smallholding with 2 holiday cottages (one of which would be the accommodation). We sometimes keep animals for our own consumption, grow fruit and vegetables and enjoy one of the most beautiful views in the world.

We are looking for help with work both inside and out, depending on skills and inclination (and the weather) including cleaning and painting in the holiday cottages, Handyman-type maintenance, wood clearing and chopping, strimming, weeding/picking vegetables and helping out around the smallholding and garden. We would expect 4-5 hours work a day, with a day off a week, you need to be... more inside

We have recently purchased the iconic Golden Hind museum and are looking for volunteers to join us in the beautiful fishing town of Brixham, Devon.

The Golden Hind at Brixham is a full sized replica of one of the most iconic ships from the age of exploration. The Ship has been a feature of picturesque Brixham harbour for over fifty years, entertaining and educating thousands of visitors during this time - as well as being featured on many tv programmes and films. The Ship is open from spring to autumn come rain or shine and is an all-weather attraction with indoor displays as well as wide open decks.

A striking landmark in Brixham, every visitor on board contributes to the restoration and maintenance of the Ship, ensuring that 'Brixham's Treasure' will continue to enhance Brixham's beautiful Quayside for future generations...

** Help needed in October **

Hi there, we are a family of two, Jeff & Phil (father & son), living in a large Victorian house in a Conservation Area in south London.

We will be cleaning & renovating mainly the middle floor of a 3-storey house with cellar. There is also a large rear garden and smaller garden at the front. Tasks include weeding, pruning, stacking logs, thinning plants in a wildlife pond and general tidying up. In the house we will be packing & moving boxes and furniture, taking up carpets & vinyl, stripping wallpaper, and cleaning & preparing surfaces for painting & decorating. There will be trips in the car to the local Re-cycling Center.

On days off there will be optional trips out to traditional English seaside resorts and you can explore historic London on your doorstep (only 15 minutes away by train). I have some books on "Hidden London" showing illustrated walks in places like Docklands and Whitechapel. You will have your own room with unlimited fast fib... more inside

Hi HelpXers,

Mum (Pat) and I (James) moved here about 7 years ago to get some land, escape the busy city consumer lifestyle and start on a path of sustainability and self-sufficiency. My partner Holly is also staying here with us. We are starting to produce our own organic food, water, energy, materials and much more. Basically trying to remove the dependencies we have on big corporations and the failing economic system. I believe we need to re-establish community, sharing, loving and helping each other, rather than pursuing our manufactured need for money, big TVs, fast cars and bling etc!

Short term we are looking for someone to help with jobs such as weeding, potting up, wood chipping, splitting logs, digging, housework, woodwork/repairs, strimming, re-pointing the stone walling and paving slabs, hedge cutting etc. Being familiar with basic tools such as a saw and drill would be useful.

Long term we are looking for someone to fir in with the day to day jobs, and be able ... more inside

Our names are Roland and Andrew and we live in a ranch style chalet bungalow situated in well maintained and partly wooded grounds of approx 1.6 hectares in a rural village on the Suffolk / Cambridgeshire border overlooking neighbouring paddocks. Being rural it is very peaceful but there is little in the way of public transport. The village is about 6 miles from Newmarket and just under 20 miles from the beautiful University City of Cambridge with fast rail connections to London. You will live in the main house and have your own room with lovely views of the garden.

There is a reasonable mobile network coverage and good internet connection which helpers are welcome to use.

We are keen and experienced gardeners and RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) qualified. We are seeking short term help (ideally 2 weeks but other terms negotiable) to help in maintaining the grounds in particular the woodland, trimming back ivy, tidying trees, stacking firewood and general grounds management... more inside

My partner keeps vintage cars and sometimes needs help with them we use them throughout the summer so sometimes we will be able to take you out in one. We are very lucky to live on a farm in the beautiful Lake District, just on the edge of the National Park in Cumbria; the farm dates back to the late 1600's. Over the years parts of it have been renovated and added to and some parts are looking a little sorry for themselves! My mother, myself, my sister and my 7yr old nephew live and work on the farm running a small accommodation business and a successful Friesian horse equestrian centre. We have big plans for the place in the future, however for now we could do with a little help with day-to-day living.

We are on the outskirts of the lovely village of Cartmel which is home to a small racecourse, several very good restaurants and it is famous for it's Sticky Toffee Pudding. You can walk into the village from the farm in just under 20 minutes and there is a local grocery store and several pubs where you can meet friendly locals and visitors from all over the world. The nearest town is Kendal which is about a 20 minute drive away o... more inside
